Boobah... an acid trip for kids?
by Elsewhere inwhen i get up for work in the morning i normally watch a bit of news in bed before i start to move around.
the other day i was flipping through the channels and came across a very very strange show on pbs at 6:30 am (dallas channel 13) called boobah.
it is designed for very young children... and i swear it looks like an acid trip!

I've never seen the show, but once at a toy store I walked by and the dolls started going off on the shelf bouncing up and down going "boooobah" in a freaky kid voice.
I still have nightmares!!!

It's cool to live near a church
by Cygnus ini don't go to church, but right now they're playing god bless america and i can hear it and it's just cool.
i like seeing the parisioners walking in and out when i drive by and seeing them fire up the huge grill on saturdays for cookouts.
just something i wanted to share this morning.

My wife used to live by a church. It was the most god-awful experience ever. A bunch of em parked in front of her house. I watched as a guy ran into my truck. I got him back though. Since my truck is a junker anyway, I made sure I slammed into him before I left.
It's the new Platinum Rule - "Do Unto Others as they already Did Unto You" LOL!

epiphany -sudden revelation of truth inspired by seemingly trivial incident
by wanderlustguy ini had one today, and it's a whopper.
been writing for the past hour and a half but still feel like i just sat down.
more to come, but in the meantime, have you had any of these you'd like to share?

Yeah - it was inspired by my cat - LOL, and how easily I am willing to give up on things. (Oh god - this is the first sign of spinsterhood isn't it?! First life lessons from your cat, then you get 8 more and wear cardigans over house dresses with support socks and birkenstocks!)

response to 'older men dating teenagers/lolita'
by girl_interrupted inhey guys.
i feel deeply for wanderlustguy, when he describes what his father was like with young girls....incidentally, the reason i was disfellowshipped (among other things) was because i had an affair with a much older 'brother' in the cong.
i was just 14 at the time, and being naive and completely under his influence, i believed myself to completely in love with him and believed he felt the same way for me.

How awful! Glad you're getting help, and hopefully those who have had similar experiences can help with your healing too.

Love is NOT a Human Need
by logansrun inone of the most difficult things for ex-jehovah's witnesses (heretofore referred to as ex-jws) to deal with is the loss of friends and family -- "loved ones.
" rejection hurts, and the pain seems to be very intense for some.
ex-jws seem validated to feel so awful since most humans naturally believe that love is a human need.

However humans do need to feel accepted. People have died from not feeling this.
Or do you find Maslow full of crap?

Adolescence and Music
by joannadandy inanyone who was raised by jw's knows music was a big "snare" of the devil.
rock was the soundtrack to destruction, and rap could get you pregnat!
you could groove out to the oldies with your parents, or perhaps you were lucky enough to get your own set of the instrumental kingdom melodies!.

I do remember listening to XTC's "Dear God" and feeling particularly bad for liking it - and secretly nodding my head.
