Counselled on chatting to a study!
by Penn9 inhey all, i'm new to posting, but i've lurked for a while.
quick intro: i'm a 25 yr old guy, brought up a jw, strayed for a while, then got baptized convinced it was the best thing for me, the rest of the world is satanic, etc.
i overcame that ridiculous belief and i know the truth about "the truth" but my friends and family are all deep into the cult so leaving is a huge risk that i'm not willing or ready to take.

by focariedu21 ini went to a quick build in papua new guinea many years ago in fact about 10 years now and was there for many weeks welding and concreting.
the brothers were very harsh with the locals as they wouldn't share anything with them not even a meal.
i think i expressed this experience with you before so i wont bore you with the details.

the love of animals
by Aussie Oz inno, not that sort of 'love'.
how do you feel about animals?.
never been one for pets although when a jw we had our fair share.. these days i just love looking out the window in the morning and seeing the wild rabbits eating our long grass (even though out here we are supposed do do out bit to eradicate the 'pest').

Humane traps should be re-named inhumane traps as the poor critter stresses out, dehydrates or starves to death instead of a quick whack across the back of the neck.
I saw a rabbit at the weekend with myxi it looked in a dreadful state with it's eyes all puffed up, I should've killed it to put it out of it's misery, but I just couldn't.......I must toughen up.
I'm a right soppy date.

For those who know
by Tatty inthis is a question for those who know - i had a discussion about failed 1975 with jw and been told that wt never announced the year as the date of armagedon and that i will not be able to find it in any wt publications.
i dont have the publications and can't check it myself.
can anybody who have been in the organisation long enough or studied this question help me with it.

The original publications & articles that had embarrassment potential for the WT org have been massaged in the WT Library CD so new JW's or other researchers will not find what we '75ers read or heard from them during the 1969 -1975 period.
The Watchtower organisation seems now to have used weasle words during the 1975 explosion of activity to decieve us into giving up our jobs, sell our homes, our pensions, our businesses & spend the 'few remaing years' in the preaching work.
Now the Watchtower organisation is splitting hairs & again using weasle words to decieve new converts into believing they had no part in 6 years of of excited expectation regarding 1975.
SIX YEARS & they reckon they made it clear during those years nothing was going to happen in 1975.........LIARS!!
Circuit servants were coming from Bethel saying the society believes Armageddon would likely happen before 1975.......can you imagine how exciting it was to hear that?
The Watchtower organisation WAS the cause of the expectations regarding 1975 NOT the rank & file.....we DID NOT misunderstand, we went where they led!
The Watchtower organisation will LIE to save its skin........& God detests liars.

Were There/Are There A Number Of Gays At Bethel?
by minimus ini remember the "boy's club" mentality from many of the bethelites in the 70's and 80's.
it seemed there were a number of males who were "effeminate" back in the day.. i knew of one guy that was told by the bethel brass that he would "go places" at headquarters if he could learn to deepen his voice and tone down his gestures a bit (and he was told it wouldn't hurt if he ever married a fellow bethelite sister).
this man was extensively used at conventions, became less "gay looking" and got married.. so my question is, did you see effeminate men in bethel?

Yes the stereotyping of a gay man as effeminate & limp wristed is a great shame on an otherwise interesting thread.

If you tell someone their entire world is corrupt and will end at God's hand should you be surprised if you get punched in the nose!
by designs inestonia jws attacked by orthodox christians.
now if you know that a culture has a history of intolerance and is violently prone to aggressively go after new and radical movements would you tell them they will be destroyed by god and not expect a very bad response.. this modern example reminds me of the deaths caused by rutherford and knorr taunting world leaders and religious heads of church.
the gbs bravdo led to our being mobbed..

I've often wondered if a situation over a 'political card' had broken out in New York & machete wielding persecution broke out as it did in Malawi, would the GB have allowed it to escalate like they did?
Experiencing the mutilation first hand on their door step would I'm sure have made the WT hierarchy choose a different course of action & see no problem with the 'political card'.

I am a sheep in wolves' clothing
by Anony Mous insince i'm not getting out of the jw cult any time soon due to my position and family i decided to do a little contra-action.
maybe some of you can share your stories, experiences and let me know how far you kicked it before you either left or got booted.
my intention is to get people thinking.. - a couple of weeks ago i had a demonstration on stage.

This is a very good ploy Anon, my brother does the same in his congregation, some of the 'brothers & sisters' are a little cool towards him now.

Hi TLD, this is an interesting thread.
I read as much as I can of the threads but do not always have time to comment. I print off what I think will be of interest to my parents to help satisfiy their need to see they are not the only ones having serious questions regarding the WBTS.
In the past I quite often found I was the death nell of any threads I commented on...........a little discouraging to make further comments.
Despite 50 yrs a JW from a very young age my interests in life have nothing to do with the bible, I do not even like the bible so do not have the in depth knowledge of the scriptures some on this forum have...........I do not comment on this type of discussion thread
The threads I enjoy are the ones that really take the WBTS to task.

Who Or What Influenced You The Most To Leave The Organization?
by minimus inany person or situation ?.

Among many things the final straw was the GB glorifying themselves at every opportunity & as wobble suggested their 'standing in a place they ought not' as mediator between me & God.
