JW's claiming disability when being leading lights in the 'Lord's work' caused a big rift amongst the 'brotherhood' when I was still in.
It was very satisfying when their 'worldly' neighbours dobbed them in & they had their benefits stopped...very satisfying.

I remember the DO interviewing people on stage at an assembly that were pioneering whilst on benefits, the audience were laughing & applauding when the DO said that you could get the government to pay for you to pioneer.
this is one of the saddest articles in the wt library... just two years after the organ transplant ban... a jw decided to not donate a perfectly good kidney because of this doctrine... which was changed in 1980. .

i came across this lecture at 3am not being able to sleep by dan baker.
it details his transition from christian fundamentalist to atheist and the various shades in-between.
he realises that every denomination of christian can open the bible and prove to you that they have the right interpretation and everyone else is wrong.
