Branch offices in Europe are closing

i have from a safe source that the bethel branch office in austria, ireland, italy and switzerland are closing down in the near future.

most of the business will be taken care of from the german bethel.

nothing is said thru official channels yet, but there is no reason to doubt my source.. can anyone tell more about this topic?.

i have been reading some interesting information on terror management theory at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/terror_management_theory.

this explains how the terror of death leads to a belief in an afterlife and also affects how we live.

there is an "irresolvable paradox" created from the desire to preserve life and the realization of that impossibility because life is finite.

i was just talking to my wife this morning about underlining or highlighting the wt paragraphs.. when i was 13 years old i would fight with my dad because i refused to highlight the answers.. the reason was because i wanted my comment to be genuine.

i felt that highlighting the "answer" made me lean on just using that as a crutch and not truly putting it in my own words.. i still hold that argument now, and i am 26. the only reason you would ever have to highlight something in a study book would be if you needed to remember it, maybe it is fairly complicated or subtle information that could be easily forgotten.. so many times in the wt the "question" has the same phrase that's in the paragraph!

it's literally like playing connect the dots.. so what i would do is not highlight during the family study.

How Being a Witness made you Lose out on Higher Education and Careers

hi, folks.

been thinking of this, because of having been raised in the witnesses.

i reflect back on opportunities i would have encountered and seized, had it not been for being controlled by the witness organization being told higher education was not needed.

When Elder's Fade

as a publisher, still buying the wt line that they were god's sole channel and any problems, doubts, etc... i had were all a product of my own lack of.

wisdom and or humility or failure of application, i would be shocked and puzzled at how long-time elders would resign and then fade away.

i would wonder: what could have happened.

yes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.

i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.

as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?
