  dose anyone remember this issue?

  i remember i was 18 when i read this, being a youth myself i put myself in their shoes and i was so sad and angry.

  their short lives were stolen.

  What the craziest thing is: I would bet some of those kids died refusing blood and blood fractions 6 years before the new fractions doctrine was adopted that would have saved their lives. too bad they didn't get sick in 2000.

  So tell me who is responsible for their deaths, Jehovah, the Governing Body, or their parents for following the commands of men. Man this makes me so angry. These Jackasses have the nerve to claim to speak for god and mandate that their followers obey at the risk of social execution or even physical death, and then reserve the right to do an about face change position, and still claim that god is directing them.

  i had no plans to turn up to the court hearing as an observer, as in my experience, it can take several hearings and a number of months before any court case gets rolling.

  There has got to be a pending newspaper article on this? I am almost drooling on my keyboard at this news. Yup there is drool on my space bar.

  This is a really big deal. Unthank defends the FDS and the Lawyers claim it does not exist but is rather a "theological arrangement". It's like saying that the college of the cardinals doesn't exist in real life it is just a "religous concept".

  The society is quickly going to come up with new light on Matt. 24:45. If they can't defend their core foundational doctrine in a court of law, it shows that they know it is all a bunch of crap.

  with all of the legal mumbo jumbo and technicalties that the organization uses (recently brought to light in the australian case), i couldn't help but wonder what power the "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses" really has or even means from a technical standpoint, since the organization is so technical.

  we know what it means when the announcement is made, but in reality, so-and-so never really belonged to any of the groups in the first place.

  the law says that association or membership is voluntary, therefore the organization has the right to expel and shun someone for not following the guidelines expected of members.. what are the rank and file members of?.

  Great brochure. I would reccomend changing the title "Presiding overseer" to "Coordinator of the body of elders".

  Will this case attract any media attention in Australia? I know there were a few preliminary articles, but it sure seems like the progression of the case would generate a follow up article. Especially the judges comments about charging each member of the GB. What's the old saying. "Sunshine is the best disinfectant?"

  i'll keep this brief for now.. long time lurker (4 years or so).. born-in, elder, used on district level (last talk i gave before i left was the baptisimal talk), and lots of hard time put in...before i finally made the move to split.

  it's a long stoy, much like many of yours...but with it's own little interesting twists.

  more details in the future, perhaps.. as i said, ive lurked here for a while.. its funny: for a long time i'd only come on late at night.

  Shunning..... at Meetings ???

  can someone explain why jws shun disfellowshipped ones when they are at their meetings (i.e.

  making moves to come back)?.

  i can understand why you may not want to 'socialize' with ones who do not share your beliefs.. but surely shunning such ones at the 'meetings'; assuming they are not there to cause trouble, is unloving; should they not be welcomed like the prodigal son.. true christians are known by the 'love' they show.

  This is probably too much detail....but anywhoo....

  I was in an elders meeting once where there was heated discussion about whether or not it was appropriate for the brothers and sisters to give a ride to a carless disfellowshipped woman who was walking in the winter at night with a two year old daughter to get to the meetings. That night she walked home two miles with her daughter in sub 30 degree weather.

  I am ashamed that I didn't speak up more convincingly to show her love and kindness. I was the youngest on the body and kept my mouth shut as the old hardliners argued about how it is supposed to be hard to come back. One even said "serves her right for breaking God's laws"

  I am so sorry for being a part of that racket. God what a jackass I was. (hangs head in shame)
