MrRoboto nails it, glad that its one of the first posts too. The use of the term makes no sense and shows how stupid these guys really are and how it really is mind control. The scriptures say that truth and righteousness is like a light that reveals all, not a shade that covers or conceals things in darkness. These morons are literally showing their followers their hand. They aren't even smart enough to be proper wolves in sheeps clothing.

So, is it the publicity, or act itself that "brings reproach on Jehovah's name"?
by stuckinarut2 inas we all sadly know, a common expression used by the society and elders in cases of abuse, or scandals, is "if you talk about this, you will bring reproach on jehovah's name!".
this is uttered in order to deter making something known.. but really, if it is a case of abuse, is not the act itself the thing that brings "reproach on jehovah"?.
making it known is not the problem.. rather hiding it, or not disclosing it to authorities is the thing that brings reproach!.

Well I have no clue what goes on, but I'd assume that money has to be a problem now. From what I understand the higher ups are a mixture of people who understand its all BS but like controlling people, and people who are full on delusional and believe they are princes.
I'm wagering that the combination of the above creates for conditions that they are focused on financial tensions to maintain survivability. Have any people who spent time at their HQ ever come to this forum? Or is this mostly where low rank and file come? From what I've researched if you go to their HQ and have any sort of solid integrity you'd pretty much high tail it out of the religion.
Whatever the case, I doubt the org will disappear unless there is a super disaster that just forces them to close shop.

the Book of Enoch and the Nephilim
by schnell ini've heard all my cognizant life that angels from heaven looked upon the daughters of men, took wives, and their wives bore giants called nephilim.. i've heard all my adult life about the book of enoch and why it's apocryphal and to be avoided.. so tonight i was curious enough to download an e-book and have a look, since dothemath had the thread about rarely used scriptures and the book of jude directly quotes from the book of enoch.. if jude quotes from enoch, shouldn't both or neither of them be canonical?
if you consider jude canonical, then enoch should be too.. hey, how many fallen angels were there again?
two thirds of heaven, right?

"Took" is so stupid, Enoch didnt pass, he just spent his time with the creator so closely he began gaining his qualities and his appearance changed to where men were afraid of him. He slowly stopped interacting with men more and more until there was no point in him dwelling in the same realm, he was a different being altogether, so the best thing was to transfer him to the realm that the creator was in. Like a butterfly has no reason to sit in the same place as catepillars.

Reaching the most distant parts - Geoffrey Jackson praising Bible translators and missionaries as "faithful ones" or even "anointed ones"
by TheWonderofYou inafter we heard some time ago that before the time of russel there was no "faitful slave" or no anointed ones who formed a faitful slave class, now we learn that we dont know if before russel there were not "faitful ones" or "anointed".
indeed jackson says that we know the bible teaches that throughout the history there would be a large number of "sons of the kingdom" ..or anointed ones.. beginning from this month in several projects including a film about christian bible translators who gave an example of "faithfulness" and "discretness" in translating the bible, the christian bibletranslators and missionionaries who used "jehovah" by the way are receiving ultimate praise of the governing body, in the first place at the moment is shown the video about tyndale, wo so is very much supposedly a "faithful one" and perhaps even "anointed" because he loved the bible.. jackson says that those early missionaries of the christendom already "preached the message" before russell.
january broadcast.

That "Spiritual Isreal" thing was a disaster waiting to happen, did the first century consider Paul a profit? I never got that impression from him, he uses very expressive allegories but he mostly connected old testament concepts to messianic faith. Spiritual Isrealites would be an entirely new concept that was not taught by prophets.
The prophets taught the other nations coming into subjugation of Isrealites, and that their inheritance was basically them being absorbed into Isreal customs under the messiah and not being killed off.
There was a mixed multitude of gentiles that came into Isreal out of egypt (who believed under the old covenant) and they could worship with Isreal in a specific order, so it never was a foriegn concept. There was always a prophetic distinction between Isrealites and gentiles.

I'm wondering back then if this was some kind of set up. How could they assume the end of the time of the gentiles? If it was the end of the gentiles times they wouldn't have authority to be teaching anything period. They're gentiles. How idiotic can you get?

I'm assuming a troll is not common on this site?
A beliver, lets stick to the basics.
If what that religion says is true, tell me how the creator's name was changed to Jehovah? Several letters in that name did not exist when the name was spoken in ancient times.
Its not a translation of the name because a translation would be "I am that I am." If you transliterate you spell out the sound that the name made in its original language. But there was no "J" or "V" sound in ancient alphabets.
So explain to me how you can uphold truth but your foundation for truth is in error? There is no such god as "Jehovah", its a human construct, probably one of the most recently created gods in human history. It can do you no harm if you do not attend your meetings and it can do you no good if you attend your meetings. If you cry out that name, who would be there to listen? Do you get wisdom when you pray to it? It seems you get less wise, as you become more dependent on others to make discernments for you. If anything you have coughed up more wisdom going into your temple than when you were without it.

Whats going on with the 144000 thing? Spiritual people in the org...
by megaboy inkind of a two fold question, use to have discussions with witnesses about the 144000 and how i didnt agree with it being spiritual because tribes are defined, also mentioned that early on in revelations that a measurement was given for gentiles and i explained that i belived that that was basically foundating that the prophecies proceeding would have nothing to do with gentiles as in they are not measured in these concerns.
never did get any decent reasoning from them on that.. but i haven't heard about that doctrine in a while or online.
granted there are a lot more messed up stuff they teach but these things gave me the impression that it would effect the org if anyone could claim to be of the 144000. are these people suppose to be spiritual?

In this case I ask because I just recently saw a video of the organizations leaders dishing out their dogma and nothing about it implied that the men were spiritual. And I feel a highly spiritual person would pick up on it, even normal rational thinking people. But since being spiritual and rational dont always go hand and hand thats two opportunities to notice something is wrong. Rational people are probably long gone, but what about spiritual people? Are the videos ringing any alarm bells?
The broadcasts are stale, not full of heart at all. EVERY word is obviously carefully thought out and calculated, performances being done the same way. Its clear that every message has a distinct goal in molding the mind and is not based on encouragement or reasoning through naturalness. I'm very surprised that its not setting off major alarms significantly. These guys are obviously not spiritual.

The Governing Body are doubling down on dogma!
by DATA-DOG inin case you were wondering if the governing body we're going to become kinder and gentler, the answer is a big "no!!!
in the current study edition of the wt magazine, the sheeple are reminded of some very important key points.
1) god has an organization ( corporation ) that you must respect.. 2) only the gb/faithful slave can dispense spiritual food and only the gb/faithful slave can interpret the bible.. 3) individual dubs absolutely cannot learn "truth" on their own.. 4) god requires "unity of doctrine.

I see quoting scriptures no longer matters either. That faithful and discreet slave thing isn't even subtle. This is like an attempt to hold on to whatever people they have left.

This is hilarious, its like they just roll with whatever nonsense they feel like publishing in their next piece of trash. Contradictions don't matter lol.
