here, it's cooling off and the leaves are already turning.. my g'daughter's team lost a volleyball game on monday evening.. serves her right for being such a boastful little blister!.

KH school on christmas day & new years day
by dozy inwhen i was an elder i used to hate the wts organising km schools on christmas or new years day ( like they are doing again this year) & i know many other elders & ms felt the same.
it always struck me as a foolish time of year to organise these meetings.
for many it was the time of the year when they had family staying on holiday.

Much needed solitude. You know one thing positive I've always said about being a JW around holiday time is that I don't have to get stressed about shopping, the mall, sales, or dealing with extended family and relatives, or planning some elaborate dinner, etc.. But low and behold, the GB decided to screw that end of our lives up too! The last thing I want to do on my days off, is get dressed up to go to some assembly hall to hear a whole bunch of repetative and dull material.
Add the assemblies, and DCs falling on a holiday. One year we had the CA AND DC fall on major holidays. You should hear ALL the complaints. What is funny the attendance is SO low, I think good for them show the brothers you plan on keeping your "wordly" plans.

I agree my husband has to attend during Thanksgiving week. We both have it off and it sucks, he is not happy. I told him to let the CO know that he was spending Thanksgiving with wife.

Elder groupies
by cameo-d inany of you that are elders or ex-elders.... did you ever have certain people in your cong that would call you at home very often with trivial or constant questions concerning "what should i do"?
did you feel that your position actually served a useful purpose for people who could not think or reason for themselves?.
did you often give up time with your own family in order to be available to these constant groupies calling for advice?.

That has happened to my husband. Some people call for the stupidest things,I only know because some will tell me why they called. Thank God for caller ID we ignore most calls. Why do they think he works 24/7 and would love to listen to their problems? We have a life that is relatively drama free, I do not need the wackos calling all the time. Some people cannot discern what is a problem and what they can handle themselves as an adult.

by ana_dote ini know, i know...it's all part and parcel of the whole fading thing.....but..... i missed a phone call from an unknown number tonight....oddly enough, had this been a few months ago the number would have still been programmed in my phone.
the number was to the kingdom hall i used to attend over a year ago.
i have not set foot in it since probably late april, early may, of 2009. but tonight an elder called.

I am sorry they are bothering you. What is so unfair is it depends on what congregation you attend. I know for a fact my husband's cousin who is baptized and she has lived with men for years and eventually marries them, very common knowledge. No one bothers her since she is not active, nor cares to be. Their lack of action is what should happen, why bother someone who does not profess to be a JW?

My sister died in a head on collision last night
by Bumble Bee ini still can't believe it.
she was here for the bbq, we had an awesome time, laughing, her telling stories from our childhoods.
i gave her a hug and told her i loved her before she left.

Is this workplace harassment?
by babygirl30 ini work in pa at a fortune 500 co. the manager i currently have is lazy, has no backbone, and is completely incompetent!
this is not just my personal opinion either - it is a running 'joke' amongst the entire dept of this man's managerial skills (or lack thereof).
so much so that even the other managers will make comments about my manager inability to properly perform his job...so this is what i'm dealing with.. being a very straightforward person, i find that being upfront about issues/situations seems to make things easier.

I agree that brazen seems to be more about the attitude than the actual conduct, which to me signifies that they'll now have the means at their disposal to punish, er, I mean counsel, anyone whose attitude they don't like. They no longer have to wait until some actual loose conduct is committed...they can go after anyone who displays a bad attitude or questions authority. This way they're nipping in the bud the actions of anyone who might be in the early stages of openly questioning or doubting...
Exactly, they have more latitude to make their judgements.
