Bethel Speaker- get rid of Facebook!
by Kensho inspecial assembly day (sad) bethel speaker ( a very good speaker i might add) in his talk " follow your spirit-directed conscience gave example of and elder and his family.
he noticed his wife and daughter spending a lot of time morning noon and night on facebook, it almost seemed like that is all they did, so as a spiritual head decided to see what they were constantly looking at, "let me see what you are spending so much time looking at on facebook said the elder".
the wife explained this is how we keep in contact with the "friends", elder started to look at her page and she was correct, there he found friends in the cong.

The story of Bo Juel Jensen - the man behind the Anti-Watchtower media campaign in Norway
by cedars inhi guys.
richard e. kelly has kindly contributed a great article to jwsurvey.org on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/child-abuse-2/bo-juel-jensen-could-he-be-watchtowers-worst-nightmare.
richard tells the story of bo juel jensen, an ex-witness who has been doing marvellous work in raising awareness of watchtower child abuse mishandling in norway.. as with most child abuse victims, bo's story is a disturbing one.

Great story. My heart goes out to Bo and all those who were molested. This has to stop innocent children do not need these people to prey on them who are shielded by the WTS.

Rutherford's smear campaign (a must read)
by Leolaia inthere has been some interest recently about the moyle case, and how it may have set a precident in what became the society's disfellowshipping policy.
in july 1939, the chief legal counsel of the watchtower bible & tract society, olin r. moyle, resigned from his position in a protest over conditions at bethel and rutherford's mistreatment of workers.
he did not want to continue living under those conditions and he felt he could effect positive change for his brothers by taking such a stand.

I Think My Marriage Is Over...
by cognac ini know exactly what happened... he thinks i'm going to die at the big a and wants to be with someone he can live forever with.... we have two girls, ages 3 and 1... i really thought we'd make it despite the religion, now i really don't think so... not sure what to do... .

Cognac so sorry your husband is putting you through this.
Some great advice and my apologies in advance as I was unable to read every post one. This thought came to mind....
If he is premeditating on trying to get out of this marriage he may have another thing coming. If I remember correctly my husband (who is an elder) mentioned that if a spouse leaves the marriage and commits adultery it does not automatically give him/her the green light to scripturally remarry.
Example: Hubby cheats and is granted a divorce. He can remarry in the eyes of the government BUT in JW world, as long as the spouse that was cheated on never wanted to get divorced but try reconciling (forgave their husband) then he will not “scripturally” be free to remarry. He will never be able to hold any responsibility as long as the wife does not have sex or remarry.
I may be wrong in this thinking and if there are any elders out there that can chime in on their understanding it would be greatly appreciated.
Hang in there (((hugs)))

Opinions/Thoughts/Recommendations for Key West
by breakfast of champions inalways thought i would like to give it a try.
do you know of any good places to stay/eat?.
cool stuff to do?.

Key West is beautiful but keep in mind most of the beaches are "man made", they dump sand on concrete. So if you are looking for beautiful sandy beaches like in the Caribbean the beaches in KW are not as plentiful.

A quick experiment - what do you get if you Google "JW.org"?
by cedars inhi guys.
i've noticed that a significant number of inbound search engine visits to jwsurvey.org are coming from the keyword "jw.org" - it's currently around 3 to 5 visits per hour.
i quite like the thought that i'm getting extra traffic thanks to jws typing the address of the official website in their search bar rather than their address bar.. i've done a quick check, and i've noticed that although jw.org occupies the top ranking for this keyword, four of the other links to websites/videos on the first page are all anti-watchtower, including jwsurvey.org and jwleaks.org.. sometimes google tailors its results to suit the individual, so i'm curious to know - is everyone else finding the same thing when they do a search for this keyword?.

The Governing Body - their own worst enemy!
by cedars ini've been giving some thought recently to what's going on in the minds of the individual governing body members, and what makes them tick.
the process of listening to their talks for my "getting to know you" youtube video series, though draining, has been very enlightening.
i now feel i know some of their individual personalities a little better than i did previously.. then there has been the tumultuous events of 2012. it's been interesting to note the way the governing body has responded to some of these issues, and how in most cases their responses have been woefully inadequate or even counter-productive as regards their long-term interests.. for example:.

Thank you Cedars well written and easy to comphrend. Your thoughts provided some ammo to use when my husband gets wind. A great way to just throw out questions and hopefully he can marinate on them.

Another doozie from DO Brown Payne about "many JW's compromising their neutrality" and voting for Obama
by oppostate inbro do brown payne told the audience of today's sa day at natick mass.
that "many brothers compromised their neutrality by voting in 2008".
he followed that by asking "and what has this president done for you?

I can definiitely see Payne saying that, we have not had our circuit assembly yet.
This guy is a doozy the last few assemblies he had people up in arms saying from the platform numerous times that (with emphasis) homeosexuals were/are digusting. Also, he was relating an experience and said "m-efer" (lmore than once). He did not say mother f*cker but to many "m-efer" was just as bad. I got a kick out of it and leaned to my husband that I guess I can say that word now. I know for a fact that Bethel was called on these incidents and he was talked to. This guy is a loose canon and can be very condescending. Always makes sure we know his past as the OP listed. In addition, Payne was a lawyer I beleive in Michigan. I have heard he does not like New Englanders and makes a point to try and ruffle feathers.
