  Do we need a 'Faithful and Discrete Slave' ?

  there is a thread already started on the subject of the fds elsewhere but i thought we may as well deal with aspect.. do we need a fds?.

  what would we miss if we didn't have one?.

  what additional new light do we need?.

  I see the problem as...some still see it as a special gift to be able to know what the Bible says.

  Some still believe that not all Chrisians have God's Spirit to understand what His Word means.

  1 John clearly teaches we(Christains) are all Spirit filled(born from God) in 5:1...therefore...1 John 2:27 applies to all Christains...read and take comfort in your God given abilities.

  Of course there are some "hard to understand"(2 Pet. 3:16) texts...Peter knew that there will always be that...but what Christains NEED to know is there clearly for those with God's Spirit to decern.

  hello, i was reading judical com.

  was really suprise to find out how some of jw's feel.

  some have, like the single mom, have such a negative experience with them.

  The elders are not priests...we have one mediator...I confess to Him.

  But what about the scriptures that talk about confessing to the elders you ask?

  IF...they were full of God's Spirit...and IF...they were your true shepherd, who knew you well, had gained your respect and confidence...well...maybe that person would meet the Bible's standards for one to confess your sin to...if not...God is there for that purpose...which is perferred...don't ya think.

  Best to ya from an ex-elder!

  As I stated in the previous post about the F&DS...
  Christians...any Christians...are considered either...faithful and discreet or evil depending on their relationship with God.
  So to ask...do we need a Faithful and Discreet Slave...is to ask...do we need Christians...it's not a matter of need...that's just who we are.

  And if we read in the Bible what the meetings were like and what information was studied at those meetings(Acts 2:42 ;20:7,8)...we see no need for a special class of Christians in control.

  i thought i would toss out a few group names with a distinctive spiritual bent to their lyrics...and see what yall thought of them.. creed is big right now...lyrics are...well...you tell me.. same with sixpence none the richer...collective soul...kendall payne(she does that theme song for the show popular)...and others.. there are a number of popular, secular groups with a noticable spiritual message to their lyrics.. any thoughts!?.

  The way the song is sung...with a tone of anger in his voice(ya know the righteous anger you're allow ta have ) makes it say what we feel all the more so...than just the thoughts of the lyrics. Thanx again

  hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.

  i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.

  a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

  Thanx for your posts all the quotes. As the WTBTS has admitted to in the past....Anyone who is doing God's will...is a"Faithful and Discreet Slave"
  Between Jesus' day and now...anyone has the choice to be a FDS or an "evil slave for that matter.

  ....i have always heard the term, "dedication", used as part and parcle of the term/act of baptism.

  you know, "dedication and baptism".. just recently, i've been wondering, why?

  it's not that i don't believe dedicating oneself to jehovah is a noble thing, i'm just wondering what the reasoning is for formally linking dedication with baptism.. have i missed something really simple here?

  Your post got me thinkin' how glad I am...thinkin' back on it now...that when I got baptized in '74...I did not have to say the words that later JW's had to say.

  There are 2 questions...as we know that one is asked at baptism...the second one now includes a dedication to the Org.

  I dedicated my life...at the time...to Jehovah and Jesus... :)

  just the way I would have wanted it!
