You are opening yourself up to a lifetime of heart ache by getting involved with a Jehovah's Witness.

My point was that all the rules and regs and politics of how to deal with something that in my opinion is a personal matter of faith is complete gobbledegook.
People should be able to relate to their god, higher power, spiritual center or whatever, in whatever means they need to as long as it doesn't negatively affect others and/or their needs to relate in a different way.
The rest is gobbledegook.

Tonight's memorial - did you go?
by dmouse inmy wife has just left for the memorial.. just before she went she asked me to come...this was the second year in a row that i declined.
i hated seeing her so sad, i almost agreed to go just to cheer her up but that would betray her in a very real sense.
to go to the memorial would be an admission in her eyes (and other jws) that i still believe deep down that it is the truth.

You cannot imagine how thankful I am to have been able to get up this morning and read your posts.
Yesterday was extremely difficult for me. I told my mother about 2 months ago that I was thinking about going this year. She put on the full court press to get me to go. In the end, I just couldn't.
The only relationship I have ever had with my mother was based on guilt. The only relationship I have ever had with my dad was based on fear and intimidation.
Sometimes I say to myself, its the society's fault for brainwashing them into these automatons. But recently, I've been saying to myself, no, they made the decision to become witnesses. They were in control of their beliefs and behavior.
The witnesses appeal to a sick desire in people to be #1 in the world and to be able to control other people's actions through mass intimidation. Yes, the society is guilty, but all witnesses share in this guilt to some degree by association.
While I understand why some here decided to go to the memorial, I am also proud of those who did not.
great big hugs to all who were affected by this over the weekend.

If God created man perfect, did he have to recreate him with an immune system after he became imperfect?

Some witnesses can be rich tennis professional and in good standing. Others will work their night jobs so they can pioneer and hope to run into Venus at a convention where they will live their current life vicariously through her while both awaiting the new system. Will there be competition in the new system?

Obituary Pioneers
by LovesDubs inthings have gotten desperate in the us for the borg.
they lowered the hours required by the pioneers to 70 and there was this little surge in the number of pioneers and yet there was a negative "increase" in this country.
so...desperate times call for desperate measures.

Describe JW/ A mind altering cult/ Dangerous Cult
by nojw86 ini am sort of interested to your responces if someone might ask a ?
about the jw how might you describe the jw?
would they to your personal opinion be a mind altering cult or a dangerous cult?
-
joelbear
I classify a cult as any organization that uses psychological pressure (like shunning) as opposed to leading by example, teaching through logic and fact, etc.

Mother-In-Law 2
by silentlambs inwell here it is folks the response to my wife's letter.
i guess i have become more evil between letters.
once again any ideas as to how to answer this type of logic?
-

Silent,
All you can do is show love. Reason is useless with someone who is involved in a cult. Love is the answer. Do all things with love and you will prosper. But you already know that I am sure.

The WT vultures will NOT feed on my carcass!
by expatbrit inthis is sort of a connected subject to englishman's prior post.
it's a difficult subject, so i'm sorry if it upsets anyone.
but it's been on my mind for a few weeks.. i'm sure that for all of us wt "survivors" (thanks for that term, esmeralda), the idea of our funeral being used as a propagandistic sales pitch for the wt is repugnant.. but, for those of us whose family are still jw's, it's a very real possibility.

It is in my will that my partner Mitch is executor of my estate and in charge of arranging my memorial service.
I want my funeral to be a party where people remember the good times we've had. That is the stuff of life.
