i love canada, but i would rather a warmer climate.. to me australia would also be a nice place to live, large country, english, and warmer than here.. i'd love to live in the us too.
having travelled all over the US I can say there is no single best place to live. living with loved ones is the best, the whole country is beautiful in different ways, i'm sure this is true of other parts of the world also. i love ocean, mtns, desert, forest and the plains. the cities all look the same to me with a few interesting buildings in each, but they are becoming more and more uniform. they all have basically the same amenities. cities with neat views of nature are cool, like Portland and Seattle. I live about 20 miles north of Atlanta and have a nice hill and woods and stream behind my house. I wish I could live further out, closer to the start of the Appalachians, like Dahlonega. Georgia I think will always be my homebase.

they had just come from the son's football game where they had watched him play.

Of course, they were clearly not Jehovah's Witnesses. They didn't seem to be followers of Satan either. They seemed like a wonderful happy family sharing high quality time together. I am happy for them.
I didn't know any happy families when I was growing up as a witness. My family was very unhappy. We went on one vacation the entire time I was at home and that was when I was about 8. We had a lot of fun, but we never did it again. The only time I spent with my parents was in field service and at the meetings. The rest of the time I was out on my own in the neighborhood, and later out with friends from school or witness friends. I don't think my case was unique. I don't think any of my friends had close relationships with their parents either.
I was tempted to tell the young boy how lucky he was and that he should appreciate every minute he got with his parents, but from his demeanor I think he already did appreciate it. And they are not unique either. All my heterosexual friends who are married with kids clearly value their children over everything else and work hard to make their family unit a happy one.
Witnesses just missed the boat on how to accomplish this.

i am definitely a generalist, i have a bit of interest in 1000 things.
this is one of the reasons i have always been so unhappy, because i have attempted to force myself to be a specialist.

I spent the weekend in a wonderful smorgasbord (my new favorite word to use) of activities. watched tennis, played about 20 new board games at a game fest, enjoyed interesting conversation with a friend, read some Harry Potter, worked on my game designs and painted some of the figures i am putting out in the yard. went to Michaels for supplies for another project I have planned.
aaaaah so much to do, and it all makes me happy.

well, there really is nothing new to say is there. they aren't political. most churches have switched from bible doctrine to political causes to keep their people interested. a few smaller churches offer self help, advice on living type of discussions, but good grief, how many times can you reanalyze this stuff.
most televangelists are the same way, they get donations by scaring people with headlines

Well I was at the watchtower farm and I was homosexual so basically everything I did was a homosexual activity and I did watch what I did so, yes.
Did I ever have sex with another guy at the Farm. My conscience wouldn't have allowed it, even though I of course had a number of attractions and crushes. Seeing 40 or 50 men naked in the showers after work in the factory was sensory overload for me. I tended to hang around guys I wasn't attracted to most of the time because I could be friends with them without the sexual tension. I had no attraction to any of the roommates I had there.
Sigh, I did fall in love with someone though and my passion was so deep that I told him about my feelings and was whisked away 2 weeks later. I was 20 years old and terribly confused. I was really given no advice. I came close to having a nervous breakdown. I would lay in bed and couldn't stop shaking. I was analyzed as having problems with the demons (they could in to the house of god?) Of the three guys on my JC, two were very kind and suggested that I try pioneering which would keep me busy and not offer the temptations of being around hundreds of men. The other was very cold and businesslike and just wanted me out of there.
Looking back, now that my gaydar is activated and thoroughly trained, I know there were other gay men there.
I personally don't see how a life at bethel would make anyone happy, but I think it would be especially hard for a gay person.
i actually have several reasons why i don't resent my witness upbringing, but it sure came in handy today.. last year i posted about helping 50 kids run in the seattle kids marathon at my daughter's school.
the event was a blast and while it was a ton of work, seeing the joy on the kids' faces when they crossed the finish line made it all worth it.. this morning i spoke to the entire student body at my daughter's school at their monthly spirit assembly.
if i hadn't been raised a witness, giving talks from the time i was five, i never would have attempted such a thing.
i agree. i have very good public speaking abilities.

however, an examination of the 3 scriptures that mention paradise raises questions as to the validity of the wt's claims.
for instance, at luke 23:43 jesus tells the criminal beside him that he (the criminal) will be with him (jesus) in paradise.
paradise is looking into the eyes of the one you love
or a good cheeseburger.
