  Whose Voice Should We Listen To?

  to the household of god, israel, and all those who go with... may you have peace!.

  i was recently directed to post some truths about the harlot, babylon the great, including who she is (i.e., those who profess to be in union with christ, but are not, and so commit fornication with the "kings of the earth" (e.g., persons such as popes, gb members, and other so-called "leaders" who believe they have been given charge over a "kingdom"... but have not... yet (revelation 17:12)... and when they are, it is soley for the purpose of destroying the harlot (revelation 17:13, 16-18)).. some have taken issue with this truth (who babylon the great is), and praise jah, our lord has given me more to share with you on that matter.

  some of you may have already received this truth; however, for those who have not, i share the following, taken from chapters 8 and 9 of the proverbs:.

  I don't think Shelby expects anyone to believe her words just because she says that they are from Jesus. In fact, she has repeatedly said that each of us should go to Jesus directly, (if we choose) and to pray to hear for ourselves. She is simply sharing the understanding that she has, in kind spirit.

  Her posts make me think, and often push me to understand more - whether I am currently in agreement with her thoughts or not.

  As for the hearing and listening thing: agreeing and listening is supposed to equate to the same thing as seeing and hearing. This is what Jesus referred to when he spoke about, 'He who has ears to hear, let him hear..." (Mark 4:9) Obviously those listening to him had physically heard him speak - but they had not necessarily understood or agreed with what He spoke. Also " so that, 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding..." Mark 4:12

  He speaks very well, (Of course; he's Stephen Fry) and he did sound as if he cares very much about the topic. He pulled me in by stating immediately that he respects the individual right to faith and expression of that faith, and then focused on what he considered the faults of the organization.

  But I would love to see the entire debate with the opposing views.

  Getting into Arguments with JW's...

  i'm trying to fade away, but i sometimes find myself in discussions or arguments with jw family/friends/white haired virgin elders.

  now, i usually have them beat on things but i'm not very experienced, so i was thinking if you guys could help me put together a list of completely unanswerable questions to pose to my jw friends/family/elders so they can stop bugging me.

  if i keep asking them questions they simply cannot answer, then they might leave them alone.

  Terry's Amazing Stories

  am i the only one who think's a lot of the amazing stories terry come up with are fabricated or completely untrue?

  every week he tells us how he by chance ran into a jw, mormon, evangilcial, etc.

  and comes up with witty answers every time to counter every point they make and than have them running in fear.

  There is only one Terry on this forum, right?

  I ask because I'm surprised that anyone would have something negative to say about his character. I may not always agree with his viewpoint on various topics, but I do find his threads interesting. The common theme underlying most of them seems to be that of promoting self-examination/critical thinking. And on that, he and I are in agreement.

  (This is assuming that there isn't some other Terry that I've never heard of.)

  i'm not defending the actions of jones, but based on those standards big ben has now been accused twice of sexual assult.

  Why God CANNOT FORGIVE YOU.....but someone else can!

  few, if any, christians understand forgiveness in judaism and how it is very different from christianity.. .

  ever see the bumper sticker that reads: .

  "christians aren't perfect--just forgiven"?.

  Terry - I cannot speak for what different theologians teach or think.

  But a truly penitent heart would seek to make amends with the one he/she offended.

  Jesus told us to confront the one who wrongs us...(which gives them a chance to admit wrongdoing and make amends/ask forgiveness) and to forgive the one who asks forgiveness, from the heart and no matter how many times they come and repent to us - so that our Father in heaven can forgive us when we ask for it.

  Also, I don't know about Judaism today, but the Israelites used to offer sin offerings to God; and they used to send a goat into the desert to take away all the sins of the people once a year. So there was still the thought of receiving God's forgiveness for sins that go against God's commands, on top of individual forgiveness for individual sins against another person. Christians have never needed a goat. We have Jesus interceding on our behalf, as he has been for two thousand years.

  The Demise of Babylon the Great: When?

  very recently, a dear one asked me as to where babylon the greats destruction fit into the timetable i posted as to the chronology of events from immediately after the great tribulation to the culmination of the second resurrection.

  at the time, i did not know what to answer as i had not considered the matter nor been given any specifics regarding that event.

  before i could write that i did not know, however, our lord stopped me and gave me the answer:.
