Sorry but I am not seeing any sort of connection between these individuals being JW's and the choices they make to go to meetings.
One poster even brought up that the WTS discouraged this behavior.
When someone can prove that being a JW is somehow connected to these people making an individual choice to attend meetings when they shouldnt have then there might be some sort of point in this thread.
Otherwise, you people look like a bunch of malcontents looking to attack a group of people with generalizations that have no merit.
You really think these people were trying to infect others on purpose?
Chicken POX is usually not picked up by adults because most have already had it and have enough anti-bodies to fight it off.
The sister going in service wrapped up is a little over the top, but over-enthusiasm isnt evil people.
There are sick people around you all the time. You want people to just isolate themselves everytime they get a sniffle? There are obviously circumstances and certain diseases they should do this, but for the most part teh best way to feel better with a cold, is to go about your regular routine if you can.
swansea paedophile in 17-year barrage of child abusesunday, march 21, 2010, 12:00a pensioner branded a "filthy paedophile" after being convicted of a barrage of sustained child abuse, which started over 43 years ago, has been jailed for 19 years.. gordon brian redmond was convicted at lewes crown court of 18 indecent assaults against children including six charges of rape and one charge of actual bodily harm.. the 72-year-old had already pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault against children.. the sexual offences took place while redmond, now of excelsior house, princess way, swansea, was living in brighton from 1967 to 1984. seventeen of the charges were sample counts examples of ongoing behaviour and offences.. the jury was unable to reach a verdict on a seventh charge of rape, and judge michael lawson qc ordered the charge to lie on file.. sentencing redmond, judge lawson said no sentence could truly reflect his actions.. "there is no mathematical calculation i can do that can match the harm that you have done with a certain number of years in custody," he said.. "nor can i undo the damage that has been done or bring peace and comfort to those who have suffered as a result of your selfish behaviour.".
redmond's sentence had to be determined according to the guidelines applicable at the time of the offences guidelines that judge lawson said reflected "an outdated view of serious offences".. redmond became a strict jehovah's witness in the 1970s and moved to a farm in pontyberem in 1984.. the offence of actual bodily harm took place in november 2006.. judge lawson paid tribute to the prosecution witnesses for their courage throughout the trial, particularly redmond's first victim.. "she has displayed a generosity of spirit throughout this trial that you do not deserve and which you never showed to your victims," he said.. prior to sentencing, defence barrister bernard richmond qc said his client was already enduring terrible punishment for his crimes.. "this rather proud, arrogant, cocky, difficult, bolshy, very full of himself, scary man, who everyone was supposed to look up to and admire, now stands in the dock as someone of very little money, no future, and with a reputation as a filthy paedophile," he said.. "he has been shunned by the jehovah's witnesses.
his wife, christine, has been forced to choose between her faith and her husband, and has chosen her faith.".
Curious, are you going to put a bunny laying eggs on it too?
I mean, look, I agree to a certain point on some of the topics, but those are based off of interpretations of the BIBLE.
On the other hand, most Christian churches offer some form of Easter celebration that usually consists of two things that dont allude to, nor have any sort of Christian connection.
While you see them rejecting communion as rejecting Christ, they see Christendom's celebration of Easter as rejecting Jehovah.
Effectively the same exact thing both sides are accusing each other of.
What's worse? Passing up communion based on an interpretation spoon-fed to them by thier spiritual leaders, or honoring Jesus's death with two pagan symbols of fertility?
this is my first post, though have been lurking here for some time.
maybe will share my story at some point...... i have been discussing the blood doctrine with a family member.
we discussed the principle behind the law to abstain from blood was to recognise the sanctity of life and god as the life giver when a life was taken and should not apply to transfusions when no life is taken but aim is to preserve life.
First of calling them "My Dubbies" and wrapping up all of your comments in the nice bouquet of condescencion probably isnt a good way to reach anyone. I think that is perhaps why your conversations dont go anywhere with them. Plus, you try to steer the conversation in one direction rather than having the wisdom to plant and let GOD water.
Most JW's couldnt care less about any appointment in 1919. That is something most ex-JW, and anti_JW focus on because it easily attacked.

Read Matthew Chapter 12 and ask you friend why Jesus healed people on the Sabath, why David was not stoned for eating the Levites showbread, and what the following phrase means:
I DESIRE MERCY NOT SACRIFICE
Matthew 12: 1-7
1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."
3 He answered, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread—which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. 5 Or haven't you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple desecrate the day and yet are innocent? 6 I tell you that one [a] greater than the temple is here. 7 If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' [b] you would not have condemned the innocent.
my wife is a baptized publisher and i guess everything is going okay for the moment.
i believe that slowly the love bombing is beginning to wane now that she is in.
her mother, of course, is still sending 'encouragement' now that she is dedicating her life to jehovah the organization.. but, of course, the tests are coming forward and my wife is trying to 'endure to the end.'.
Perhaps the JW are just what she needs at this time.
They were there when I needed them, but eventually I outgrew them and moved on.
Having a non-JW husband will give her ways out of alot of stuff eventually.
But, make no mistake about it, the more you discourage her, the more some will be telling her to be expecting this persecution, and this persecution comes from.....
i stumbled across this website a few months back and have often read the topics posted but this is the first time that i've posted anything myself.. all my family are jws - i got baptized when i was 17 but started to fade when i was about 20 and finally left at 22 when i managed to escape to university and move away from home.
ten years on and i am still out of the org but never disfellowshipped (although i would have been if they'd have known what i've been up to!).
the relationship with my family is not great - i get on with some members better than others.
