I found this amazing song! And since a big number of the people on this board are unbelievers I thought you might enjoy it ;)
IMO it is pure gold!
(if you are a easily offended religious person, you might want to skip it)

islam, a death cult with 1.6 billion followers.
almost a quarter of the worlds population.
in many places apostasy is punished by death.. jws say they cant kill people for apostasy because they have to obey the laws of the land, but what if the jws ruled the land like the muslims are in many countries?....

Totally shocking that this is happening 2016, when so many amazing advances have been made, people are still stuck in their delusions to the point of murder.
so at around the 46 min mark - the are talking to this guy from ukraine who was a zoologist.. he talks about how he was a staunch evolutionist (who wasn't able to prove evolution to himself, by the way).
then when he studied nature through the lens of evolution - he found that nature contradicted evolution.. his big point came when he said - "imagine emptying a box of letter blocks on a table, and the encyclopedia britannica appears, or could a computer program come by chance.
so who could dna come by chance.".
This is apparently a new series on JW broadcasting which will essentially uses the argument from authority (fallacy) to show that well educated people can be JWs and reject evolution.
There was a second video after this one with a "scientist" who is making the same irreducible complexity argument. (at: 49 minutes)
He is talking about how amazing the numbers of neurons in a certain part of the brain is....
"so when you think of the complexity of all that, how is it possible that that is just by random chance? It has to be guided!"
Guided by natural selection maybe?...
He then tells us that the idea of one God really appealed to him... Since he came from a hindu background with millions of gods. The trinity also took a hit because he thinks it has more than one God... He has been drinking to much of the kool-aid.
as an ex-witness i have enjoyed becoming open to other people's views and understanding.
therefore this o.p is on the subject of psychic powers.
my own exsperience i can't explain rationally, but as a child many times i had dreams that came true in detail, yet many may explain it away as deja vu.
Thanks for the link Cofty, which having read it seemed to dismiss heart felt intuition against rational thinking.
"heart felt intuition" Is basically a quick assessment by your subconscious, which mostly relies on your feelings and experiences.
Intuition in an area you have much experience can be a really good way to asses something fast and with high accuracy.
Intuition in a field you have little expiration in is a good way to trick yourself, thinking the intuition is equally accurate.
It is not very reliable because it faces problems in more complex matters, that usually requires more complex and deliberate thinking.
so we received the obligatory "shoved under the door" memorial invitation and "return to jehovah" brochure the other week.
it also had a hand written note from two elders saying "we love and miss you" etc.... so why then when one of them saw us at the grocery store, did he pretend to not see us and then ignore and quickly walk away?.
the sincerity is wonderful..... dont get me wrong, we dont want any attention from them, but it's an interesting observation anyway.....
The instructions are clear:
Also, please follow closely the instructions in the May 23, 2010, letter to all bodies of elders as you endeavor to invite inactive ones to the Memorial and special talk. As you meet with them, please convey the love and concern of the Governing Body and the local congregation. (1 Thess. 2:7, 8) Offer to help with transportation or to provide any other practical assistance so that they can be in attendance. As noted above, please ensure that they have received a personal copy of the Return to Jehovah brochure. A modest supply of the brochure should be kept on hand (though not displayed) at public witnessing locations for the benefit of inactive ones
This year, in addition to visiting inactive ones, you should make a special effort to invite dis-fellowshipped ones to the Memorial and the special public talk. (See the Shepherding textbook, chap-ter 10, paragraph 1, for direction on who qualify to be visited.) A copy of Return to Jehovah should be left with such individuals. As a reminder, the visit should be kind and positive, but brief.
They are required to convey their love for you. It has nothing to do with actual feelings...
my husband and i have been out for a long time, maybe fifteen years, i must say we are in a bit of a nowhere land spiritually, we find it impossible to attend any other church.
we really resent so much of how they messed up our and our children's lives.
we can't get back all those 25 years we were in.
my first one!
even though i got it saturday, march 26, in the mail in an envelope addressed to "my dear neighbor.".
it's the thought that counts..
one thing i like to do to test a theory is to take things to extremes or to their logical conclusion to see if the premises still hold.
very often, a claim that seems to make sense at a superficial level falls apart when you start to stretch it a little.. so let's play a game.. suppose the 2nd amendment is valid, that some "well regulated militia" really is necessary to hold the government to account.. obviously when this was drafted the government had access to the weapons of it's day which would be muskets!
so muskets all round.
I don't think this is a fair view of the matter. Look at countries that recently had revulotions, a lot of people rising up against a dictator will be enough even if they don't have modern weapons. Sure, some got help from the outside but they had to do most of the legwork themselves. And the losses they sustained might have been much less if they would have had better equipment. The weapon is only half if it too, if you never used a firearm in your life it won't matter how advanced it is, you will still need practice.
Arming the people to keep a balance is a good idea even if their weapons are inferior, I think other countries have shown that. Even those with citizens without much firearms at all.
i'm curious about the following:.
1) how long have you been a fader for?.
2) how often do you still get pressure from congregation members and/or family to return as an active witness?.
First I should probably say something about my situation. I was never baptized so it is a little different for me, but I decided to fade to make the transition somewhat smooth and keep the uncertainty which allows me to socialize with witnesses. I don't want them to know my true feelings about the org, unnecessary to be viewed as an apostate when you are not even baptized :P I also don't want the elders to pressure my family to distance themselves from me.
1) How long have you been a fader for?
Started maybe 3-4 years ago, and I was probably finished a year later.
2) How often do you still get pressure from congregation members and/or family to return as an active witness?
For me it is only tidbits here and there from my family, they have stopped inviting me to assemblies or the memorial but they still like to tell me the dates ;) But I would not say I feel any pressure, maybe some nudging now and again from congregation members but I rarely meet them anymore. Maybe 6 moths to a year, the frequency will probably drop future with time.
3) What is the longest period you have ever known anyone to successfully fade? A successful fade in my view, would be someone who has faded for a period of time but no longer receives any pressure to return to active service (completely left alone).
Not sure
4) If you have been a fader for more than two years, do you fear you would eventually have to face DA or DF?
Rephrasing this question to fit my situation: do you fear you would eventually be treated as an apostate because your views got exposed?
Not really, I am very tight-lipped with my thoughts when it comes to any JWs except my family. And I don't think I could say anything that I have not told them already that would push them "over the edge". I usually update them with the latest apostate news :P Sadly they are uberdubs and always come up with excuses, at least they have realized that what I am saying isn't lies(they even agree that many apostates are genuine...), but they still defend the WT :/
5) As faders, how many of you are being treated as if you were DF'd/DA'd?
I am treated like nothing happened by my family and relatives but my friends in the congregation are mostly gone, but by my own choice. I distanced myself from them when I faded. When we meet however we act like everything is fine and that is nice I guess.
6) Have you faded rather than DA'd due to the possible loss family or is it because you have no network of friends outside the Org?
Both I guess, mostly for my family.
7) If you consider yourself a fader how many meetings/assemblies/ field service groups do you still attend on average per month?
I am mostly faded, the last JW thing I attended was the summer assembly.
8) As a fader do you feel that the Org is completely powerless over your life?
As faded*
Yeah! Liberating isn't it? :D
After reading your questions I am wondering if we mean the same thing with fade?
To me it is a gradual process where you remove yourself from the JWs until you are totally out or have minimal involvement with the org. This to avoid negative consequences.
Hope my contribution helps you even if it is lightly different :)
i haven't posted anything for a bit, but wanted to express how i am losing this battle.
it has been over 3 years now since i woke up about watchtower.
the battle that i am talking about is the tug of war with my wife (i adore her immensely), watchtower is winning, she simply will not give in to my so-called negative thoughts about the religion that we are in.
I don't know how you have approached the situation, maybe you already know this but..
Don't make it your goal to get her to understand that the JWs are wrong, instead make it your goal to help her learn to think for herself and draw her own conclusions. That way she can try her believes with her reasoning instead of someone else shoving her how it is done.
You can rarely wake someone up, they have to wake themselves up :)
