My Daughter also farted. But she also said out loud when she was about 3, "I stepped in sheep shit." LOL.....I was able to blame my JW father in law. He had said that once when she was with him. I started to laugh and so did several people around me.

At a 2 day assembly ...the point that the brother spoke about that drove me mad....."don't hug your husband, wife or child during prayer".
by crazy2try ini attended one day of a two day assembly and did ok until the very last talk.
the brother was from bethal and well jw's pay closer attention to their talks, cause that is when some new info is given,,,right.
well anyways i lost focus and began to daydream, cause it became one of those talks that just talks about wasting time.

The brother was from Bethal and well JW's pay closer attention to their talks, cause that is when some new info is given,,,right. Well anyways I lost focus and began to daydream, cause it became one of those talks that just talks about wasting time. I was so annoyed.
Anyways, the brother then started to talk about stumbling others. He goes on to say that you should not hold onto, hug, touch the hair of your husband, wife, child during the prayers, cause it might bother others who feel that prayer is a one on one connection between you and god. I always put my arm around my husband and vice versa. Or reach over and pull my children close.
My 10 yr old son ...who is listening ....leans over and says "Mom, how could it bother them if their eyes are closed?" I actually laughed out loud. He said exactly what I was thinking.
I thought the brother would only mention it just once,,,,but he repeated it several times even recapping at the end. I was so angry at the end. I think that was one of the worst talks I have ever heard. I was so mad about it. That was when I realised I can't take it anymore.

Immunizations?
by crazy2try ini have a question.
today at work a woman was saying that she was upset because the foster mother of her children had taken the children to the dr and they received their immunization shots.
she told a co-worker that she was mad because they did not respect her beliefs.

Thanks for the comments. I am not even sure if this lady is a witness. She doesn't look (tatoos up and down her arms bad teeth) or act like one, but I was surprised by the reaction that she received. It was kind of "Oh those crazy witnesses don't give their kids vacines." I was floored and countered it. With "I was raised as a witness and all my brothers, my children and I had our vacines, that was her choice, not a witness doctrine." But now I can see that this lady may have been holding on to a old doctrin and I was only half right in my statement.

I was on the pill just before my hubby and I got married 14 yrs ago. I went off it when we wanted to have children. About 5 yrs ago, he got a vas, we didn't bring the elders into it. I don't think we even considered doing that. When I told some of our witnesse friends, non of them acted like it was wrong.

What I loved about this movie was that each scene was so beautiful. I couldn't think of any part of that movie that was not beautiful in some form.

Jordan, I apologize, I haven't been on line for a few days. It is late now, but I wanted to say that I read your whole post and really enjoyed it. I agree with much of what you have said and do understand your point of view. I wish I had more time to write, but will come back soon. Off the top of my head Jordan, just like there is such a variety of Brothers and Sisters in the org, we have the same here in the forum. Some have been really hurt by what they have been through and many are living testiments to the going ons within the org. I agree I have known and still do know many fine brother's and sisters who would never lie about their time, or say a cross word to anyone, and seemed very happy in their work. I always admired them and wanted to be like them. But I could not find the joy that they have, I went to every meeting, commented, went out in service, brought my children, struggled to teach them, but the encouragment from the stage that I got was do more, do more. I started to actually feel sick sitting there. There were moments I really felt like I was praising Jehovah, but it was during the songs. I began to feel like I was going to cry during each song. When I drive to work everyday, I see a beautiful sunrise and feel I can give more praise to him in those few moments then I can give in a whole meeting.
I feel the meetings should be a time where we praise God continuously and remind each other of the love that he has shared for us. I don't hear it. I don't see it. Even when you mentioned what we sent to Haiti, I am sorry, I had already started to fade, but I remember the assistence we sent to New Orleans. When I heard that we could send fellow brothers and sisters, I was so excited. Both my husband and I are medically trained, but they announced that only certain bro and sis would be allowed to go, devastated me. I knew I wouldn't qualify. And when years ago they did the same for the quick builds. Only qualified bro and sis can go in good standing. I remember as a child, that was a wonderful experience and I helped my mom pass out water to the brothers. Things have changed, at least for me. I need to feel like I am praising God, not be reminded that I need to do more.
Sorry I went off in a diff direction, Like I said I am tired and it is late. I will check back in and chat another time.

As Witnesses we were Trained to be Obedient - Rather than Show Love
by flipper ini can list many examples of this : probably the most glaring thing i saw proving this in 1982 was when an 83 year old sister died of a heart attack on the stage at an assembly part where she gave her experience then sat down next to me and died right on my shoulder on the stage.
i motioned to a brother sitting near me on the stage to help me carry her off the stage - which we did - and the brother and i behind the curtain tried administering cpr.
a registered nurse ran behind the curtain from the audience also - but the annoying thing is the elder giving the talk just kept right on talking to the 3,000 in the audience with no reference to what had just happened !

For me, one of the strongest moments of seeing this was when a woman that was studying with my mother in law was in a horrible car accident. My Mother-in-law received word that she had died. The woman had only attended a few meeting, but was very familiar with the teachings. On scene of the accident the woman told the responders that she refused to take blood to save her life.
This story was told to me by my mother-in-law two days before the woman's funeral service. I asked her if she was going to attend or go over to the family's home and in some way show some congergation support. She said "No" because the woman had not been attending regular.
I think my MIL saw the shock in my eyes. But she didn't say anything. That night I did a lot of thinking. I have always considered my MIL a wonderful woman and a witness. I was shocked.

I have a question. Today at work a woman was saying that she was upset because the foster mother of her children had taken the children to the dr and they received their immunization shots. She told a co-worker that she was mad because they did not respect her beliefs. I later asked the co-worker what the ladies beliefs were based off of. She said "She is one of those Jehovah's Witnesses and doesn't believe in getting her kids the shots."
Now am I wrong...I grew up as a witness and never heard that this was an issue for fellow witnesses. My dad (elder) mom (pioneer) had made sure that we had our shots. I made sure that my two children receive theirs.
Was the lady just looking for a something to blame her own decisions on. I'll tell ya, from what I saw I didn't see witness. Let me know if I am wrong. Cause I am going to run into her again.
