i'm around half way through ray's second book and have just read about this and the way the gb knows it but insists on implying that it is a pattern from the first century to be followed !!!
unbelievable....how could they be so deceitful and sleep at night ...let alone pray...??
?.
Not a captive - Thank you for your kind words I have sent you a PM.
Ray explains in detail how the scriptures the JWs use to promote 'house to house' have been misconstrued by them to fit their needs. I find that so abhorrent. How dare they. And how many times will I say those last three words I wonder...I seem to say them at least weekly at the moment!

a couple of months back, my son asked me to get in touch with my jw/elder father.
he is planning a trip to colorado to visit his mother's family there, and thought it would be good to see his grandfather.
since i have no contact with my father, i asked my cousin to broach the subject with him.
I'm sad to hear your dad didnt reply. The phone call idea is a good one but only if you can cope if he just tells you he doesnt want to talk...??

closure isn't needed.
in georgia recently, a religious "criminal" died.
this one had been brought to account.
Absolutely brilliant letter ..well done to you Maeve. What a good idea if all of us did it in different parts of the world (those that can I mean)....you've set me thinking ...

lately i've notice how few people i'm around practice kindness.. it is, frankly, apalling to me.. i don't see any reason to be rude.
there is too much of that already.. when somebody makes a mistake i try to let it drop and not mention it or give them a dig.. why?
how hard is it to be kind?.
I'm totally with you on this Terry I think its probably the most valuable quality to have or acquire - the showing of kindness. Its free after all and it works wonders on all sorts of people in all sorts of situations.

for those who haven't read the book awakening of a jehovah's witness by diane wilson, i highly recommend it.
she covers so much - not only her touching personal experiences, but a host of "hard proof" as she quotes from wt publications.. .
here's one statement that diane exposed on the subject of rape.
HintofLime - Good points well made.

i used to wake up early (sometimes really early if i still had to study my wt) and got right off to the kh.
then it was afternoon service well into the evening, which left me just enough time to read a few articles from the new magazines or a few chapters from the bible before i was off to bed.
sunday for me really is sort of a day of rest, and not in some sabbatical sense of the word either.
Yes I remember the busy Sundays...now its similar for me ...chilling out, reading, tv, visiting....whatever. Good times.

on the 2nd june a taxi driver got up and drove around an area of the lake district in the uk shooting people ...some intentionally, some at random.
the effect on the community has been terrible, and this includes my sister and her family who live in the central town whitehaven where it happened.
my neice was locked down in a shop while the killer shot people on the street alongside.
JourneyOn he had a gun licence legally for hunting rabbits etc in the countryside, many do. He was 52, a 'normal' popular if quiet guy. He had grievances though with people from even 20 years previously and following a quarrel the day before he decided to go on a rampage. Tragic indeed.
