let's talk about power in the wt.
we know that the watchtower started as an all-american thing (or nearly all-american thing) but it isn't that anymore.
now the non-american brothers and sisters are the majority, and, unless i'm wrong, much of the growth is taking place in countries like mexico, brazil and others.
I agree with OTWO its the GB and the lawyers and co who run the show...they've kept the focus on the GB always...and are accentuating it more than ever these days...they've made it impossible for anyone 'outside' that little New York club to take over control in any way...

it is peculiar.
she called the woman i work for to set up a visit after noon tomorrow to talk to me.. i don't know this sister very well.
she is from a congregation i attended about six years ago.
I think I'd keep your conversation restricted to your disagreement with the org issues, if she's genuinely looking for help herself with doubts that will help her. I wouldnt impart any details about your personal life because as others have said she might be looking to gossip, and be using her friendship with your boss to access you which she could then maybe explain away as accidental. I think the way you handled her last time was impressive and I reckon you'll be fine ...speak your mind....

after leaving this religion has there been anything that you have done that is completely separate, or negative from their belief/control system.
yet from a worldy viewpoint you make a difference,,, a positive stamp in some aspect of everyday life ?.
for an example to get things started, one thing that i have done is trained my dog to help people in the hospital.
Its wonderful isn't it to finally be able to be a worthwhile member of society and have a valuable input if we choose to... Loz x
i saw a jw girl i used to work with a few weeks back who was married for about 8 years and has 2 children , she was in a right state and told me her husband had just left her for a work collegue and said he no longer loved her !
within a month i see her again and she took him back within a wk of him going to live with this other woman , she told me she blamed herself for not having sex often enough !and they were working on their marriage !
why would you want someone who said they no longer loved you ?
Awful awful awful....they have women in the org in a total Catch 22 ...devil and the deep blue....just awful...

i just wanted to introduce myself.
my name is chris and i'm on my way out of the only "society" i've known.. i was raised a witness and have been a ministerial servant for a while now.
i recently notified the elder body that i will be stepping down and it will soon be official.
Welcome aboard...this is a good place to find...many of us have gone through excrutiating times on our way out but its still preferable to be true to yourself...and however down you may feel at times it really does get better ...follow the good advice and take your time and read plenty ...at least your wife is with you and you can support each other...take care...look forward to reading more from you..

Yes I am indeed from across the pond as you so nicely put it ...but make no mistake Satan is over here quite often in his desire to corrupt and destroy. I am afraid that I am unable to take the advice you offer so delightfully, though I do note its value. It wouldn't be financially viable for me to follow it you see. Moreover, husband (of grey hairdom) would look a trifle silly wandering around in his grunts awaiting new 'drip dry' clothing which he would possibly reject since he seems to favour the most difficult materials, ironing wise. I would hate to bring scoffing and scorn on his head if he were to attempt to conduct his daily life without his full attire...and indeed the hilarity that would ensue could be dangerous for those involved. This side of the pond, as you so nicely put it (again), the drip dry variety of clothing leaves a lot to be desired, conjuring up images of Bri Nylon grey/white shirts...so perhaps you would rethink your previous and possibly hasty advice on your side of said pond, as I so nicely put it.
