When men were made Elders, did you notice their personality change?
by carvin ini thought about this after reading flippers thread about how elders are appointed.
great thread by the way.. i can recall many times when guys were made elders, and sometimes even made ms that their personility would change almost over night.
i knew many nice, kind, elders and ms but many especially newly appionted ones would be, at times, just difficult to be around.

As a Witness - What did you Notice in How Elders Got Appointed ?
by flipper ini found it amazing being raised in the witnesses to see exactly who got appointed sometimes as an elder.
it seemed that the criteria in my opinion had more to do with getting 10 hours a month in field service, answering at meetings, carrying microphones as a ministerial servant, or handling the magazine or literature counter !
in doing these " functions " and attending meetings on a regular basis - a man was thought to be considered " spiritually strong " and qualify to be an elder and serve on judicial committees judging people's personal problems.

Yea I am glad Mr Flipper but I'm still so ashamed that I promoted this sect to my own flesh and blood. And we all saw this guy kicking his kids and I for one complained about it....like someone said it's all about who is backing the guy...

So many years I stressed about why seemingly unsuitable men (in scriptural terms) were appointed - in the end I had to face the fact that it was a corrupt system...in particular one bachelor bro with a family full of JWs who had a heart of stone was appointed and put his 'groups' through hell...another guy who used to actually physically 'kick' his kids in the book study group and swear at them on FS is now a bigshot elder...and to think I used to tell my kids to trust these men implicitly....

Elder got df'ed
by XPeterX inhe had relationship with a female jw of the same congo.now that they are both df'ed they are gonna get married and then get reinstated.his ex-wife will have to see the new happy family 2 times every week at the meetings.sweet.

A couple I knew they were in their 50/60's - had been in the Org 35+ years - he was a long time elder, aux pioneers, lost some adult kids to disflwshping, financially very ok. She started struggling with her nerves and started drinking indoors. Next thing she's disfellowshipped. He takes off with a younger sister and then wife dies. Saddest thing was funeral that none of her JW family or friends went to. What an ending for her.

Did you ever have the Elders check out a prospective marriage mate 4U?
by Open mind inor, to your knowledge, did anyone ever make any inquiries of your local elders as to your "spiritual health" and suitability for courtship?.
how'd that work out for you?.

Possible reason JWs on this board Totally ignore what is presented here
by chrisjoel in(reposting this comment).
its because: they come on this board and see all kinds of xjws not all "speaking in agreement" and compare us with the organization and congregation, where they all "speak in agreement" and are all "unified", and all "fitly tied together in the same mind".
so, how can we have the truth if we are part of a free for all?

Question on Case of Disfellowshipped then Committed Suicide
by ruruj inthere was an occurrence years ago where a jw wrongdoer was disfellowshipped.
in a matter of days this poor victim committed suicide.. would there be any kind of accountability for the victim's suicide death?.
how frequent do these cases happen?.

In a town in the Lakes where my sister lives here in UK - a couple were disfellowshipped from the cong and they committed suicide together - jumped off a cliff if I remember correctly- about 5/6 yrs ago. Was a terrible testament to the WTBS locally- as it should be of course.

I have seen and known so many wonderful sisters - no, actually, hot blooded ladies - waste their lives waiting to be picked up by a sudden widower/divorced brother--- how terrible this is- can we really imagine a loving God would wish this on anyone? No we definitely cant - so dont lets anyone persuade us differently...
I was determined not to become one of these women and I married my wonderful atheist worldly hubby 8 months ago, I believe he's a gift and I wouldnt have missed this happiness for anything ......and to anyone in doubt -DONT you miss it either....
