i was shocked ( though i probably shouldn't have been ) when reading the new elders manual concerning whether elders have to confess up about former sins from a few years earlier.

notice this on pg.

38 , paragraph 19 : it states, " if it comes to light or an appointed brother confesses that he has committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past : the body of elders may determine he can continue to serve if the following is true : the immorality or other serious wrongdoing occured more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he should have come forward immediately when he sinned.

Ah yes.......the infamous OCTOBER 1972 QUESTION BOX in the KINGDOM MINISTRY

That is where that is lifted from. Almost NO elder....NONE.....even know of it......or they wouldn't deal with people the way they do. They would turn publishers way due to how 'long ago' there sin was........

I used this ONE reference a million times..........with other elders.........they would be astonished........they knew NOTHING about it. And it was highlighted at KM School and in a BOE letter. I know.....I taught it.

No double standard, right? These same guys would then DF someone for fornication from the 1980's.........it is one of the single most disturbing references that moved me to the door..........

7 the one source of spiritual instruction first-century christians enjoyed unity because they all received encouragement from the same source.

Marital Due and the KS

i just did a 'quick' search and 'marital due' doesn't appear to have made the 'list' of issues addressed in the ks!.

did i miss something?????

shouldn't the blantant repeated refusal (not justifiable under illness, ability, or discernable reason) be an issue addressed?.

2 Corinthians 7 is one of the most widely ignored chapters by JW's..........'sisters' can just stop having sex with their husbands without any recourse......no one will touch it with a ten foot pole.

Then they wonder why the other party cheats or gets involved in porn. Then the sister shows up at meetings crying and everyone feels sorry for her. Meanwhile, very few publishers know that the guy have been in a sexless marriage for many years.

Oh well........its all Bible Ala Carte.....choose what we want, ignore what we don't. In my opinion, the JW's biggest sin by far....

When a person gets disfellowshipped, why do the elders say no longer one of JW's.

And as a former elder it immediately made me laugh my ass off. A typical judicial committee goes something like this:

"Have you stopped doing that bad, bad thing?"

Now if you are NO LONGER ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHAT YOU WERE DOING BEFORE YOU APPLIED FOR REINSTATEMENT???????? WHY CAN'T PEOPLE TREAT YOU AS THEY DO EVERY OTHER NON-JW........TALK TO THEM, WORK WITH THEM, ETC.??????

They completely shot themselves in the foot.
