What's Your Status? Are You Technically Still A JW?...
by minimus inare you disfellowshipped, disassociated, active, inactive???
?.

Minimus,
Not quite that bad.....but lets say I have a reputation for having a hot temper....and I'm a gym rat. Before I was a "chosen one" elder......I was the stereotypical teenager/young adult that went to jail for beating the s**t out of a few people..... that gave them the right to compare me to Saul and talk about how much I'd changed and become such a spiritual giant.
After I left ... those stories started flooding in again... frankly, it is a 'weakness'...... or is it? I've had several publishers tell me that when my name comes up..... those wonderful elders I used to serve with all scatter.... one brother told me they are terrified.
I love it. They leave me alone.

I simply walked away after being an elder for 11 years.
I've been told by several still active JWs that they are scared sh**less of me....that my name comes up and they turn white.
LOL.....they all know me well enough to not come looking.....I'll 'deal' with them..

"_____ Is No Longer One Of Jehovah's Witnesses."
by BroMac inim not exactly sure when this change came in, but when i was a kid i remember it either being.
"____ has been disfellowshipped or dissasociated".
if someone has been announced to the congregation as no longer a jw then they are the same as any other non-jw.

More people who get DF'd should show up to the meeting during the announcement, ....stand up.....and let the congregation have it.
Ala Charleston Heston.......Soilent Green style.
There is nothing they can do.....they can ask you to leave, but the damage would be done....the entire congregation heard it.
I think elders that are removed should do this immediately. Imagine the impact of a long time elder standing and saying "I'm removed, but Bro. XYZ there on stage is addicted to porn and gets drunk on weekends"
If nothing else, it would get a small handful of people to think

One scripture in 45 minutes
by WinstonSmith infurther evidence that the wts values it's own publications above the bible.
in the last 45 minutes of our meeting, there was only one scripture used.
from the end of the number three talk through to the final song - one single solitary scripture.. the number three talk finished.

^^^ What Momma said is so true.
The Bible is dangerous.
2 Timothy 3:16, 17 is just a suggestion......its not absolute like the 144,000. God did a less than stellar job......which is why he created the GB to make books and explain it all better than he could.

Someone sent it to me last night.
Disgusting.
Funny how the Internet is now used for preaching and PIXAR like animation is now used for kids.
Weren't all of these things 'warnings' just a few years ago?

Downloadable leaflet "Highlights From The Finished Mystery"
by cedars ini've just finished my fourth and final "under the microscope" series of articles in which (hopefully) i've debunked many of the arguments often put forward by those claiming that jehovah's witnesses must be god's sole channel of communication with mankind.. this latest article focusses mostly on "the finished mystery" and the many errors contained therein that prove it couldn't possibly have been approved by christ when he was ostenisbly selecting the bible students as his chosen earthly representatives in 1919. i would like to thank and acknowledge alfred as being a huge help in compiling a list of key "highlights" of the book that serve to expose it for what it really is - a total work of fiction and absurdity.. shortly before alfred left this forum, we discussed the possibility of using his list to produce a special leaflet that people could print out themselves and insert in their "revelation climax" books, or "revelation climax" books belonging to family members.
i'm delighted to announce (with my best sunday afternoon convention speaker voice!
) that this leaflet is now ready, and available for download on the links below:.

My mother ignored the elders and I was a football star for many years. Then I grew up to become an elder.
I tried to keep my only son out of sports, but we divorced and his mother let him have a normal life.....I am so indebted to her for that.....
Then I started studying hard.....realized I was in a cult. Now it all makes me physically ill too.........heartbreaking.

Any more fond (not so) DC memories?
by outsmartthesystem inmy oldest child was barely 4 months old and not an easy baby.
she cried all the time....and getting her to sleep during the day was a pain.....especially in a facility that was 80 degrees with a/c.
on sunday afternoon of the dc....knowing we had a two hour drive home (she also didn't sleep in the car well).....i went to an "off limits" area with her.

Yes. My favorite memory after attending every District Convention, speaking at them, working in administration, etc since 1969.....was my very last one.........when I walked out, looked back and said out loud..."never again"
I'd have to say the 2008 convention. It was the first one in a long time I was nothing but a lowly publisher.......I got to sit in the audience. What an eye opener.

Proficient Jehovah Witness Apologist Per Kingdom Hall, How Many?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inon average, how many highly trained bible students would you estimate existed in your kingdom hall?
to define this further, i am thinking of men or women who studied more than watchtower literature, spent time in libraries to dig deeper than most shallow minded drones.. how can someone be a baptized jw for forty five years and be stupid regarding "the trintiy, hell fire, first century culture, church father's teachings, rapture, heaven, reasons for defending the reliability of bible texts."?
could the watering down, diluted teachings be the problem with "new-gen's" impotent bible understanding or lack of understanding?.

You're right Londo........I was FOREVER stunned at how no one.....including my own family, had ever read the Bible.
I served with 40 different elders............2 of them had read the Bible.
Now imagine you hand your kid over to a surgeon who hasn't read a medical text..............yeah, but they claim spirituality is more important. Never mind that the chief surgeons have never read the book.
Its so absurd its surreal.
