We have all read the most important books by Ray Franz and half a dozen of the other great books by various authors.....but does anyone know if there is a comprehensive book anywhere on how to escape the cult?

Faith In Action DVD... A tribute to Freemasons
by Alfred invery few people actually know this but the watchtower dvd faith in action is actually a tribute to freemasonry.
this dvd presents illustrations of several famous freemasons such as john coustos (a portuguese grand master from lisbon circa 1740).
the dvd actually presents two illustrations of coustos being tortured by the clergy while the anonymous narrator denounces historic abuse from the clergy.

I don't think the connectin to Freemasons is a moot point......I think its worth looking at. In the very least, they stole a great deal of their 'culture' from freemasonry......right down to calling each other "brothers" and "Jehovah"......its all connected to Freemasonry .......
Are they still involved? What lever were they involved? I don't know the answers......but they most certainly 'dabbled' in it at one point.....
Considering a JW child can't be involved in student council......I'd say their connection to Freemasonry will always deserve to be called out.....

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

Me.
And I'm seething with resentment over it.
At 45 (child of the 80's)........our company just restructred and let some of us go with a severence. Here I go again.......the "no degree" conversation

I'm never going to understand this.
You don't owe them anything. Tell them you're 'down' and that you need some time alone.
A couple of weeks later......and they will all have forgotten you....sure, you might get a call or text in a month or better....just don't answer.
YOU'RE IN CONTROL!!

Locked out of Eden
by edmond dantes inwhy did jehovah have to protect the enterence to eden with a flaming sword after kicking adam and eve out when all one had to do to get back in was to hop over the fence further up the road?.
one of the bible's mysteries..

Its holds about as much weight as the "doctrine" of Universal Sovereignty .......you know...the one where God sits back and watches women raped, people struggle with handicaps, elementary schools shot up, war crimes, child abuse, famine, humans ravaged by cancer.......over and over and over and over and over and..........for thousands of years.
All because some jackwagon bully mocked him. You know...the one he created perfectly that somehow developed envy? Instead of wiping him out and saving thousands of years of unexplainable pain.......he's allowing it down to this moment...........because His 'name' is more important than keeping his children from harm.
Eden??? EDEN??

Newbies: Any Feedback on the "New Light" Regarding GB?
by daringhart13 inthe newbies are pooring in....... curious.......can any of you new folks confirm the sentiment of the publishers regarding the new light that the governing body is the faithful and discreet slave?
has anyone even noticed??
what's the word on the street?.

This line alone is so fantastic.....so wrought with insanity, ....and yet, years of brainwashing, not one of them will notice that an "absolute fact" has been stated with ZERO support or proof:
"Jesus was referring, not to an individual, but to a composite "slave"--- a group working together as one body"
He was? Did anyone ask him? Did he call someone on earth and tell them this?
A crazy...CRAZY proof of how powerful a cult can be.....

Were you popular in your congregation or district?
by Emery innot to start some form of popularity contests here but i was wondering how popular some people were?
how far did your network go in this organization?
this question also pertains to those who are actively fading..

Yes.
Oldest child to a dirt poor, single mother. Came up through the ranks to be appointed elder at 27. Sought after speaker; including KM School, District, Circuit.
Let me be clear.......I never felt like anything more than an underdog that went 'bigtime' so I could fight for the other underdogs. As a child my family was ignored, my mother told that her kids wouldn't amount to anything, left, forgotten, never invited anywhere. When I "achieved' popular status......my goal was to represent the 'underdog' in every congregation. This makes you popular with all cliques.........
I walked away from all of it.......and have never been happier. I continue to be approached in public by JW's that didn't know I left.....I get the big, warm welcome...a hug......then I look at them and say "You do know I left the cult?".........
..........the shock.....and sometimes tears they cry.........is priceless.
I'm now just a VERY happy worldly guy like everyone else!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!

Jeremiah book this week - cult control at it's finest
by 88JM inhaving to sit through this at the meeting just now.. blatantly saying to obey without question: "will you be as determined to comply with god's guidance as jeremiah was?
", "...accepting the guidance given through the faithful slave class is for your lasting good.".
this is so painful to sit through :(.

My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 9:4,5. One of the last times I went in service was with my fellow elder and "friend".....at that time, the PO.
I made him pull out his Bible and read this scripture after he spent the entire morning complaining that he was being overlooked for assembly talks.
He read it out loud.
I said "guess who I apply this too?"
