i was 13yo and largely clueless to what was going on.
i think i remember hearing something about an apostate being weeded out of bethel but really couldn't have cared less.
i didn't start getting zealous until a couple of years later.. .
I was 13. Its a very, very vague memory.... I don't remember anyone talking about it. At that age, I was just starting to understand the nuts and bolts of the religion.
5 years later, no one was talking about it. Not even the older brothers that mentored me......
JW's have an almost bizarre way of sweeping HUGE stories under the rug.....from Franz, to 1975, to Candice Conti....most of them know NOTHING about any of those subjects.
guy pierce was born into a large mormon family.
his mother and father were jack mormons, sympathetic to the mormon faith but not ved/ active.
afterworld war ll, his parents moved from utah to california, where guy was born on november 6, l934.when he was eight years old, his grandmother wanted three of her grandchildren to be baptized in the mormon church.
I knew Guy personally. I hadn't heard this news yet....
we received an email and are wondering if anyone can verify this little tidbit of news.
does anyone know if this is true or not?.
maybe any elder's on here?.
Wow......being an elder is such a 'privilege'
....and don't forget, they are all appointed by Holy Spirit.
So........while God wants them to serve....his organization wants them to act on their own.
Makes sense, right?
i blew up and dumped my girlfriend on monday over a silly little thing.
it's been happening in pretty much every relationship i get involved in.
it never happened before my marriage.. during my marriage, i was alone almost all the time.
just felt like a laugh.. if any funny quotes come to mind feel free to post them here.
There are just so many...LOVE THIS THREAD
Anything from the Golden Age.....I've always loved the "go kill yourself instead of a tonsilectomy" comment.......
Oh.....and all the cures for cancer were classics.
i am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.
Welcome Lily.....it's so encouraging to see people doing research on such important matters. Great references listed above by some of the posters.
i note that they're making reference to this in the upcoming convention programme.
someone has has dropped a bollock here, have they not?.
i mean, if i were a jw, i'd be sitting thinking of all the promises made and broken.
Are they highlighting it? Do you have any references/links?
That is unbelievable
.
we asked this person if it could be aqbout the terminology change and they said that was already read last week...... we remember the last time they did this.
got everyone all excited thinking the big "a" was coming and all it was about, was the literature would now be donated instead of charging for it.. .
Cheese Danishes are back?!?!?!?!
i remember reading a thread when my exit was starting, about inspirational songs.
someone posted a link to the "shins" for a fool.
this was a surprising help to me.
