One fact I like to point out is that from a demographic standpoint, the decline in the number of publishers in Japan makes sense since the country is going through a massive population decline of its own. It's been reported that the overall population will fall under 100 million in 30-40 years.

FYI, I believe a "bible study" with a child of a JW can only be counted once. However, the instruction that was given recently was that both parents can count the time and return visit.
I could be wrong though, so feel free to correct me.

Confidential Materials!
by Atlantis inall documents of important nature such as, our kingdom ministry, boe letters, forms, or other materials will now be sent only by email or private message communications.
they will not be posted out here on the board.
if someone else wants to post them, be my guest.. .. we have no other choice in this matter, and sending out confidential documents is better when it is done privately.

This is secondhand so take it for what it's worth.
A friend of mine went to a circuit assembly this past weekend. My friend told me they were talking to the district overseer's wife and she was tallking about the Annual Meeting they'll be going to soon. She then added that there was a big change coming up but she wasn't allowed to say anything. My friend then called her a tease!
So it does sound like something will be announced soon.

by traveb indidn't see this posted already so i thought i would start a new topic.

the way i read it is everything to do with ivf is a conscience matter unless it involves a 3rd party then it's considered porneia.

There's also another QFR about illegal immigrants and whether they can sign a "marriage pledge" rather then getting a legal marriage. Short answer, no.
Discuss.

Just to give some background information, Brother G.A. who gave the District Convention baptism talk is a long-time pioneer elder. He also serves as a substitute circuit overseer, and has even visited a congregation I used to attend as a sub CO. I don't know him personally.
I also heard of a special talk given to the North Fremont congregation on a Saturday a few weekends ago by a WT attorney regarding the Conti case. I don't know the content of the meeting but hopefully will find out more.

How are the statistics exaggerated or made up? I thought it was established that the WTS only counts active publishers while these secular surveys (like the Pew forms ones) count everyone who is associated with JW's.

For any active JW's who regularly donate reading these case documents should chill them to the bone. I haven't dropped cash into a box in a long time now but one of my biggest regrets is all the money I've donated in the past when I was still a true believer. The WTS comes across as just so arrogant, almost spiteful really. It's like they can't believe someone would have the audacity to sue them and actually WIN. In their minds it cannot possibly be their fault, it has to be the elders/parents/prejudiced jury. It's really sickening.
On a more positive note, if I'm ever involved in a civil case I want Richard Simons on my side!
