WELCOME AUNTIE M!!!!!
Hope to hear lots and lots from you gurl friend!
Para ti..
on tonight's evening news was a story about jw's from the southeast coming to a town in georgia to build a house for a needy jehovah's witness.
seems that this is recently formed program.
it's a type of quick-build, kind of along the lines of the kingdom hall builds.
Dont be sorry Auntie!
I was once told that it was ok to take from the worldly charity because The Israelites received from The Egyptians. Totally shrugging off their responsibilities as Christians.
Of course there were rules in even the taking of Charities. You could not donate to charity, Religious or otherwise.
If meeting attendance to Christendom was a requirement then you could not receive the charity.
I wont go into this anymore as I have RANTED on this subject before OVER and OVER and OVER again.
If you want to read my rants you can click on my name in the members section.
Still I am sure youd prefer to ponder on HAPPY Thoughts.
WELCOME AUNTIE!!!!
Here you will find A LOT of Moms who were in situations such as yours In The Truth.
It seems Brotherly Love WATCHTOWER (tm) style abounds.
I am blessed in that some in The Org have tried to help but most of them were as needy as me. So needy in fact they still talk to me although I am dissed! Us single moms have to stick together even if all we can give is a listening ear to the next rant.
Hope to be reading many more of your posts!

my theory
maybe the org was right with all of their predictions about the timeline of 607bc 1914?
except for the small difference, the time that jesus spent on the earth was exempt from the calculations?

i just returned from some nice r@r in cancun mexico.
while i was their i had some time to go downtown to their municipal offices, and confront one of their officials face to face on whether the jehovahs witnesses were ever banned in their country.having read crisis of concsience , i have always been interested in finding out the truth of this matter for myself.
whether they were actually under a ban, or was it the watchtowers way of holding on to their real estate.
Hey Pretty Plum,
I can see that on this topic it may be hard to out and out prove that it was a WTBS ban and not a Mexican Government ban.
Although, once again Id have to say bible should prevail and every Christian in any Religion knows about Daniel and how he was thrown into the lions den for public praying. On top of as JWs we went over and over and over Daniels 3 friends not bowing to an idol set up by government. Why would any Christian bow to Government their right of free worship? For The WTBS all things are for their furtherance and gain not Gods.
AlenF brought out this scripture a few days ago, Are you defending God by means of lies and dishonest arguments? You should be impartial witnesses, but will you slant your testimony in his favor? Will you argue Gods case for him? Be careful that he doesnt find out what you are doing! Or do you think you can fool him as easily as you fool people? No, you will be in serious trouble with him if even in your hearts you slant your testimony in his favor. Doesnt his majesty strike terror into your heart? Does not your fear of him seize you? Your statements have about as much value as ashes. Your defense is as fragile as a clay pot. (Job 13:7-12; New Living Translation)
I think this scripture could apply in this case as they were trying to dishonestly present themselves as something they were not in order to worship God. Ether they were a Religion representing the True God or they were a social club. They can only be one and be exceptable to God. To lie or dissemble is not an option for those claiming to Worship in Honesty and Truth.
These are things JWs I feel would think about if all the facts could be presented in away to OPEN their free thinking abilities and BREAK The WTBS locks and chains.
As you say a person has to forget their own opinions and read things objectively. People like you teach me everyday.
This is something I have been learning on this forum. One of the Kudos of coming here.
LisaBObeesa....Ty for bringing out the main subject and reminding us all what your talking about.

this is a true story.. this fellow i heard about, he's been sending out letters about the gb, saying things like "those guys may seem important whatever they are makes no difference to me," and "they said you can't take blood transfusions, but mature christians know better.
" this fellow had a major and messy public argument with a heavy player from brooklyn, and told him to take a hike.
why, one time this fellow went to the kh that ted jaracz attends, stood right up there in the middle of the congregation, and publicly accused tj of being a hypocrite!.
Ahhhh, see Craig! Thats what I thought you meant all along.....yeah......right.thats the ticket.

wedding vows .
til death do us part
(note: although i speak about women here this can easily be reversed) .
Dear Lady Lee,
Did you know how you would touch me with this post?
I read your words and cried and cried.
I lasted in an abusive marriage for 12 years because I did not want to betray Jehovah.
Some of the time it was WT Dogma on marriage that kept me there as before I was a JW I wouldnt have put up with so much violence and neglect.
As a JW wife you have the extra burden that you could save your spouses eternal life. Before the provision of being able to divorce without remarriage you were to stay married or be disciplined.
Many would council me on how brother so and sos wife beat him and he stayed and now she is a JW and saved for eternity. Another story I was given was of a sister whos unbelieving mate would put her and the children to sleep in the garage every night. This went on for 30 years and then one day he came into The Truth and how happy she was he was saved.
There was an extra pressure in The Truth to remain in an abusive marriage. If I divorced I could be killing my husband. Plus, I would bring reproach on Jehovahs Name!
I spent many days, weeks, months, and years crying. Always praying and calling out to Jehovah God.
I will be honest. If my husband had become a JW and turned into a loving caring father and husband to the children and me it would have been worth all the suffering. To save my family is worth any pain.
But, this man never loved me as your post brought out. He broke our vows.
Do you know even 5 plus years later I have felt guilty for divorce?
You wrote, But no one seems to realize that the abusive husband has already broken the vows. Through the abuse he has shown he has no love for his wife. He does not honor her when he hits her. Her does not cherish her when he screams and yells in her face. Or calls her names. He does not care for her when he controls her or uses her as a servant. He does not need to commit adultery to break the marriage vows.
What I have learned are most men who behave this way ALREADY committed adultery but do not want to admit it. For some odd reason even though they have done such atrocities to their families they dont want to admit adultery as that would make them a bad guy.
In the case of my ex he said if he told me Id leave. I guess the whole world knew about him and his women. I was such a good co-dependant.
It is not that long since I have been out of The Org. So feeling guilty of divorce is an on going battle.
Thank you so much for your post sweet Lady Lee

Even if it is for the widow orphan types I wonder what the interest on the mortgage is?
Habitat For Humanity gives you a mortgage you know.
For The WTBS this is probly another way to invest and make money.
Also, if Religions do get taxed one day, remember The WTBS has no real Charities.
They need to set some up to hide money and avoid taxes.
As a single mother in "The Truth" I never received such help and neither have any of my friends who are single moms.
I hope they do have some kind of new program as then my friends still inside will finally have homes! Even if they are at the lowest comparable interest rates.
Someone find more info on this. I would really love to find out! I know a homeless single mom inside "The Org"
ty for this post,
