  RR 1st I want to thank you for answering all my questions. You are a very kind man and mild manored.

  Now.....lol, I answer you....

  "I didn't know the Great Pyramid was an idol. Do you have any information to that effect? That that was its original purpose to be worshipped?"

  Maybe The Pyramids were not the whole Idol....but they were made for thier religion....a religion that had nothing to do with Jehovah God.

  You see RR Pyramids may not have been the entire idol but were a part of worshiping thier Pharaoh who was considered a GOD. What would this have to do with The True God? Why would he even allow this to have anything to do with Him? Why confuse us imperfect humans with more puzzels?

  If one were to become a bible student....would they be subject to sometimes listen do speaches about The Pyramid and it's connection to God.....like say at a convention?

  As always our Focus puts perspective on the subject...." That its construction must have involved the back-breaking labor, torture or death of thousands of hapless slaves?"

  Who likes winter?

  well, today is the first day of winter.

  winter here in canada is cold and long.

  we have about 4 to 5 months of damn snow every year.

  I love love how pretty winter is.....BUT cold I hate!!

  I look like a dork every winter....hat's 2 gloves each hand....big furry boots....sweater after sweater ....wool coat....scarve....sometimes even a ski mask

  My dad on the other hand is very funny!! He LOVES the winter!! He wishes he could go live in The Great White North!!! Has made plans for that ever since I was a child!!

  What makes my dad funny is that he is mexican and was born where it is HOT HOT HOT!!

  The story is when he came up north and saw his 1st Snow Fall he fell in love with the icy lace and was running about and playing in it with out even a coat!!

  To this day in the winter he goes out without a coat or boots.......has even walked out bare foot to get the paper in the snow!

  I always joke with him and say..."What kind of mexican are you falling in love with the winter?"

  You would never guess this is the man who was born in very hot weather in the middle of a cotton field his mother was working in.

  He is like a child every winter...building Snowmen....taking my kids sledding.....and when he was a young man he was an excellant skier!

  Who knows maybe one day he will move to Alaska or Canada....never know.

  Am I oversimplifying?

  i'm fairly new here but regularly i read posts that recognize the significant lack of love among jw's.

  would i be speaking too simply to say that since god is love... they just haven't truly accepted him into their hearts rendering them incapable of exibiting pure christian love in their lives?.

  love isn't something we do for him, it's something he does through us.

  I don't think you are over simplifying at all.

  What has happened is MANY JW's have The WTBS in thier hearts....not Jehovah or Jesus. So it makes for very cold friends....and not TRUE spiritual family.

  Jesus who had the right to tennis courts and luxury 5 star hotel stays did not have a place to lay his head. Still this being the case he collected money for the poor. To make thier life more comfortable....not His.

  Now I do know some JW's who go for Jehovah and The Christ and without them some of us would have never lasted so long as JW's.

  There was a Brother my children and I would not have ever eaten if not for him. An elderly pioneer couple made most of my service possible. Even now dissed there is a Sister who if I needed her would even let me move in with her! Very Christ like...still and all she is not afraid because she owns about every bound volume avaliable and can take you to an articel of a paragraph in any of them to show why she feels what she does is correct. Having this knowledge she has made her not afraid of the elders.

  Still this shows lack of love in the JW Org.The Sister I speak of...the reason she studied so hard is because years ago...long b4 scandels....she was dissed without a hearing. She was having problems....2 elders visited....reported to the other elders and they announced her removal!! She was never consulted. For awhile she wondered in the world and when the day came she decided to return she swore no one would ever put her in that position again! So now SHE tells the elders how it is....not them her!

  The JW Religion is one of the coldest and most FAITH breaking Religion out there! When I walked into the Sister's home who I have been speaking of her walls are cover with bound volumes and other publication dating back to who knows when!! I get the chills just walking in as it so reminds me of the Pharisees of Jesus days. What everyday person who works....takes care of a family.....household responsibilitys.....preparing for meetings on current lessons.....preparing for service at least once a week if not 3 or 4 times.....what person could keep up with all this just to DEFEND themselves in thier FAITH against the shepards of the flock?!?!?! How cold and Un-LOVING in deed.

  You know the Pharisees were not acused of pagen influance in thier worship.....they were acused of having twisted the scriptures. They had no love. The one thing that GOD is....GOD IS LOVE.

  Jesus represented His Father perfectly......and thus He ate and Drank with tax collectors and ladies of unfortunate employment. He did not tell them they were correct in thier life style BUT He did love them and share Good News with them about His Father.

  All a person needs is a bible,thier Heavenly Father.....Our Savior Christ Jesus.... Jah's Holy Ghost....and LOVE. No one should need the knowlegde of a Hundred Books from Men (who can't be sure if the light is bright enough or not ) to defend themselves from Shepards of the flock!

  Anyway...I am on a tangent now..... and I am baking snowman coookies....so no time for tangents

  Shari....just saw your update.....hmmmm, maybe the whole idea of rehab is best.

  Arguing wouldn't be good....write that letter you were talking about.

  Make sure he can see how this breaks your heart and how much he means to you.

  AA sounds real good.....counceling.... the works.

  Sometimes familys take counceling together. Which makes it harder for the child to say no to it.

  (((((hugs))))) and you said you didn't trust your judgment!

  You are a HEROIC MOM!! All you endured for you son to be there for him ,love and care for him. Sweety I think you and your son will come through this.

  It is never too late for counceling......maybe even you and he could do this together.

  The idea of a letter is sublime. To be able to put all your hopes and fears on paper will help him meditate on what your saying. He'll probly save you letter the rest of his life

  You know thank-you for asking for advice.

  In just over a years time I will be the mother of an 18 year old.

  Although, I hope not to have the same problems....you have taught me a good way to handle any difficulties we come across.

  Lilacs....your not rambling your trying to figure this out.

  You have never been the Mom of an 18 year old boy and so you need advice.

  You sound like an open person and if your son and you can state your feelings for each other....you've done better then most parents!

  Even today alot of parents and children do not say "I Love You" So you and your son have something special.

  I think your son will even out......like you said you hardly ever drink and you have been his MAIN role model....so you are the person he will take after as an adult.

  My oldest is turning 17.......I can't even imagine 18 yet!! **YIKES**

  I think the tough love thing is ok as a last resort.

  Your still at the talking stage I think.

  Maybe have him do volunteer work at a rehab center...then he can see where the steps he's taking can lead him

  Maybe you don't trust your abilites but I think the kind of person who looks for advice has good instincts

  Well....if it were my son....I would have waited till morning hang over.....Let all the nice daylight in his room and play music he HATES real loud......and when he was like squinting going..."Ma...what's up?"

  I'd say nothing......but continue to be a real pain....letting him get NO sleeping in time and make nausiating food that makes him feel like puking!

  Warning his friends about calling the cops is a good thing though. That you did good.

  This guy didn't believe my parents would do it when he was suplying for my sister and my dad done did call! The guy ended up in jail over night....had to go to court.....face my dad and the judge....get's a record.....probation....etc.

  Funny thing is.....my sister NEVER saw this guy again....he made himself disapear....wonder why

  I know it's hard to not blow your top.....but arguing with a drunk kid who feels like a grownup is just not productive.

  If he joined the armed forces his ID would get him liquer in any bar on base and in most towns around the base......also overseas. Many move out and get apartments at 18....or even marry. I married at 18....not a smart move mind you....didn't last.....but it's legal.

  Most likely he is not going to be an alcoholic.

  He's just feels the freedom of his age.

  You sound like a good mom......trust the job you did

  it made an already unbearable task even worse.

  the top of the crap pile for me was trying to place a magazine entitled the salty drink that saves lives.

  Ok....I'm a dork and I know it

  I realy enjoyed service and I enjoyed placing mags.......BUT...........

  I HATED....HATED.....HATED.......Placing The Anti Householders RELIGION.......and the anti-householders holidays!!

  In December I never would place the ones about x-mas' I saved them for July....give them time to think and not cause a sting...or a feeling of worthlessness in the householders while they were having thier good time

  I was realy happy one year when I hooked up with a older pioneer sis who felt the same way! She even did the same as me and saved the x-mas mags for june or july.

  I thought I was the only one it bothered....to go to someones house.....who I don't know....and insult them on thier special days!

  Also, the mags would realy dig deep of the wrongs of other religions....even naming them off!

  I found that bad form and very rude! I thought why doesn't it just teach what the bible says and stick to what true christians should be doing....instead of slandering another persons belief system

  I figured people were smart enough to compare beliefs and say to themselves......something is wrong in my church....maybe I shouldn't be worshiping here.

  Wierd thing......alot of people here had those feelings at the KH....hmmmmm....makes one think
