  There is a Spanish proverbio that goes, De buen vino, buen vinagre Which simply means, From good wine, comes good vinegar.

  I think life is very much like good wine. Full , robust, a nice bouquet.there is laughter and joy. Good times and sharing. Still, there is the crying, the sadness and loneliness.

  Life like wine needs proper care or it becomes vinegar or sour to the taste.

  Wine is good for drinking with a meal but, vinegar on the other hand is only good for salads.

  Our friend refiners fire said, if you are in Oz and are in Melbourne email me .and get over here to the Apostofest BBQ on Saturday...At least you can tell someone who understands, what happened.

  If you can bring yourself to Yannis, e-mail our friend and go to this BBQ. If you have people in your life you can laugh with and cry,.. life becomes a delicious thirst,quenching wine for a hearty banquetnot so sour you wish to spit it out.

  Our czarofmischief gave corny but true advice, Hey, God loves you. It's a cliche, but the reason cliches become cliches is that they are the hammer and screwdriver in the toolboxes of communication.

  Could it be Yannis that refiners fires invitation to you is a gift from God ? To show you your needed and cared for? Maybe this is cliche but, I have always believed God has a hand in our lives. Refiners fire is a sensitive soul and even if he doesnt think so he could be a gift to you in friendship from Our Creator.

  On-line friends are very nice but, up close and personal ones can see the twinkle of your eye..the small smile in the corner of your mouth or even the tear your trying to hide and the frown behind your enormous grin.When needed they can hold your hand,give a hug, listen to sadness or laugh at your corny jokes. Most importantly true friends can even sit with you in silence when all you need is the sound of another human there with you, living and breathing.just seeing in person someone cares for you and wishes you in their life.

  If you can Yannis please go out and have a wonderful time with friends who have been right where youre at now.

  What could it hurt? I think it could only heal.

  Take care now dear friend and try to smile that amazing grin of yours.

  Thank-you Analysis ,

  I think part of my confusion is that as a JW I had to be so picky of everything.

  Was there a pagan symbol on this barrette,etc. I had to worry if I would stumble another with something simple even such as what genre of music I was listening to. Even if the words were pure the melody mellow. if it was done by a heavy metal band the Brother or Sister could be stumbled..or worse yet my neighbors! What would my neighbors think of Jehovahs People?? Oh, No!!

  Also, there is the invisible wall between me and all those I once had to considered Worldly, Bad Associations. It is difficult to connect even with family and feel that it is right.

  I know all the basic things of course.

  It is just a matter of deprogramming.

  My development as a human being has been stunted and this is difficult to change. Many things once thought Taboo are now ok.

  How disorienting this is. I know many have gone through this.

  Also, a part of me insists I must meet with others who Love God.

  Where to go and what to do of this is a Quest and a challenge because, all non-JW were once off limits.

  Thank-you though Analysis for giving me a bit of a boostI really need such things.

  There is a very definite atmosphere about Christmas at our place. It is a time of pleasure in simple things, yes, and in gift receiving.

  Perhaps I have been dragged, resultantly, into the practice of Christmas. Telling myself its a time of rank commercial exploitation. But when Christmas morning arrives, and the presents are piled under the tree. I always feel.. Grateful. I hope everyone opens their present and theyve got what they dreamed of!!

  Reading such a peaceful, happy, and self-satisfying entry as yours Refiner is like the present Ive always dreamed of.

  That there is can be some kind of happiness and normalcy after having ones True Freedom squashed and their life separated from truly serving God.

  Thank-you for this wonderful package this is a piece of your life.

  Thank-you dear sweet man for sharing with me.

  Have a Happy Season and may all your dreams come true.

  I have been thinking the same thing lately.

  It has occurred to me that since I have been to almost all mainstream Religions and this one chewed me up and spit me out. What to do now?

  It is so odd because, I find myself saying where do I go? Not because I think JW is true but, because I get confused as to what is right in Gods eyes.

  I have come to realize now that I am responsible before God to decide for myself. Not these men to decide for me!

  I was wondering where others have gone who still do not believe in The Trinity.

  Is there a place to go that does not attach itself to the teachings of one man and only uses The Bible.

  If a Christian is to meet with others as The Bible commands.Where does one go?

  I do not want to miss a beat in service to My Creator and His Son.

  You seem to have found an answer nightwarrior .what have you done? I am not saying I will do just as you have donejust needing some ideas here.

  New Years Celebration

  when you were an active witness, did you wait up to midnight before going to bed, just to see the celebrations of the new year?

  Hi JH,

  My parents are both realists and atheists.

  They very much worship science and intellectualism.

  When I was such a good JW and opened my big fat trap about all the pagan and primitive origins of the holidays they stopped putting such emphasis on them

  They didnt stop celebrating but my children being the ONLY Grandchildren anyway. They decided not to make the big deal.

  So even New Years was ruined for them. We just treat it like a normal day.

  Sometimes we stay up, but not for the Apple being dropped in Times Square.

  My dad and I do the same we do any day off,Watch a ton of sci-fi or action flicks together!! He loves old westerns,too. So the children and I amuse him.

  My being a JW really effected my WHOLE family, not just my nucleus.

  If they wished to be involved with me they had to change the way they lived THEIR lives.

  My parents LOVE their Grandkids and have bent over backwards to accommodate beliefs that are not even their own.

  Sometimes I am so ashamed.

  I spent 15 years being rigid and unbending in my beliefs and now that I am willing to compromise they cant seem too. Its like they became Honorary JWs. But that is another thread.

  The Government & Disfellowshipping

  from everything i've read here, the jist seems to be that if you're disfellowshipped, you have little chance of winning a lawsuit against the borg because the government still gives them the right to "shun" members if they see fit.. it occurred to me that perhaps we're ignoring a potential ray of light at the end of the tunnel.

  what if we tried to lobby the government into changing this, so that it would be illegal for any religion to shun former members?

  it's a long shot maybe, but if it could be shown (maybe on another program like dateline) of how unfair, cruel and inhumane it is to tell people they must shun family members or close friends simply because they don't think the same way as them, then maybe eventually, one day, a law would be passed forbidding shunning in any religion.. it's not just ex-witnesses that would support this: ex-mormons, ex-scientologists, ex-seventh day adventists etc.

  We understand that. I wasn't born a JW but I was born into Atheist family.

  Science alone rules here and let me tell you worshipers of The Scientific Theories Class can be quit smug themselves and condescending. I believe in science and The Creator going hand in hand but often that is not enough.

  Still, in my case I can enjoy (Or suffer through) a long debate about if there is a God or not. In the case of a JW child choosing to not be JW.....well as you painfully know.

  If Governments sanction Religion though, where else will they put their grubby little hands? What else will they decide for the family?

  I know of families ruined by government intervention. The Government can often be just as bad as a cult and their leaders even in small office as criminal as the worst of dictators.

  Only hope for children now is if adults who were once the hindered child stand up and educate the families not already indoctrinated.

  I have already told people some of what I learned. You can do this too Mary.

  I am sorry for all you have been through, but wonderful woman like you are who children will need to survive the next wave of unwanted indoctrination.
