i know some who go to meetings because they feel they have to because of family or other considerations.. imagine going to a meeting and having your iphone with you!.
how would it look if you had a watchtower in your hands along with a tv guide?.
think about going to a meeting with strong booze breath.. any other suggestions?
I'd bring crayons and coloring books for my group. mp3 players for the kids, they don't need to hear, and aren't interested anyway. Bottles of water for each of us. Gum and candy incase they get wiggly, and breaks outside when they need to walk around a bit.

Wow. thanks for sharing. I wish your husband had gone into the elders meeting with you. I wonder if they would have let him stay, or make you both leave.
It sounds like you picked a winner husband. I'm glad you deserve it. He sounds very much like my husband, doesn't care for the religion, but would never try and tell me what I needed to do. If he had been disagreeable, I might have gone back full force.
My parents had been shunning me for years before I got married. They still do, and didn't come to my wedding and have never met my grandchildren.
I hope you can continue to keep a relationship with your parents. It might get sticky again when/if you have children.

she was about 13 or 14 when i first started having serious doubts about the wts.
when i informed her of my doubts a couple years later, she took the information and ran with it.... she never looked back.
i told her she could be whatever she wanted to be if she only worked hard enough.

What did your husband think about the elders questioning you? How does he feel when you explain your upbringing? Do you have a relationship with your parents now?

i was inspired by a few different things people said.. one dealt with if you pray(ed) regularly with your husband/wife.
a few people described how awkward they felt in doing it.
i felt like that for the longest time!
I hated it all. Hated it! Not only that, but I knew Jehovah could read my thoughts, mind, heart so I wasn't foolin' him. I had to continue to do it (jw crap), and pretend to enjoy it, just to keep peace with my parents. Hated it!!!

just thought i should share a bit of my story with you all, i'm on this board everyday and can't stop reading.
i was raised as a witness by my mother and grandmother, dad and gramps weren't witnesses.
i was baptized at 15, i believed it was the truth but was still pushed into baptism by my mom, she thought it reflected negativly on her as a mother that i wasn't dipped yet.

1 "i could not have found any other work that could have brought me as much contentment or could have been so spiritually rewarding.
After my freshman year of high school, I vacation pionered...I did it to fit in and be like the others. I hated it. I got all my hours plus some.
The next summer, I applied and was turned down. It had never had occurred to me that I could volunteer to Jehovah and be turned down. I felt okay with it though. Kinda like when I raised my hand and wasn't' called on. I knew the answer, that's all that mattered.
