If her condo is upside down and you/she have exhausted all options to save it. Have her stop making payments and start saving that money towards a place to move too. Also, if you have extra money just laying around and you think that it will help her and ease your guilt, send it to her.

Head coverings yet again in the latest KM
by life is to short inmy husband just gave me the latest km the novermber 2013 and it yet again has a question box on head coverings.. question box "should a female publisher wear a head covering if she is accompanied by a male pubisher at a doorstep bible study?".
it says "when a female publisher conducts a reagular, scheduled bible study and a male kingdom publisher is present, she should wear a head covering.
(1 cor 11: 3-10) the july 15 2002, issue of the watchtower page 27, explains: "this is a prearranged session of teaching where the one conducting the the study actually presides.

I laughed out loud with the "wig" thing. That would be such a great comedy skit.

I have been out for more than 25yrs. I will be 52 next week. We just celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary. My children are grown and I see them and my grandchildren almost daily.
I have a group of friends that I call my FOC (family of choice) These are all people that I met here on this board when I first came and our friendship has continued to grow. We have stayed in touch on a daiy basis online over the years. Some of us have had the chance to meet in real life.
This board is the first place I found when we got our first computer. Before that all my research was at the library. I felt free, like a weight had been lifted. I met Simon and his wife and their boys in Florida at an apostafest. I have been to many apostafests over the years and have always had an amazing time.
It still took a few years to sort everything out in my head.
I am the happiest I have ever been in my life. Sometimes it scares me that I'll wake up and it won't be real.
My parents and sibilings continue to shun me. I used to call in the first few years every 6 months or so. There has been no contact of any kind in the last 10+ yrs. It is what it is. I will continue to warn people of the dangers of the Watchtower. If I save one family than I have prevented some unnecessary heartache. -

I'm glad you are free and you have your children. Get your 11yr old involved with activities so he will make new friends.
I recently shared this in another group: I've been out 25+ yrs.
"Today I thought of something that made me sad. When I was trying to be reinstated, I came for every meeting. Waiting until just as the song started and came in quietly, to take my seat in the back. As soon as the final prayer, I immediately left. I did this for a year. No one spoke to me. My sister told me I was supposed to write a letter. What? I had no idea.
But I did. Couple months later we met for the jc meeting. I was denied reinstatement. One elder pulled me aside later and told me to appeal. I had no idea.
Anyway I did, elders I'd never met before came in. I wish I knew what was going on, but they were not agreeing with each other. I spent a lot of time waiting not just at this jc, but for another several weeks. I was finally reinstated. I would love to see the notes on my jc meetings. Mostly during this time I was highly medicated on valium or xynax because of my intense fear that Armageddon was going to come and the stupid ark door would be slammed with me on the outside..... so most of that time period seems foggy.
But what makes me sad. Is all that time I wasted. Not one single person from that time of my life is in my life now, except for my children. I could have done something that could have would have benefited me and my children. Like a real job, not one that works around meeting times. Going to college and getting a real education." -

The following is a fb message I got yesterday from a "TRUE" friend.
Little back ground. I knew this person 20+ yrs ago. We recently reconnected on fb.Years ago, Scott asked me about my parents and I told him the truth. He didn't believe me. I said call them. He did.
all these years later he still remembers. He is the kind of person that would being this up at the door if they called on him. He would also tell anyone that mentioned being one or studying with one.
My non-JW aunt posted a picture of herself and my JW dad. (he's been shunning me 25+ yrs)8:11pm Scott S serious he does look good for 80s 8:12pm Lisa L Osborne yea, too bad he's brainwashed and won't speak to me. 8:13pm Scott S i know. damn fuckin shame do you remember when i called him said he didnt have a daughter named lisa. really pissed me off.

Letter to BOE re: baptism of my minor children
by Michelle365 inok i posted about a month ago asking for advice on writing a letter to my former congregation regarding my children.
my ex husband still goes to our old hall and although we have joint custody he is raising them to be good little jws on his time.
i understand that in your organization age is not a determining factor in whether or not a person can get baptized, however as the young people ask book points out:

Michelle I want to share two personal experiences to give you a different perspective. First one, When my son was born, 1984 his grandparents on dads side were Catholic. They wanted him baptized in their Catholic Church. I refused and was freaking out, you know all the demons and whatnot in churchs. The grandparents made one attempt to kidnap him, another time the grandfather came over with a jar of 'holy water' and sprinkled him with it when I walked out of the room and hung a rosary on the edge of his crib. OMG, can you imagine??? Now, I know it would have made them feel better and gave them happiness. In real life it would have meant nothing to my infant son . I was only freaked out and thought I was being persecuted because the Watchtower said so. My son is grown now, the grandfather is dead, and the grandmother and dad are not in the picture. I still have my son, well, he's not here, in his own home a few miles from here. Second, this happened in the early 90's. My daughter went to visit her grandmother on her dad side for a month when she was 13. When she came home she told me she had gotten baptized in their baptist church. I'm horrified. Should I go to the elders? Do I just pray? Why did you do that? Why Why?? She said, "because they were going to throw me a party afterwards." It was never mentioned again. She is now 33, married, atheist with three children. Her grandmother is dead and her grandfather and dad are not in the picture. I still have a daughter, she's not here. She lives with her family, a few miles from her, next door to her brother. I could not be happier with how things turned out. Good luck and much love to you and your daughters.
