That bird comment might ruffle a few feathers. It looks like the GB is just wing'n it.

YOU WILL NEVER SEE THESE ACTS EVER MENTIONED IN A WATCHTOWER PUBLICATION
by steve2 infaking of hours in field service or dragging service time out by making coffee stops or driving for hours "between" household contacts are never frowned upon, let alone mentioned, in the publications.
.
yet, in each congregation of jehovah's witnesses, to one degree or another, faking hours, padding time out with coffee stops and long journeys between opportunities to "witness" are endemic practices..

first T-day dinner this year
by Hortensia ini live in a seniors-only apartment complex.
management has a tendency to patronize us, which is interesting and rather entertaining.
today we had our annual t-day dinner for the seniors, catered by a local church.

I work for an attorney that is the guardian of many elderly people that can no longer handle their finances and/or take care of themselves without help and don't have family that can or will help. Sometimes that's how he becomes their guardian is because the people in their lives are taking advantage of them and someone reports them and he is court appointed as their guardian.
Some of these Wards live in assisted living or senior communities and will call me though out the day just to chat because they have no one in their lives to talk to. It might be about a piece of mail they got or something they saw on TV.
Get togethers like you went to give them something to do and talk about. I think most of the time the dinners are from donations and just out of kindness.
I'm glad you went, and I enjoyed your story thank you for sharing. Pictures would have been fun. -

First Post - Introduction
by Syme inthis is my first post on jwn, and i would like to take a few lines to introduce myself.. i currently am still in the organization, though my conviction in the last 1-2 years is more or less agnostic/atheist (closer to atheist).
i am an ex-elder and mts graduate, having served in another 3 congregations, apart from my home one.. the reason for the above-mentioned conviction shift has to do with science and rational, logical thinking generally, and with the grand theory of evolution, specifically.
it took me long, endless sessions of hard reading and study of serious scientific literature (plus cross-matching all the quotes and claims in jw evolution-related literature), to finally make the shift from utterly firm religious belief to doubt, and then to lack of religious faith.

Im not sure how much longer i can take this
by DS211 ini kind of snapped at my wife today...for no reason really.

as i still believe in god i feel like a hypocrite.

you mentioned smoking and now I have Nictoine Addiction and Lung Cancer ads on my page.
Don't you just hate that you can't just quit like a Gym membership that no longer suits your current needs. Someone at the gym might call and ask if you are alright. But they wouldn't shun you if they saw you later out in public wearing a different Gym tshirt. The hardest part is stopping the auto-withdrawals for the old Gym membership from your checking account.

Advise needed please
by EdenOne indear forumites, i need your advise please.. i would like to write a letter to the world headquarters of the jehovah's witnesses regarding a subject that i've published an article recently.
i would like to draw the attention of the gb to said article, which i will send in print form (therefore, no attention would be drawn to the website where it was published).. naturally, because i am a jehovah's witness in good standing in the congregation and what i'll be discussing in my letter will be a dissenting view from the official doctrine/practice, i want to protect my identity and i don't want to be harassed by elders or subjected to any sort of judicial investigation.
nevertheless, i would be very interested in reading their response (if any) to my letter.. how can i do that?

I suggest a fake name and a friend that has a post office box.
If suddenly there was "new light" and the shunning policy was changed and my parents and siblings called me after 25 yrs of shunning me....
I don't know that I'd be ready or even want to just jump into a relationship with those strangers. -

Finally sending a letter to the elders today
by Suraj Khan infigured i'd give them a shot to explain why i was expelled from the congregation 23 years ago without counsel or a jc.
dear sirs:.
i attended the xxxx congregation in the mid-1980s as a teenaged unbaptized publisher.

I've been wanting to send a letter like this for the same reasons. In my case it's been 25yrs.
I heard I've been labled a" full-blown Apostate" and that I was trying to "take down the 'tower'".I was surprised, and a little flattered.

Should I move officially to this new cong?
by will-be-apostate inso i got in college recently (petroleum engineering), which is 150+ miles away from my home town.
i started to go to the meetings once in a while to please my parents because i hate lieing to them, although i did several times regarding meetings.. last time an elder - special pioneer - came to me at the hall and asked me if i had already thought about transfering my 'files' aka.
publisher card to that congregation.

There is nothing the JW's have to offer, including their paraise earth and my parents and siblings that I would trade for what I have on the outside.

breakup guilt
by fresh prince of ohio ini recently broke up with my girlfriend of four years.. she is 40 years old, with health problems, financial problems, little family/friend support, and facing an uncertain future.
i gave her some money.. the guilt i am experiencing right now is absolutely anguishing.
she had very, very high hopes about our relationship and loved me very deeply.

If her condo is upside down and you/she have exhausted all options to save it. Have her stop making payments and start saving that money towards a place to move too. Also, if you have extra money just laying around and you think that it will help her and ease your guilt, send it to her.
