to buy a house or not... suggestions, experience, help!

many years ago i bought a house because the government basically threw money at us and the mortgage was pretty much the same as the weekly rent in $ per week.. obviusly that has changed, here in aust real estate has gone through the roof with a house considered a bargain at $300,000 for a first home buyer.. so here i am at 47, thinking about buying a house so that when i retire, the wife and i will not have to pay rent or mortgage at all.

we have to raise $25k more (we have 10) for deposit and fees in the next 18 months to do this.

(offer is to buy mil house at reduced market price).

There are way too many variables for anyone to give you advice, Aussie; but you don't want to be still renting when you retire. Factor in inheritances, kids growing up, possible retrenchment, etc. Still, in a hundred years time, it won't matter much.

I remember my first reason for disliking JWs after a visit from them today

two witness ladies and a baby called today (obviously i am either not marked down as d/f or they didnt get told) and it reminded me of what my first beef was with them.. i would like to argue with them but just am not ready to be known as apostate till my kids are out... i am still known where i live, as i used to give public talks in this congs territory.. anyway, today i just stopped the presentation and it went like this:.

me; witnesses are not my favorite people.

after being reinstated in 2008, i was finally appointed ms last night.. i am so excited now that i have a certain measure of 'power'.. ex-ms's/elders, what types of challenges come with this priviledge?.

what will be expected from me?.

Getting into Arguments with JW's...

i'm trying to fade away, but i sometimes find myself in discussions or arguments with jw family/friends/white haired virgin elders.

now, i usually have them beat on things but i'm not very experienced, so i was thinking if you guys could help me put together a list of completely unanswerable questions to pose to my jw friends/family/elders so they can stop bugging me.

if i keep asking them questions they simply cannot answer, then they might leave them alone.

2010 - NO District Convention For Me - WoooHoooo! Anybody Else?

i have attended district conventions since i was a little kid every year.

now that i have woken up from the wt nightmare, this will be my first year to miss a district convention!

If you Google 'mame' on the internet you may be able to play Galaxians again on your PC. All the hardware that was in those old arcade games can be emulated by software. I have hundreds of those old arcade games on my pc.
