That's what I've always wondered about the folks here who still attend. There's no way in Hell I could sit through that man made drivel anymore. It's amazing how you guys can sit there taking in all that BS when at this point you know for a fact it definitely is man made rules of BS but still sit there and take it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You hit the nail on the head: it's manmade drivel - the rules, the articles, the boring, dry talks...it's all from some old men in the Watchtower head office. I"m truly amazed anyone can put up with this. I left in 1990 and we would secretly make the same complaints about the god awful mtgs. at the KH.

Another boring "special ass-embly day". I remember those at the Woodland Hills, Calif. back in the 80's. A wasted Saturday talking about the usual end-of-the-world tripe.

Awesome topic. The Magic Flute has always been one of my favorite operas. The music is wonderful and its' philosophy is eternal.

Even *newer* light: (Brooklyn, New York) Larry David's officially been hired by the WTBTS to help write the WT and Awake articles. It seems too many people have been complaining about the boring and dry articles. The former Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm writer said he was delighted to help out the Governing Body and that he was "thrilled" about the multi-million dollar contract the Society offered him.
No word yet on the rumor that he's creating a new show for HBO called, Two and a half ministerial servants, a sitcom centered on the madcap adventures of two gay ministerial servants. We'll keep you posted.

Evil Spirits
by LizLA indoes anyone on this forum have knowledge about casting out demons or evil spirits?
there's at least two of them that have been harrasing me even before i was a jw.
i recently attended a deliverance church to find some help but it was apparent that the holy spirit was missing from that church.

You Do KNOW harekrishna is a CULT right? Plain and simple for you, ... you have gone from one cult into another one. You didn't pass GO, but you do still have a get out of jail free card... Wake UP!!
LOL. So 'they're' a 'CULT'. Ah, thanks for that warning. I didn't know we had a vote on it and it was decided. I bet you have a lot of experience with them and know all about them.
It seems like most exJW's who post on here fall into three basic groups:
1. raging/angry atheists
2. newly converted Methodists/Catholics/Born Agains/Protestants
3. agnostics who probably will have nothing to do with any organized religion ever again.
Everyone has a right to their opinion. God knows, we all are carrying a lot of baggage from the JW experience. With that said, I would've thought this board, out of all the thousands of religious discussion boards out there, would be the most open minded and curious. Sadly, I'm quickly finding it quite the opposite.
When somebody first mentioned they were having problems with spirits, I thought that would be the start of an open discussion among like minded people. Instead, most people started making fun of that person, as if the original poster were crazy. It strikes me as extremely arrogant to throw mud and verbal insults at what you probably know little about. (Whether it's one's religious choices or whatever).
I mean, didn't we just leave a group that did that all the time? When I escaped the JW's (I was born into it), I vowed to be as open minded and tolerant of other views as humanly possible. I guess I just assumed that all other exJW's would be just as open minded.
Wake UP!!
Yes, I did wake up. For once in my life I feel spritually uplifted like I never felt all those years going to the KH. I lovethe incredible vegetarian food and the wonderful festivals at the Hare Krishna temple. (All of which have its' roots based on
ancient Indian/Vedic traditions).
All I can say is, keep an open mind. Please stop hurling verbal assaults at religious groups you know nothing about. Try to broaden your horizons and be more tolerant of others. Life is too damn short to keep slinging that mud!
Hare Krishna!

I always wonder how you can reach that conclusion that there is no God/Creator.
Because there is no evidence on one and lots against.
I guess this should be a separate thread, 'do you still believe in God after leaving the JW movement'.
I became an atheist after leaving the JW's (the only religion I knew). It took a great man like Swami Srila Prabhupada and his Bhagavad-Gita, As It Is to make me believe in a creator. He gives a bunch of evidence for a God.

Pros about being a jehovah's witness
by raxxxx incan you personally think of any pros of being a jws?
anything that you have experienced that was and still is beneficial to you now from when u were a jw?.
-
harekrishna
Looking back, there were of course a million cons, but you asked for the pros so here goes: 1. All those boring family Bible studies made me a better reader and enriched my vocabulary. 2. I remember the book, "Listening to the Great Teacher" with the pink cover. The only JW book I didn't throw away taught me basic morals. 3. Giving public talks taught me to speak more confidently in front of others.

Isn't it curious how spookerdos only bother people who believe in them.
That's no true. "Spookerdos" as you call them can cause mental illness and all kinds of problems for people. You'll rarely see the Exorcist type special effects with a possessed person. There's a whole world of things out there that you can't see.
