Thought this was interesting. It's called Blinded by the bright colors of the socialist utopia. Check out the pics. They look like something off the cover of a WT magazine. Only instead of pics of diverse people, they're all North Korean. Looks like great minds think alike.

Was it all just a dream...
by zeroday* ini was out riding my motorcycle today and passed my old kingdom hall only 2 miles away.
it was just before the sunday meeting and they were walking into the kh.
being da'd for 6 years it has been that long since i've seen any of them.

I used to live just a few miles from my KH. I never pass by it, fortunately, but I know what it's like to see someone you used to be friends with. To meet them face to face and try talking about the weather instead of Jehovah is weird.
My wife--who is still a JW--hates that KH, BTW. Lotta bad memories, even for her.

Does anyone remember that old book about dress and grooming?
by IsaacJ22 ini'm working on an article for my site, and i can't remember what the name of that old book about dress and grooming was called.
we had an elder who had a serious "thing" about how you were dressed, and he carried that book around at every meeting with all the "good stuff" underlined so he could show it to you just before he smacked you with it.
it looked like it was about a hundred years old.. anyone remember the title?.

Typical email exchange I just had with a JW
by jwfacts inmost of the emails that i receive from jws are short and to the point - i am wrong and jehovah will soon exact vengeance on me.
they never identify where i am wrong.
here is a typical one.

I've occasionally had similar reactions on my site. Mostly in the form of comments, not emails. I made my email slightly harder to get to, so knee jerk reactionaries have a little more time to cool down by the time they get their. But most of the negative comments seem to come from people who know some Witnesses and who probably didn't even read the article their commenting on. Or I linked to another article that was negative and they didn't seem to realize that I wasn't the author. Basically, people who didn't seem to think at all before commenting. I have yet to hear back from anyone after I left my response.

Why do you visit this site?
by exwhyzee inif being one of jw's is truly behind you, why do you visit this site years later to discuss the subject ?
i know why i do but am curious why others do and how long it will continue.
when will enough be enough?.

I kinda like Black Sheep's answer.
I'm past being a JW in so far as I haven't been to a Kingdom Hall in years and they've stopped hounding me. I keep coming here (though I quit for a while) because I want to know what's going on with that side of my wife's life without actually having to talk to her about it. I don't want to tempt her to Witness at me or anything. Also, there's my in-laws who get on my nerves and the occasional confrontation with them or other JWs who think they need to straighten me out. (If you've ever been to my web site, you'll notice that I write about dealing with confrontations a lot. So that's on my mind.) I also learn things before my wife does about the Society, which is nifty, and get to have conversations with people who have a WT background in common with me.

I'm so miserable since leaving the JWs
by keyser soze ini can barely stand it.
does anyone else feel this way?.
for instance, i have a four-day weekend from work, which means i had today off(with pay, thank you very much).

The assumption Witnesses make about exxers like us being miserable since leaving "the truth" is pretty darn convenient. Another one I've heard a lot is that critics are just jealous. Which is hilarious. My mom used to tell me that when the kids at school made fun of my freckles. Wow.

In-laws are here for my wifes District Convention
by SAHARA inas i've stated in my previous posts, i am not a jw but my wife is and it's that time of year when the conventions are going on.
my wife's parents and sister/husband live in az while we live in ca.
they haven't come to visit since i've had a little falling out with my inlaws last year about studying with my son by phone behind my back when normally we would visit each other at least 3 - 4 times/year each.

Sahara, I'm a former JW, but my wife is still in the Society. She rarely goes to meetings or attends field service any more, but still believes.
Her family also pressures her to go to meetings and assemblies. They already have a ride set up for her to go to the convention, they'll just call out of the blue and ask if she needs a ride to the Hall for the meeting, things like that. I've even heard her sweet old grandma go off on her on the phone (it wasn't on speaker or anything like that, I was just in the room) demanding to know, "Why not?!" when my wife told her she didn't feel like going to that night's meeting.
I would take Ruth's advice and tell them she can't go because she's too sick, doctor's orders. My wife uses me to help her when her family sometimes gets overly pushy as well.

Bible Students/Jehovah's Witnesses
by StAnn ini hope i'm coherent here as i have a question.
from what i read somewhere in the numerous ex-jw publications, the majority of the bible students who followed c. t. russell were appalled by the changes that rutherford forcefully imposed and they refused to follow rutherford.
because rutherford was president of the corporation, the bible students could not keep the names of the watchtower and the ibs but left the organization under rutherford and have continued to this day, following russell's teachings, and still calling themselves the bible students.
