This comparison would still be useful in showing the similarities to JWs, who actually do believe that these things were true of the Pharisees.

Sparlock entry at Uncyclopedia
by IsaacJ22 ini created a brief entry at the uncyclopedia on sparlock.
it can be found here at http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/sparlock.
if you guys want to make it bigger, better, funnier, that could insure that the entry stays up.

Looks like Sparlock at Wikipedia is slated for deletion anyway...

JWB, I actually started working on something like that at my site for a laugh. I got sidetracked with all the news that's been coming out this month so I haven't finished it yet. My Adventures With Sparlock, that sort of thing.
My wife had a good idea I want to implement as well: a fake series of articles where people write in to Sparlock for advice and he tries to answer. Sort of like an "Ask Sparlock!" instead of a "Young People Ask." Most of answers would involve booze and hookers. Cuz that's how the Sparlock inside my head rolls.
I saw what you did at the Uncyclopedia, Dropoff. Thanks. I mean to make it bigger, culminating it with inspiration from your entry, if I get the chance. Or unless someone else makes it funnier.
Thanks for the comments, guys.

My browser tends to make links clickable automatically, so I didn't even notice the link wasn't. Sorry about that.
You have to go to talk section. The guy (who can delete the post if he wants) wanted me to explain the entry. He also didn't think it was funny (I actually just threw some stuff down to give it something and want to make it bigger later this week).
I have added a write-up on Wikipedia about Sparlock. The guy at Uncyclopedia cited that he couldn't even find Sparlock on Wikipedia, so I thought I'd do that while I was at it. Please feel free to take a look and make it better, too! Wikipedia could also delete the entry.

Science and the supernatural - thoughts and opinions wanted
by freshstart ini definitely support science, i think that the entire field is fascinating.
the things that have been discovered and that will be discovered in the future is mind-boggling.
i do wonder, however, if there is some things that science can't explain.

I used to believe in pretty much everything people talk about -- or most of it, at least. I don't really think there is such a thing as supernatural any more. It's all natural. But I also think there's a tendency to attribute anything unexplained to the supernatural. "I don't know" means only that. We don't have to assume anything more. In fact, doing so often holds us back from finding the real answer. So it's a bad idea all around IMO. :-)

Could be fun and could raise awareness about Sparlock, and the WTS.

Marital problems - advice (or support) please
by jamesmahon incompletely non-jw related this but value the diversity of experience and viewpoint on this forum.
i am going to sketch this out quick as i can but please ask any questions if the gaps need filling.. as some may know, i have been married for 12 years with two children (8 and 4).
my wife stopped work when the eldest was born and has been a stay at home mum since.

I has gotten better because they gave her birth control meds that had the emotional meds already in them. Before, she kept lying to her doctors and telling them everything was fine and not taking the meds anyway. She still has OCD problems which are hard. But it's way better than it was. Her family used to be down on me, but now we don't have much contact with them. So :D
If there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you, that's one thing. If not, it will almost surely end one way or another, man. :-( I would push for something to make her better (if there's anything you haven't done) or I'd leave this sinking ship.
BTW, one of the reasons she might be trying to cheat is because she thinks the right guy will make it better. But it won't. It's all about her problems. Right now, she probably blames you for all of them.
Whatever you do, I wish you the best.

Unless there's a way of improving her issues, I'm inclined to agree with jgnat. I have had some similar issues with my wife, though that was years ago.
Unless there's a light at the end of this tunnel, I would get off now.
Frankly, the longer you wait, the longer it will take to get past it all. I would make a plan, think about how this is going to go down, probably talk to someone who knows about this stuff from experience AND a lawyer, and get ready. I don't know how the laws work where you are, but I'd keep any evidence of infidelity or attempted infidelity. It might be important later. Her lawyers will do anything they can to work things to her advantage even if she wouldn't do anything to hurt you (though she clearly would).
Sooner or later, you will hate your life so much that you will do anything to get away. Or you'll wish you had. :-( If she can't be helped, you are only prolonging your misery to no end. It will end one way or another. It may as well be on your terms.
Sorry I don't have better news, but I've seen it happen again and again to people. I don't recommend it. Change is scary, just like going from a JW to leaving the WTS. But many XJWs get through. Many people get through divorce. You will too, my friend. It can be better than this.

I'm reminded of an episode of MST3K about Merlin. It was sort of like the old Friday the 13th TV series, but Merlin had the cursed objects. Practically everyone around him end up dead or wishing they had died if they didn't take Merlin's advice. Sometimes Merlin would cause the harm just to teach the hapless mortals a lesson.
In the words of one of the SOL puppets pretending to be Merlin, "Believe in the power of magic! Or I'll kill you."
