I agree with Judge Dread. The message isn't new, it is the same recycled message I have heard. When I was at the Special Assembly Day recently, there was nothing new. There was a talk on the blessing that results from singleness, it is a scriptural teaching, we hear about it at every convention and assembly. Where I attended, while slanting toward singleness, also acknowledged the blessing of marriage.

WOW!!! Just found out from someone who went to the one day assembly....
by Lady Liberty inhello friends... just found out that at the recent one day assembly they are now really discouraging people from getting married!!!!!
they will lose young ones like crazy if they start telling them that they cannot get married...what are these sexually frusterated young people to do??
you cannot masterbate, you cannot have sex outside of marriage (not that i would encourage it either, but...), now you cannot even get married?????

w88 3/1 Responsible Childbearing it this Time of The End
My wife was preganant when this article came out, I remember us talking about it and feeling a little guilty. In the past few decades and at the SAD recently, they are more careful to not totally speak against it, but the heavy slant is clearly the benefit and joy of waiting.
I debriefed my 16 year old daughter about the assembly, first she mentioned "the time left is reduced" and then she mentioned about singleness, she paused and asked, "why do they tell us that ... why can't we just decide for ourselves if we want to be married" ... I assured her that she can and I was happy she was reasoning on it. I told her that our religion has been saying these things for over a hundred years so she needs to take that into consideration. I have been working at getting my kids and wife to think about what they hear. My wife knows why and does not appreciate it.
Another sad note, our CO's wife, she is adorable and loves children. Since she was a little girl she has wanted a lot of children, but is waiting until the new system. I feel so bad for her. She loves to talk with the small children in the hall and adores the babies.

Governing Body two-thirds majority
by wannabefree ini believe current count is 9 gb, so that makes 6 out of 9 for it to be so?.
how about two-thirds when all 10,800 or so are given a say?.

Is this purely a math question
No, I was just pondering, if the fate of all of mankind is in the hands of a 2/3 majority of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses ... and as was mentioned in another post, if they have this allowance because 100% may not agree even though they all are spirit directed (spirit of confusion?) ... I think the +/- margin of error is too high with such a small cross section of people. I think I would be more comfortable with two-thirds majority of at the least all 10,800 +/-.

Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings
by LittleSister intoday i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

2010 - Year of the Governing Body?
by lepermessiah inlet me explain by what i am getting at without sounding like captain obvious!
i am actually excited about this since i think this could help assist a ton of people out of this organization!!.
i believe that the governing body is stepping up efforts to emphasize their unconditional rulership - every wt study article seems to make reference to their authority.

I agree, it sure seems to be headed this way. A couple months ago an elder in the congregation brought up a point to me and I questioned him of the source, he referred to a KM article of years gone by, I stopped him and said show me in the Bible, he said it was in the KM, don't you trust that, I said sure, if its backed up by scripture, he said it's from the faithful slave, don't you trust what they have to say, I replied, if its backed up by the Bible. I wasn't trying to be confrontational at all, but he didn't like my reply.

I was just thinking about this movie the other day. I was thinking about the character Cypher - he wants back into the Matrix and to forget reality - I couldn't help but relate to this pondering my recent final realization the I have been a part of a cult for the past two + decades. I haven't been treated poorly, I have good friends, I have children who have great relationships with others in the congregation, we love our congregation ... realizing the difficult road ahead of me, I can't help but be envious of those who have had long happy lives as oblivious JW's ... there is no going back.
I am drawn to return to this website throughout the day. I notice some have been here for years and years. It seems like people just can't move on. Will I be able to? Does the Watchtower remain an obsession? Damn me! Why did I ever get into it!? ... Welcome to the Hotel California ... you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave ...

Do you Know of any JW Pedophiles who Currently Go Out in Service ?
by flipper inmy wife suggested this thread and i agree it's a good idea to put this out here to find out.
just wanted to give her credit for the idea.. most of the public have no idea that some of the jehovah's witnesses people calling at their door are a previously convicted sex offender or pedophile who may have served hard time in prison for their crime.
it would be interesting to have an informal survey here and get an idea of the sheer numbers of these child molesters who are out on the loose.. in your opinion - how would the public react if they knew that child molesters were regularly calling on their doors ?

Clearly, a pedophile is a unique and sick indivdual. The thing with the sex offender registry is that I don't believe all States clarify the crime. A person on the sex offender registry isn't necessarily a pedophile or what most would classify as a sexual deviant. I was 18 and my girlfriend was 16 when we became sexually active ... we have been married now for 24 years ... had our imtimate relationship been found out by vengeful parents, i could have been in a whole lot of trouble and on the sex offender registry for life.
