i've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.

i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.

where do jws stand on the new medical marijuana?

i know they would df for use of it for recreation but if a dr in california gave it as a perscript, and it was legal to buy and use for medical use, has anyone ran into this yet?.

It is my understanding that it is a conscience matter as long as it is not smoked ... brownies okay, bongs not. I could be wrong.

EDIT: I asked an elder a few months ago and that is how he explained it (I threw in the brownie/bong terms).

As far as being legal, I believe the issue here is that, it is technically illegal according to federal law, therefore, there is a reserved fear that the feds could crack down on the use if they wanted to, although unlikely, because the states don't have the authority to supersede federal law.

At a recent Circuit Assembly, the Circuit Overseer made the comment, "someone who visits so-called Witness chat boards or uses sites like MySpace is at the very best someone who disregards the counsel of the Faithful Slave ... what kind of association would such ones be?"

Wow ... can you imagine what they would say about those who visit AND participate with known apostates?! Guilty by association!

Any news releases on Ray Franz yet?

i have been doing google searches on ray's passing and have not seen anything other than what has been posted on the ex-jw bulletin boards.

i thought i read a post by barbara andersen talking about an ap release to be sent out.

has anyone heard anything more...it would be a shame for ray's passing to go unnoticed outside of these forums..

Day 2 of the Convention is over ... what's missing?

day number 2 is done.. there was an audio drama, sure, it adds some excitement, hey, its different.. final talk "stay close to jehovah, as jeremiah did" ended with the release of the book ... god's word for us through jeremiah ... not a verse by verse consideration of prophecy, rather, what we can learn from jeremiah's life as a prophet, considers information from jeremiah and lamentations.

(of course informed readers of this site knew of this release already.).

noticibly missing ... jesus christ ... to me it was painfully obvious.. one talk i think was numbing our mind to accept the generation bomb tomorrow.. i couldn't help but realize that throughout the convention so far, the vast majority of scriptural references are from old testament (yes, it was hard not to say hebrew scriptures, so i just did).. i didn't realize it so much in the past, but it seems like jehovah's witnesses are trying to accomplish what the nation of israel couldn't, follow laws.

Titus: I did not do any video recording ... and unfortunately I had a mechanical failure during 2 parts, the drama and another main talk ... I plan on getting them from a friend that also recorded.
