he did not do what the Bible says he did.
Show me an example of what you don't like that the Bible says "God did this". We've been speaking in generalities. Give me a specific.

Wow just n from bethel... what a lot of misspoken rubbish.
Yet God's way to communicate Christ to the entire world so as to "save" them - is through the Bible?
God does not save people through the Bible. He saves those that have faith in Christ (1John 5:1)
their new but same version of Christianity
This is not new. It is plain Christianity. If you take the Bible to be the word of God which people have for thousands of years, then you can see that what is being said here is true according to the Bible. You don't have to like it or believe it. But it is from the Bible.
But here they are rationalizing away why the big guy kills babies and rapes women.
Obviously you haven't been reading this thread closely or read the Bible. God never raped women nor sanctioned the rape of women. There were women that were raped and it was recorded in the Bible. That does n ot mena that God approved of it.
If you meant for this thread to NOT be meant for believers, then you should have specified. But if you want to get into a discussion about the Bible, then I will contribute. If you don't like the God of the Bible, that is your prerogative.

If there were other righteous ones in the city, God would have spared them from his judgement. Otherwise they would be in heaven and have been living in paradise now for thousands of years. What a horrible prospect!
i posted this on another thread because i was unable to start a new one, but now i can.
here is the post:.
i have been corresponding with my mil as many of you know.
Is the spirit at work there or is that just chance? Or possibly just our own minds slowly opening up to see the man behind the curtain?
Hey Cheeze! I'm glad to talk to you again. I was an idiot before when I left. Sorry bout that. I try not to take things so personally anymore. It's been going a whole lot better that way.
Anyway, people that lose faith and come out of the organization wouldn't neccesarily be those that were called out by the Holy Spirit.
According to Eph 1:4-6 - "For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."
So there are those that do see the man behind the curtain in the organization and come out. But there are also those that are drawn out by God to serve Him.
Some may come out of the Watchtower and become agnostic or atheist, and will eventually be drawn by the Spirit. Some are drawn by the Spirit directly from the organization. I am hoping my MIL is one of those. I hope she doesn't lose her faith in this process. But that is beyond my control.

whereiam, do I think your eyes are blind? Yes. Does it have to be permanent? No. Do I judge you as someone lesser than a believer? No. I'm not trying to insult you, just having a debate.
The arguments that this video poster uses is weak and uses strawman arguments. He tries to claim that believers have no arguments to the problems brought up by non believers and just close their ears to truth. That's just not true. Non believers may not "like" the answer that they get because they don't like the type of God that they think God is. But there is an answer to most questions brought up by non believers. He uses people that have used weak arguments as a general consensus of the Christian community. They are not. He is quoting from liberal Christians and Christians that don't take the Bible as inerrant.

You will defend your cruel murdering god to the end because if you don't, you'll end up like the people you feel deserve to be destroyed
I defend my loving and just God because He is deserving of my worship. He made a way out from my sins. He has declared all believers in Christ to be righteous even though we are sinners and do not deserve it.
He has made a way out for all of us. While millions of people think that they have 70 or 80 years to live life to the full and commit any sort of sin they want without consequence, and then die and all will be over, God has shown that this does not have to be the case. His hand is outstretched. All we have to do is take hold and believe in Him.
But it should be expected that there will be those that will mock God and blashpeme Him. I just hope they come to their senses before it is too late.

I can respect that, Sab.
But the judgments of God in the OT are continued in the NT. If you read Revelation you see what will be the eventuality of men that do not submit to God's rule, and it's judgement is like the judgements in the OT only more severe. It speaks of 1/3 of the population as being killed off. It speaks of horrible judgements. But throughout the book it also speaks of a way out for those that attach themselves to Jesus.
Instead of thinking, "God is horrible for his judgements" why not think, "These people must have been pretty bad to deserve such harsh punishment." Do you think they were actually good people? Like misery said earlier, in Sodom and Gomorrah (2 large cities) God could not find even 5 righteous people that deserved to be saved. These were horrible wicked nations.

Perhaps as a demonstration to those that would be considering a wrong course? The Bible doesn't say why God chooses to do some of the things he does. But we cannot stand in judgement and condemnation of God.
Let's say that God is real, and you are mocking him and insulting him by calling him a cruel monster?

people feel justified in judging that others are unfit for life.
Again, that is wrong. People do not judge. I personally have absolutely NO say in who God does or does not judge as wicked. Those that felt justified to take judgements into their own hands are absolutely wrong and have no excuse.
I do not worship an angry God. I worship a perfect God of love, faithfulness, and the only one that can be called "Good".
No, this god you speak of is all too human and full of mistakes.
And this is the conclusion that you will come to from a surface understanding of the Bible. Deeper Spirit given knowledge will reveal a far different attitude of God. I beg you to give Him a chance. Open your heart in prayer and see if you come to a different conclusion. Read the NT to get a real understanding of Jesus Christ and then you will understand God better in the OT.
ever listened to a song, and the lyrics really touched & hit a nerve with what you are going through faith wise?.
i listened to an album the other day for the first time and there was a lot - quite a few of the songs hit.
i'm not afraid to say that driving along, some made tears well up a bit - it was the robbie williams escapology album, the songs "better man" and "come undone" had lines in them that really hit home.
They performed it at the Grammy's last night. It was absolutely amazing!
