If they were REALLY interested in directing people to God, then why is the Bible never brought up? It's only "our publications"... They are so in love with themselves and what they write!

Did you ever try any of the awkward, and somewhat creepy suggestions in the KM for Informal Witnessing?
by miseryloveselders inthe august km, has an article entitled, "you can witness informally!
" this week's service meeting will cover half of the 13 questions.
next week, congregations will finish the article along with a box full of several experiences with successful results from informal witnessing.

I know this topic has been discussed here before, but I still cease to be amazed at the spending that the WT does to build it's facilities. This is an issue that JWs like to brag about. Today I received an email regarding the open house of the new Casa Grande AZ assembly hall. It was described as "such a wonderful provision that Jehovah has provided us". This multi million dollar showy display of money is not what is shocking to me in itself. There are many other churches from basically every other religion that have beautiful places of worship. What shocks me is that there is this lavish spending on buildings while they refuse to help any non-JW in need. They do not feed the hungry, help the poor, or heal the sick. They brag about their relief efforts when disasters hit, but the help is almost exclusively directed towards JWs in good standing.
Here is a link to a slide show of 36 photos of this new monsterous assembly hall. You may have to download the latest version of MS silverlight to view this.
If they were REALLY following biblical direction, would they not be content with a simple building to worship in? Simple but comfortable? No. The assembly hall looks like a building that would belong to a multi-million dollar celebrity.
This is just 1 of their thousands of buildings. How many starving children could they have fed if they used this money towards a greater cause?!?

Bible CONTRADICTIONS (Post Yours Here!) -- And Yahweh is a "Monster"!
by UnDisfellowshipped in"yahweh is a monster and the bible is full of contradictions!".
this is for all atheists, skeptics, believers, anyone to post the biggest contradictions that you believe are found in the bible, and also to tell about why you believe the god of the old testament (yahweh/jehovah) is a "monster" (as so many have said on this website in the past).. so this is a double-themed-thread!.
i want to see if i can provide good answers/solutions using logic and reasoning..

Terry is as blind as he was when he was a jw. Everything on his list was from anothers website. He shows that he cannot think for himself. He has no respect in any other world view than his own. How sad! Even though you will come back and insult me, I feel sorry for you Terry. What a miserable life you must have to not have any hope or belief in something bigger than yourself. RIP Terry.

A Child Called "It"
by brotherdan ini know many of you have probably already read this book, but as i was listening to it as an audio book, i had a new thought.
this poor child was abused by his mother.
there is a part in the book where the teachers and police are trying to get him to talk about the things his mother had done to him.

I know many of you have probably already read this book, but as I was listening to it as an audio book, I had a new thought. This poor child was abused by his mother. There is a part in the book where the teachers and police are trying to get him to talk about the things his mother had done to him. He makes the comment that he deserved it because he was a bad kid. He felt "slimy" inside because he felt so guilty.
How many of us have felt that way while inside the WT org? This may be a bit personal, but I began regular pioneering when I was 16. I quit school and got my diploma via the CA Proficiency test. During my pioneering I was going through adolescence. During this period it is common to experiment with masturbation. I did that too. I felt so guilty about it, especially after reading the "Young people ask" book, that I eventually quit pioneering. I felt disgusting before Gods eyes.
I think that this organization tends to be like an abusive parent. They may tell you that they love you. They may tell you that they are doing what they do for your best interests. But at the same time, they show you that you are scum. You can never do enough. You can never BE good enough. Natural things that you go through (i.e masturbation, liking girls that you did not intend to marry, etc...) are condemned by these people as being shameful.
I bring this up because I now have 2 boys. 1 is four years old and the other is 5 months old. I will never let them feel the feelings of guilt that I felt when being condemned by this org. They will have girlfriends and only have the feelings of being liked by another person (something I never had due to my guilt). They will go through their puberty years and while it may be awkward, it will not be the shame filled experience that I had. I think that the organization is emotionally abusive in many of the same way that some parents can be abusive.

Watchtower says: Jesus is a FALLEN ANGEL
by UnDisfellowshipped inthe watchtower society teaches that jesus is a fallen angel!.
back in the days of charles taze russell, the watchtower society correctly taught that abaddon/apollyon from revelation chapter 9 was satan or a demon (because the bible describes him as a fallen angel of the abyss who is in control of all of the demon/locusts):.
the finished mystery (1917):.

They still teach it. Even though Abaddon is said to come out of the abyss, they still say that since he has the key, he must be Jesus.

I too thought this was SO telling. By believing this they are saying:
1. Satan is their Savior or Christ
2. They are followers of him
3. They have been sent by him
They have already admited that Jesus is merely an angel, Michael. Now they say he is a fallen angel, Abbadon. Is there any clearer proof that they represent the devil?

My in-laws called bethel to check and see if I'd actually been there. Strangely enough, even though I was a total dysfunctional bethelite, I got a good report. Strange. They didn't like me when I was there, but they gave me great reviews to get married.
