The fact that I know muslims who don't beat their wives or kill infidels is proof.
That is not proof. But the fact remains. The Koran commands these things of modern muslims. If muslims choose not to obey then are they really muslims? If a Christian chooses to not obey the command of Christ to "love your neighbor", then are they really a Christian?
in my late teens and very early twenties, i was active in jw activities (heaps of service time, ms, etc.
) to most people who knew me, i'm sure i appeared to be a full believer, but with hindsight, my faith was spotty.
i had all of the usual and fairly obvious questions about the organization buried in my mind.
We may define ‘faith’ as the firm belief in something for which there is no evidence.
That's an incorrect definition. Faith is your belief in something that you cannot demonstrate. Every person must have faith in things whether they want to admit it or not.

Why can't a Muslim take the same view of the Quran as you take of the Old Testament?
They don't. And that's a fact. Show me a source that says that Muslims view the Koran as history and that they don't have to follow the commands of Mohammad today.
They follow all it's rules. You're really straining here, Cheeze. I'm not being intollerant of Muslims. But what they are commanded to do in the Koran NOW is wrong. Jesus abolished the laws of the OT and made that very clear in the NT. We do not practice stoning. We were never commanded to beat our wives. We are not commanded to hate all those that are not Christian. We are commanded ultimately to LOVE all people.

Johnny could literally say "I'm not really a Bethelite at all" and Rick would probably say something like "Ok! We've got Johnny THE BETHELITE with us tonight!!!!"
That's awesome! You'd think that if he could come up with some sort of lies. Rick calls the JWNers "kooks" because he's been insulted on the site. But I've gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed with Rick. It seems that he is less concerned with what is "true" than with getting a good story. He's sort of turned into the mass media.

Those passages I quoted from the Koran are commands that are to be followed by followers TODAY! It's not a double standard, dude. The Bible does not command me to beat my wife into submission. The Koran DOES.
