Yikes, I gotta agree. I don't think this is gonna catch on. That looked so annoying...

Believe it or not, they are Lost Gen. Brian "Head" Whelch is making his mark on Christian metal too. I'm not so sure how I feel about it...But he has a great message and it rocks... But...I'm not sure I like the shock value he's trying to use to talk to kids.

This Brandon Heath song reminds me of being a JW and who I am now...

Scriptural proof of a paradise earth? Psalms 72:7; Isaiah 33:24
by Joey Jo-Jo ina very close person i know is trying to show biblical proof that there are two classes, one in heaven and the other on a paradise earth, i think i have the celestial class 144000 covered.
i was given these two scriptures as proof that there will be everlasting life on earth.. psalms 72:7 - in his days may the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace till the moon is no more.. isaiah 33:24 - and no resident will say, "i am sick"; the people who dwell there will be forgiven their iniquity.. would anyone have any brackground on these two scriptures and what they really apply to?.

How can anyone have a clear understanding of the Book of Revelation?
We can, and we must. Revelation is not a closed book to us. Rev 1:3 says: "Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near."
The Watchtower is the one that completely destroyed Revelation in spiritualizing every piece of it and twisting it to fit into their history. If you approach Revelation as largely literal, it makes much more sense. IMO

touche' Sab. What I meant was a clear understanding of the context of the books. I know that there are several interpretations. My point in saying the a clear understanding is needed is that you need to take Revelation into account when examining Zechariah. You can have a clear understanding of something, and get the interpretation wrong. And none of us can REALLY be certain of prophecy until it has become fulfilled.

Are you a TRUE Christian?!?
by brotherdan ini've been thinking alot over the past few days on what makes a christian a christian, and i'm coming to some different conclusions than i ever have.... the watchtower likes to use the term "true believers" or "true christians".
i'm at a loss here lately.
you are either an atheist or you are not.

If you proclaim yourself to be born again, I give you the benefit of the doubt. The only requirement is to come to Jesus for salvation. 1John 5:1. It's not a 24 hour convenience store. Obviously many, like yourself, choose to reject Him as Lord and Savior.
I do not feel authorized to judge anyone as a "real" or a "false" Christian. As far as I'm concerned, if you profess Christ to be your savior and went to Him with that desire, then you are a Christian in my book. You may sin. You may sin for a prolonged period of time. But a Christian will return to Christ. If that one dies in sin, it's up to God to decide. But I don't think that they CAN lose their reward after being born again.
I have never heard actual voices, but I have seen God use me in ways that I couldn't have expected to be used. And I thank Him for that. I don't want to judge anyone. I'm not a believer in tongues or the other spiritual gifts at this time. Does that mean that I think that those that believe in them are less Christian than I am? Absolutely not.

trevor, I tend to use the atheist vs Christian argument because agnostics are all over the place in beliefs. But atheists are so sure that there is not a God and say that if you DO believe in a God, then you are not rational.
Since the range of agnostic belief is SO wide, then I usually don't choose to debate it initially.

What is it with all the men waking up but the wives stay in? Why is it the opposite for me?
by Cadellin inthis is something i've thought about for a while now.
it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.
he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.

I think Mad Sweeny is most correct. You tend to see things at the higher levels. You feel the judgements a lot more because men are given "privledges" and women are not. Women are kept in the background and constantly reminded to only SUPPORT their husbands.
Sadly, though, this tends to end once the husband comes out of the organization. But I've seen SO many examples of the wives eventually coming to their senses too. And many times this is YEARS after their husbands have seen the truth.

but when they screw up they were never really Born Again.
That is not a teaching of the Christian chuch. If you have faith in Christ as your savior, even though you may sin (even prolonged sin), that does not make your salvation any less sure. It shows that Christ sacrifice was great enough to even cover over all sorts of sin. We can't use the term "true Christian" or "false Christian" until we are proclaimed as such by our Lord and Savior. Any human that presumes to do this is going beyond what authority they have.
