i took a walk down to the corner store to find something to help out my slight hangover from watching the cowboys and my poker night.
i made it half way down the block and there they were!
two older couples out door-to-door.. they seemed to be having a pow-wow in front of a block of apartments.

i cannot fathom how the vast majority of my 7.5 million brothers and sisters, (especially all who are members of the worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovahs witnesses) can believe for one second, the "given" explanation of romans 6:7. this is what taught; .
insight book - 2p.138judgmentday - "those resurrected will not be judged on the basis of the works done in their former life, because the rule at romans 6:7 says: he who has died has been acquitted from his sin.".
therefore, the following 6 scriptures can be ripped out of our bibles, because jesus does not have the god-given right to judge any dead people - because our own death has washed our sins away!!!
I always wondered as a kid who would get stuck with having Hitler for a bible study in the new system.
Would he cringe or freak out everytime we started talking about ancient israel and the Jews?
Would he eventually be in WT or Awake article: "How I went from hating God's people to be one of them" (SD-7 you can write that article)
Would he and Eva Braun show up and play board games with us at "get-togethers" and if so what would happen if I made words like "Stalin" "Blitz" "Normandy" "Allies"... hahaha.

I figured my other two options will be to engage them in conversation in sign language and then start asking questions like:
"What does God think about Masturbation"
OR----
I can ask why God let's religious people hurt children. I could tell them my story of how I became mix-ed up in an innappropriate relationship as a young lad. When I told the people I trusted at my church about it, I was humiliated and scarred for the rest of my life. It pushed me into a life of sin, drugs, and poverty. When they ask which church, I will tell them: Kingdom Hall of JW's....

They seemed to be having a pow-wow in front of a block of apartments. I guess someone was having a RV or something. I caught a glance from one of the sisters. I guess my disshelved look and dark sunglasses made me look a bit shady.
I figured that some poor kid was only a couple days away from being drug out into the heat wearing wool suits for a miserable morning. I figured it was my duty to give their parents some good ol JW urban legend material for the car ride this weekend.
I started looking at the ground and then the smile muttering "SPARLOCK!", then as I passed I got frantic, waving my arms and looking in the trees and bushes. "Sparlock, my master where have you gone". Then I just ran away screaming SPARLOCK MY MASTER... in a pitiful and anguished tone.
After I got my coke and burrito, I came back. They were gone!
after keeping up with the changes and new practices of the "org" one thing seems clear to me: the wtbs is looking at getting out of the religion business.
it seems running a worldwide religious organization is becoming too much of a legal liability especially when relying on uneducated and poorly trained men to run said organization.
look at the quagmire, the catholic church suffered with the child abuse scandal and this was a much larger and educated group of people.. that being said, i see the wtbs retreating back from being the head of the religion and moving back towards simply being a publishing company.
Well it would get very specific as to what each corp does. I think we are essentially saying the same thing, but your version would be a much less insulated way of doing things. The funds are co-mingled and they could never completely sever libability as long as NY was still appointing CO's and DO's that can fire Elder's from a central location as opposed to the member's of the congo's voting and appointing leadership. If the money goes to the Money Corp then they will have to finance to Religous side.
Many denominations are decentrailized like this. The Memebers have to approve the leadership some how and there are steps to remove them like an impeachment, regardless of what the conference or denominational hq says or feels. The clergy are actually employees serving at the pleasure of the members in many churches including mine. The denomination just ordains and certifies the clergy, like a plumbers union/guild. Oh you didn't like the master plumber we sent last week? Okay here's another.
I think what I am seeing is a complete backing away from running anything on the religious side. "Hey we just write books and magazines", it's up to the Congos do decided how and if to use them. This would protect them on a much better basis and simplify many things.
It would also lead to a slow dismantle of the org and save some face. After all by now even the GB has to realize their light is a little too dim to cut mustard and keep pace with the net.
Hey, you don't think we are giving them ideas do ya?
i think it's about time this get updated so more folks know the other meaning of t.t.a.t.t.
ttatt is an acronym for "the thing around the thing.".
this term, first known to be used by neal thomison around 1998, refers to the meta issues which surround the topic in question.. in designing software, creating art or negotiating contracts often the context and implications of the topic on the history and interrelationships at play is often as significant, if not more significant, that the content of the topic itself.. .
Thank you, I saw this earlier and thougth someone had a typo.
i spoke to a friend of mine about this not too long ago.. we are "of a certain age".. the subject came up somehow.. .
i'll be watching a tv commercial or i'll see some people in a park or a simple passing thought will suddenly induce a profound.
sense of---well, how to describe it?
A combination of lowering testosterone levels and experiences that make you realize how this world can be the best and worst place all at the same time.
My two cents. Glad your back!
However, uncontrollable responses to stimuli should be checked out for hormonal or other issues. From what you said, it's just stopping to smell the roses nothing to worry about there as long as you can move on with the rest of your day.

Mushroom fed and DOC yall bring up good points.
Mushroom you are kind of going down the easiest path. I don't think any real skimming has taken place. I believe most of the GB etc, up until now have been just boring old dudes that believe the b.s. and see it as their job to serve the structure.
However, once the WTBS seperates from controlling the actual congo's and becomes strictly a publication biz then I could see a change. I could see the GB and writers beginning to take credit for books and articles or not, and feeling entitled to "royalites" which would strictly be the business of themselves and the WTBS now that the congo's are cut loose.
DOC, they can form all the corps they want to in the world but as long as the CO's and DO's are on their payroll they can't dodge legal liability. The CO's and DO's are the ones instructing the elder's. The CO's can remove elders which makes the WTBS liable in certain legal situations for what they do. This is what I am saying. The Circuits and Districts will have to form conferences and hire their own CO's and DO's that will serve at the pleasure of the memebers. This is how most protestant churches operate today.
For example. If you lived in Ohio, I could see a Midwest regional conference of JW's that would fulfill the role of Bethel now. It would hire and fire CO's, DO's, missionaries, oversee the BOE's, conduct elder school etc. This get's the WTBS out of the religion biz completely. Everything I am reading the instructions for elder's to form new corps for the KH's, the instructions given at elder school, etc...etc... indicates this is the only way they can move on and be comfortable.
Sure the WTBS might maintain a small office to support the World Wide work that will take contributions from the conferences and donate them to conference's in 3rd world countries so they can afford conventions and new KH's etc...
The other option would be to tighten control even more and have all duties handled by trained and ordained minister's from brookyn like CO's. We both know that won't happen. It will create a defacto clergy/layity class in the congo's

Nomadsoul- Thank you for the correction. Yes my speculations based on observations.
Anony Mous- Exactly. We all know that you can't have your cake and eat it as well. If the WTBS is really legally seperating themselves from the individual congos, it is just a matter of time before the BOE's start thinking more independently. This could be a good thing.
Gayle- I tend to agree with you. That is what my speculation is based on. They don't really need the control like they used to. I believe they would be content to write their magazines and sell them to the congos that remain "faithful" until everyone is in a nursing home.

That being said, I see the WTBS retreating back from being the head of the religion and moving back towards simply being a publishing company. Congo's will be encouraged to form conferences much like other denominations and elect their old leaders and organization. Some of the things I have read indicate this might already be happening.
Ideally, I believe the WTBS wants to be in a position to where they just provide the books, magazines, and guides for the congos. Speaker's from Bethel will be available to the conference's actual convention meeting for a "nominal fee". The problem will be as these conferences (the size of circuits or districts) become more autonomous, what will happen when the WTBS changes doctrine again?
My guess is some of these new mini-orgs will begin to break away from the teet of Brooklyn and start using other materials and abandoning some of the more rediciluous JW traditions like birthdays, blood transfusions, etc... Obviously some people and congos will see this as apostasy and flip to the next "conference" ASAP. In a last gasp to stay on top, the WTBS will shift more towards the center and try write more inspirational type literature and get away from the prognosticating and condemnation that make them famous.
This of course will lead to more division in the GB and writing depts and no doubt many will leave. The result will probably be several smaller organizations many of which do not rely on a central source of literature and operate more like main stream churches do.
Just my observations....
