Faith... and Trust: The Same Things?
by AGuest inin a discussion with some other dear ones, the question was asked as to what such ones put their faith in.
in response to one comment that"one can't function without faith," another disagreed, stating ones can, that "many do so every day... the ones who have trust" (in things like the sun rising in the east versus the west).
that trust extended to "faith" based "on nature and the natural order of things.

ElderElite: You're funny. It was just a question (with sincerity) and now you have to come back with facetiousness. Lighten up. Do you think there are no spies here? You wouldn't think the Society would stoop that low? Okay, so you are not a spy. Thank you.

EE:
With all due respect, why are you still an elder?
Why do you visit "here" while still being an elder?
If the Society knew about you being here as frequently as you do, what would they think of you or do to you?
Or, do "they" know that you are here for some clandestine Societal reason?
Sincerely yours,
Inkie

“one of the things that I am concerned about regarding the new areopagus that AGuest and tec "set up" is the fact that that IS their place to meet with others and share their "faith(s)".”
And is there something amiss about doing what you say they are doing? What exactly is “your” “concern”? Are you just as “concerned” with every other non-Catholic denomination too? If not, why not?
“I wonder what these people would do if the internet went down forever...”
Don’t you think they would do what they did before the Internet?
where would these people go to gather with like-minded individuals?...
There is no need for them to “go” anywhere. Do you not know this? The “where” you speak really is a “whom” you SHOULD be speaking of.
“they have rejected true and honest fellowship with the mainstream church.”
“Mainstream”? Are you serious?
“I know AGuest and co. have been building their "church" on sand,”
Oh, so you are a land evaluator? You know the qualities of various types of land? Good for you.
“essentially. the internet is indispensable to their fellowship.”
And your point is what?
“Jesus built the church on peter”
So some say, but the truth is the Christ built the church on himself. He is the foundation cornerstone.
“and wind and rain has not washed it away...”
Nor has rain or wind cleansed the Roman Catholic Church from all of the atrocities it has committed over the centuries.

Jesus and the Apostles return in the 21st century......where ?
by Balaamsass inan old co-worker who trained to be a jesuit priest, is very intrigued with the ex-jw movement.
we share laughs and have some off-beat phone discussions at times on theology.
yesterday was about money, religion and "wwjd" what would jesus do if he and the apostles actually returned today.. we decided he and the apostles would probably be seated around a picnic table in a park with a laptop writing a "blog", have a facebook "fan page", and make press releases...making it entirely possible for "every eye to see him".. the pope and the governing body would denouce them as heritics.

Immortal life or Everlasting life?
by The Searcher init's very interesting that 1st corinthians 15:53 has been cited in the watchtower study articles last week and this week.
that scripture, speaking about humans, translates the greek word 'athanasia' to mean 'immortality'.
can that be correct?
-
Inkie
Searcher:
If immortality was what the writers (as well as Jesus) had in mind, then they were all pretty negligent in their use of the Greek language by not revealing such an incredible condition being promised, that of being immortal!
Keep in mind that Jaheshua (Jesus) did NOT speak or write in Greek, nor did most of the Bible writers. Paul, perhaps, may have thrown in a Greek word or two (maybe, but iffy), but pretty much the Bible writers of the "Christian Greek Scriptures" ORIGINALLY wrote in Aramaic or Hebrew. Thus, the "Greek" writings you are reading (if you are reading them) were written by writers well after the fact.
So, please, don't accuse Jaheshua or the original writers of "negligen[ce]" in their us[age] of [a] language" they did not write in. That's a bit shoddy. (No offense intended.)

Bats in the Belfry's letter has an error in it. An error that the Society would never make--at least not THIS kind of error. The letter states "20th Century," which is a mistake the Society would never make. Thus, the letter is bogus.
