its my first post and i don't really know where to start, there been so much on my mind.

i've been reading threads on this site like crazy and obtained a copy of coc from the library yesterday.

i stayed up until 4am reading it, and i'm impressed with the way it was written - its just like reading a w only the subject matter is a little different hehe.. i'll break myself in gently with this site over time but basically a few things about me are: born in a jw family, baptized as a young teen, 1 yr aux pio, several yrs as reg pio, 1 year as 'special' full time pio at bethel.

What is an appropriate age to let your daughter date?

as a father; will i ever think it is an appropriate age for my daughter to date?

i have a very pretty 12 year old girl.

besides excelling at classical ballet, she is a high honor roll student academically and she is a very good , sweet, child.

when I deliver patients as young as 12, then yes dating = sex.

The mean age of the patients I see is 16. I'm beyond being shocked at how young the girls are engaging in sex or how many preganancies they've had before they can get their tubes tied and quit being pregnant.

And please FrankJ, if we can get the kids to not have sex until young adult, then the lastest STD, Human Pappilo Virus (HPV) will not be so prevelent. It is the virus that is causing so many cervical cancers.

So (sorry no one enjoyed my joke earlier, hate old WTBT's sayings ) but you and your wife need to discuss what you are comfortable with. Inform you daughter about birth control before she begins dating. Accidents happen. Being open with your children so that they don't live double lives is worth the embarrassement of bringing up the subject.

Have fun! its just beginning.

Wow for only 14 you certainly have a lot of things to consider in your life. And you write very well. Putting your thoughts and questions in a logical order. Bet you're still on the Ministry School! *snort, snort* sorry

I hope you take some time to read through other people's experiences that have been posted on this discussion board. You are not alone in your experiences. But you are right, only you can make a decision that you will have to talk to your dad about.

May I suggest M. Scott Peck's book "The Road Less Traveled". It is not a JW book but he is a psychiatrist. Very good principles to apply in life.

just a reminder / clarification.. i'm not interested in public debate or questioning about hwo the forum is run, especially individual decisions we make.. if you have any questions about anything or want to challenge any decision then do it via email or pm.
