Sounds like you have an active group of elders there! I've never heard of such a thing. If you don't feel like going, don't go...or have an excuse so you can leave early if you feel like it.

Call from elder
by XPeterX ini received a call a few hours ago from an elder.of course he didn't call me to ask how i was or if i needed help.instead he told me that "the youth and some older brothers" of my congregation will gather (at another elder's house, you see 2 elders to "get a hold of the situation") to talk about the "internet, facebook etc dangers".i told him that i will go.hmmm...it's going to be an interesting conversation..

Fading and the Blood Issue
by brotherdan inhey everyone,.
so most of you know my story and gave me the advice of taking things slow with my wife and not rushing her in regards to leaving the "o".
so i have been taking things slow, saying things that i appreciated from the meetings, and keeping my mouth shut in regards to everything that makes me want to vomit.. last night we were talking (very amiably) about some things that i said on a youtube comment, which she busted me about.

Sorry you're feeling bad about it brotherdan. You were just trying to diffuse the situation. Perhaps you can mention your point of view the next time it arises?
When I told my husband there was no way I would refuse a blood transfusion for our child based on one scripture he freaked out and couldn't handle it. So maybe it's a good thing you didn't press it at this time.
I told our doctor that I recinded my decision on the 'no blood' policy for myself and our child, and the doctor made a note of it. I told the doctor that my husband wasn't in agreement and I didn't want him to know about it and he was ok with that and reassured me that the doctors will give a child blood even if the parents disagree.
I hope you're never in a situation where you need to deal with this issue. Or if you are, that your wife will change her mind.

Being a long time Witness is like shopping at Costco
by exwhyzee inafter shopping at costco for years and years, i just realized i don't even check the prices anymore to compare them to those at other stores.
somewhere along the way i got into the habbit of assuming that they always have the best prices and best products.
it dawned on me that it's sort of like that with being a witness especially if you were raised as that way.

Would you Agree with this?
by KW13 init occured to me that when the new, young elders, ministerial servants and so on take over, they are further and further away from the origin of the witnesses.
when the lies were fresh in the minds of all, when people saw first hand what was done wrong, giving them the reasons to jump ship and enjoy life, without fear of making a mistake, because they had a good idea of the facts.
these things have since been brushed under the carpet and the circuit overseers, elders, ministerial servants and so on are more naive and clueless (in my opinion) than ever.. the same applies to the rank and file witnesses.

Did they have a notice above the urinal stating how many times you should shake it?
"If you shake it more than three times...you're playing with yourself."

The Elder Situation
by metatron ini was speaking with an older sister who is quite zealous and she is typical of many who are concerned that men are not reaching out.
she notes that young men in particular have no interest in doing anything, congregation-wise.. the change in this area is quite dramatic, if you can remember that once, being an elder was an aspiration of nearly every brother - and we had plenty of young men to run the mics and hand out magazines.
i once pointed out to a c.o.

There is a lack of "spiritually qualified" men in my area, so they have 12 year old boys on the mics to groom them into becoming servants when they are older. Not enough men have 10 hours of service to qualify for mics, let alone become an MS or elder.
I was told years ago that my low service hours were holding my husband back from reaching out. I neglected to tell them that he's too busy to want to be one anyways.

Aren't You Embarrassed That YOU Ever Believed Any Of The Watchtower Bullsh*t?
by minimus ini do think about that and i realize that i should've gotten out sooner.
( i stayed in longer for various reasons).
but the last few years i knew it was bullsh*t!

Yes, I had doubts as a teen (I was a born-in). I could have researched my doubts then and made a break for it, but instead I supressed them for another decade.
It's sad watching your intelligent, logical loved ones cling to beliefs even if they are spiritually "weak" or "inactive." I wish they would just give it up already!!!

Preparing information about cults and mind control to a therapist...
by confliction ini'm currently visiting a psychologist/therapist to help me examine and work through my depression- i've had medical depression/anxiety all of my life.
i'm no longer anxious or excessively paranoid for the most part- that was a part of my younger childhood, probably from fears and nightmares of destruction at armageddon, and other childhood exaggerations and amplified fears.
but right now, she's treating me for a recent fall back into a depression.. anyways, for the most part, as you could guess, my depression stems from learning i have wasted my entire life (17 years) up to now in a cult, and pretty much my entire perceived world was nothing but an illusory concept.

2014 100th anniversary of 1914
by rnicole76 indo you all think there will be huge drop in memberships of jehovah witnesses during 2014?
i don't believe so because the governing body member will come up with new reasons why armageddon hasn't come yet.
i was thinking they will reinterpret scriptures and stuff....

Can't wait to see what happens!
It was sad hearing my grandma (inlaw) say how she never planned on getting old in "this old system." She's been living alone for over 40 years and said that was "too long."
