Looking back I Missed out on a lot
by lil.lady.03 inso i'm thinking back to all the things i ever wanted to do when i was little.
and could not do because, anything i wanted to do was bad association or just bad.. when i was 4, i wanted to do gymnastics.. "no.
you get pulled into nationalism and develop a competive spirit.".

I feel for you lil.lady! I felt the same way growing up. One of my regrets is not finishing college...I was too indecisive to figure out what I wanted to do. Instead I got married at 19 to get out of my parent's house.
Taking a class sounds like fun, and you can express your creativity too. -

This is a "groaner," my bookstudy conductor loved puns.
"Did you know that the Apostles car-pooled in a Honda? 'The Apostles were in one Accord.'" Hahahahaha...oh how I miss those bookstudy groups.

Yeah, the conventions were pretty fun. Well at least getting a frozen chocolate pudding to snack on. I remember making sandwiches at the Pacific Coliseum when I was very young...good times.

by Snoozy ini seem to hear more and more on the news about the bed bug epedemic.
today they were talking about it on tv and they said they are spreading ,among other ways, at theaters and libraries.. i love going to the show and my grandchildren are spending a lot of time in the libraries at their colleges.. it's just a matter of time before someone close is exposed to them.. what do you do?.
i know for myself i am fearfull of going to the theater now.. they were talking about it in illinois and i am in missouri..can bedbugs swim?

Eeeeeewwwwww, I just watched Dr. Oz about that. We were just in Seattle, a "hot spot" and stayed at a few hotels and didn't get bed bugs. Thank goodness!
If you don't mind looking a bit silly, you can bring a flashlight to the theatre and check out the crevices of the seat before you sit on it. That's what the exterminator guy said on the show. And they like to hide in purses too, so you shouldn't leave your purse on a theatre seat.

Most-Ignored Scriptures by JWs
by Mad Sweeney inthe watchtower has been known for over 130 years as a great scriptural cherry-picker.
they pick out disparate unrelated verses and combine them to support the wackiest of wacky doctrines.. on the other hand there are many scriptures they almost never address, whether because they contradict wt doctrine or because they simply don't have a clue what they mean or how to spin them to the wt advantage.. one of these is revelation 19:1 that mentions a "great crowd" "in heaven.
" the only time it is ever brought up it is dismissed.

Hebrews 1:1, 2 -
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
God doesn't speak through the WT today, He used prophets in the past only.

Demons and the WTS
by brotherdan ini remember growing up and hearing all sorts of stories about demonic activity from people.
some would be experiences that people had going door to door and visiting a "witch" or "warlock".
some would inadvertently go to a fortune tellers door and have a demonic experience.. i was always facinated by all the stories.

I'm reading a book called "The Bondage Breaker" and it speaks a lot about demons in present day life. Not sure if I believe it all, but it's interesting anyways.
I believe some people are able to sense evil spirits. My Grandmother's neighbour is a retired pastor and she sensed an evil presence when my Grandfather was suffering from Alzheimer's. He'd see sadistic things on the tv that weren't there, or disturbing sexual images that would bother him. Maybe there's another explaination for all this, but I don't doubt other people's experiences with the presence evil.

Ok, I'll be the crazy one and share a story...and no I wasn't on anything, I was 13.
I was at my friend's house one night and we were looking out her back window. Suddenly we see a pillar of flames shoot up from the ground in front of her neighbour's shed. It turned different colours, and then it went back into the ground. A couple seconds later, we see a man walk into his backyard and into the house. I don't think it was demons, but it was weird. We looked at the shed the next morning and didn't see burn marks or anything.
Another weird thing happened with this friend. We were listening to a CD, and at the end of the CD there was a really warped mashup of songs that started playing. It probably wasn't anything again...but I thought it was demons because I borrowed the CD from a girl who listened to Marilyn Manson.

Did You Sit for the National Anthem?
by compound complex in.
i never understood the convoluted "reasoning" on standing for the pledge of allegiance but sitting for the national anthem .... your thoughts or experiences, please.. thank you.. cc.

I remember sitting for the anthem in elementary school at the school assemblies. I always felt incredibly embarrassed, as friends would ask me to stand up and teachers would give me dirty looks and gesture for me to stand up. It felt so disrespectful to sit and I didn't understand it.
As I got older, I stood for the anthem and didn't sing which elicited dirty looks from super dubs in school with me.
And to avoid this problem at hockey games, we'd wander around for the anthem and then take our seats. However, the anthems are catchy, and I sung them in my head anyways.
