the jehovah's witnesses believe they are in a "spiritual paradise" where everything is honest, true and in the open.
schemes, scandals, scams, and cover-ups define the very organization they belong to.

in psychology?...let me save you some money and time....it is ptsd....post traumatic stress disorder....just like in the military....we relive this shit of horrors of control that we never fit into...the horrors linger on especially if we are still in contact with the ones that cause the pain.... just like if one raped or molested had to even see the family of the one who raped him or her each day.....when they are gone...the paid goes away....i so want to leave all of them....but it is hard for me....so hard......dammit.......................oompa...... .
but get away...far away if you can...this is expensive professional advice i have received....and they are good...and i believe them.
Yes and that PTSD hits many times and sometimes when you least expect it! So hard to get far away when family is still in. I would love to take them all and never go back! Then the healing could truly begin.
most of us either when exiting the witnesses or after exiting have certain beliefs/practices that bothered us so much we could not suport this organization anymore.

There's certainly no shortage of what to disagree with!
Mine would be: Lack of love, UN involvement, self-appointment of GB (the whole history of that is a travesty), lies and deceit by the GB, false prophesy, pedophelia, no questions allowed, treatment of women as lesser beings, blood transfusions, elitist attitude of GB/higher ups, work work work yet never good enough, no education, blood transfusions, hypocrisy, deliberate us of mind control. Whew - I think I could go on but that's the overall gist of my disagreements.
The havoc on people's lives is so sad! The families broken up and the lives lost is a tragedy. The elderly ones who have no pension and no savings is sickening.
for they, alone, have apparently been able to do for some what no other religion, teaching, philosophy, belief, or faith, was able to do: turn some completely away from the most holy one of israel, jah of armies.
may you all have peace.... of course, such ones may want to attribute their "change of heart" to something they call "atheism", but that really isn't the truth.
atheism didn't call them; atheism was simply the final "oasis" to which they fled when the wtbts proved itself to be a "waterless region"... a wasteland... desolate.
Shelby - I wish the WTS would hear what you hear! There would be a lot more love and compassion!
I guess WT fear is still in some who feel they need to question what they themselves do not know or understand. Although I do understand the anger some may have at the thought of any outside force because we've come from a place where we've been hurt and mislead by what we thought was being led by God.

Oh my! Quite the debate going on here. I actually thought that this fill in the blank was filling in a perspective about what we thought of OURSELF as a JW - not bad mouthing JW's. We all come from there and thus have our thoughts on how we were and how they can be as a group. These opinions are not coming from outsiders that judge another group - it is coming from our personal experiences and we have sustained a lot of hurt and a lot of damage. I think there is a big difference. But that's just my opinion.
Scully: I'm so sorry for your pain. That experience is horrific and disgusting! Everyone should be ashamed of themselves for treating you that way.
Coming from my own perspective I would say: The most depressed, the most fearful and the most mind controlled.

In all my years as a witness I saw and experienced anger, jealousy, hatred, gossiping and apathy far more than I ever experienced love. Your point about people leaving the doors and wishing the householder to die at Armageddon is so true. The amount of times I have heard that is numerous. Comments about living in their homes once they are destroyed and that they can have the last laugh. How loving. They are just like Jesus. At least this attitude helped me to see them for what they are.
just a question really and whilst i would not put it past them i sort of feel it is too 'conspiracy theory' for me.
are elders and bethelites officially sanctioned to lurk (or engage) in this or other sites to try to weedle out apostates?

I have no doubt that they follow it and other sites. If they didn't how would they know to try to stop it? They will spend time and money on anything they deem as damaging.

i remember instances where we told that the demons could get into the house through furniture or ornaments.
if anyone had a problem in the house with demons, they should remove anything that they may have bought second hand.
i remember one family getting rid of their carpet!.
if powerful demons even exist, they would probably have more interesting things to do with their time than hang out in old coffee cups, sofas, and ottomans.

If they don't burn do they jump into the next piece of furniture? If they do then does one have to burn all of their furniture? Will they eventually jump into the person who has now burnt everything he owns? Yikes! This is serious business!

it's the weekend for my kids to come down and it seems dear old dad just aint that important anymore.... son who now has his licence has left school to work (i found out on facebook) and seems to be too busy, daughter has a party (with j dubs) she wants to go to saturday night.
of course the mother is delighted by this...as they are a two hour drive away it just stuffs up the whole weekend really.
The teen years suck.

Excellent point StAnn about making up the time next weekend. Kids need to know they can't just take and take and not give back.
