  What is the big plan for the Great Day?

  i've been away from the borg for many years now.

  the only information i have about new light/doctrine change/flip flops is from this board.

  so i'm hoping you can help me with a couple of questions i've had since i was a kid.. does the wtbts have a plan for what the jws are supposed to do while the battle of armaggedon is being fought?.

  We were always told that they don't know how the people will be protected. It was pointed out that Noah and Lot didn't see the actual murders of everyone and so if you are seeing the destruction at Armageddon you are probably going to get destroyed yourself. As for after the fact then we get to see all the dead and rejoice because wickedness is gone and joyfully clean up the dead remains. Yay. How wonderful. The bird poplulation thing is absolutely preposterous. How loving getting all excited that there are more birds which means the Big A is coming and they are getting ready to eat the dead.

  I always used to point out how the 1,000 year reign afterwards is kinda like what Hitler's ideology was. Boy the looks I got!

  it was painful at first but now i see the advantages of not having needy relatives spending the weekend with me and scoffing my food and raiding my bar.

  my wife is happier too.

  it's like having a heavy rucksack removed.. i have 39 jw relatives and 38 of them shun me along with the army of ex-friends who remain in the tower.

  Thanks for the heartfelt words Gladiator! It's inspiring to see that making a new life is possible despite the past. Valuing ourselves can be so difficult but certainly very important in moving on. Not giving energy to the past is a very good point to.

  How awful! What love this organization teaches. I'm sorry for the sheer stupidity and hateful attitude. Letters informing you of family deaths? How hurtful, disrespectful and unloving.

  I'm certainly glad that you seem to be doing well. Take good care of yourself - those are hard things to go through. I wish you all the best.

  The only person I don't want to be shunned by is my son. That would be devastating. He is not baptized and I'll fight to keep it that way.

  Have your JW Relatives Explained about Generation/Overlap Change to You ?

  after reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .

  i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.

  so please feel free to post your experiences.

  Flipper - your patience astounds me! It is so scary how mind controlled some people are. It runs so deep that they actually BELIEVE that what they say is coming from themselves. The fact that the English language has been re-written to suite false prophesy over and over again is crazy. I guess the fact that the Bible says nobody know the day or the hour is completely irrelevant and they must keep seeking such day and hour and generation. Major and minor prophecies? Yes, that is just what Jesus meant. He meant the first generation will be 37 years but the major fulfillment will be much longer and has just now informed the GB in Brooklyn. I guess Holy Spirit gets confused sometimes and has to go back and forth on what it really means. But that's okay because Pluto is no longer considered a planet!

  I've notice that the word hate is used so fast by some people - it's like they love for people to hate them. I guess it makes them feel better that they are hated and persecuted by the world. They grope for hate when there is no hate. That means they have the truth. They don't see that they are the ones who hate. How sad! Jesus taught love not hate. I guess one is not allowed to speak their mind without being considered hateful. I guess people with differing opinions than the WTS are hateful. You are the last person I would consider hateful! Your posts are kind and loving even if in disagreement with another.

  Well . . . that's my little rant. It might not be clever but that's okay. I'm in good company !

  Edmonton is covered in smoke

  don't know if this is the right spot for this or not; its not political or anything.

  but we are covered in smoke, here in edmonton.

  the smoke from all the bc fires has drifted over to alberta.

  Tammy - I'm in BC too and the smoke was bad here last week. A couple of days we were told to stay indoors and not to do any exercise outside. Major fire bans. It rained today so that should help. I hope it clears up for you! Smoke headaches are not fun.

  You could phone the fire hall and perhaps a nice fireman will deliver some Advil for you and give you tips on how to deal with smoke!

  One more disability - but solutions are great

  ok so i have been almost blind in one eye since i was a kid.

  i have been using a wheelchair for 7 years now.. and last winter i discovered i am going deaf - there goes my career as a sign langiuage interpreter for the witnesses.

  I'm sorry about your hearing on top of everything else! LOL though - your sense of humour is intact! That's a good thing it keeps us going through the trials.

  Rate JW's out of 10 compared to other religions.

  so most of us here have been jw's or have read enough to have a decent grasp of the religion.

  while we were there we were told jw's were the happiest, most righteous, best dressed, most polite, helpful people and our religion the purest and most accurate for of christianity in the world.. most here now would say all that probably wasn't entirely true.

  lol.. if you have had exposure to other religions before or since where do you rate jw's overall compared to these religions?

  I would rate them as 0/10 as they are a mind control group using religion as a front. They are not about truth nor are they about God. They are about power and control. That being said the people inside believe they are in a religion serving God so of course there will be some good that comes from the good people within. I'm hoping that they will wake up to being duped.

  Im finally leaving my jw husband.

  some of you know i have struggled with this for awhile.

  i really do believe in marriage and the committment, however, sometimes enough is enough.. his endless preaching at me and calling me and my (adult) children satan has me realizing that this situation is not going to get better.

  the other day he kicked my son out of the house for wearing a cap, in his car, with a skull on it.

  Littlebird you have my hearfelt empathy! It is a scary thing after than many years to be on your own but your sanity is worthy it. My husband is the same way and he is manipulating my son about the truth. I want to get my son out that is why I can't make a move yet. I'm trying to convince my husband but it goes nowhere and it is so frustrating! I completely understand the walking on eggshells. There comes a point where you just can't take it anymore.

  I wish you all the very best. Take it one day at a time - you can do it! You will be able to think in peace and get to know yourself better and you will be stronger for it. Nobody needs someone telling them they are buddies with Satan. How hateful.
