  I'm so sorry. This is such a tough road. I trusted my husband too but he trusts the faithful slave more than he trusts me. I had two elders show up unannounced AGAIN yesterday (I think my husband knew) and am reeling and upset. I didn't stay to talk but I overheard some of the stuff. I'll post it once I get over the sick, shaky feeling I have. I feel for you. Please don't say too much to anyone until you have a plan. These men are evil.

  That is INFURIATING!! They twist the scriptures so badly. The bible plainly states that BOTH were created in God's image. What do they point out? That the woman was perfect SO she could faithfully reflect man's perfect glory!!!! What a sick bunch of misogynistic, chauvanists. I guess that is why women HAVE to put up with abuse and rape because they HAVE to reflect man's perfect glory.

  Good point about no headship being mentioned by God when they were first created. As for the man dominating woman - it was not by God's allowance - it was that God knew that man would do that to women. He was right - they do everything they can to suppress and dominate women. It does NOT mean that women have to allow anything of the sort! They are NOT second class in any way.

  The society can thank themselves for many divorces among witnesses. The way they do things ensures unhealthy marriages.

  You've Got Mail is great!! "I am a lone reed" I think we can all relate to that line.

  I really like When Harry Met Sally - I love the part at the diner - she's really enjoying her food!

  Head Over Heels with Freddy Prinze Jr. was pretty funny.

  Oh - I also like the "this one time . . . at band camp . . ." movies - American Pie - they are hilarious with some romance too - they were my "rebel movies". I was sooo bad for watching them

  How do you deal with shunning ?

  my wife and i da'ed ourselves two years ago.

  she left because she felt there was no forward momentum in the congregation.. me: because i really started to notice the lack of love and concern amoungst "true christians".

  we have gotten to the point now where we will say hello to any jw's we run into, but the total avoidance thing is starting to get somewhat creepy to me.. example : my wife was in target several weeks ago, put her items on the belt and was getting ready to checkout.

  If I had become a murderer, or drug dealer I could possibly understand them. But for crying out loud, I personally am doing more to help people and assist them then I have ever done in my life.

  If you had become a murderer or drug dealer then they WOULDN'T shun you! In their eyes apostates are much worse. Sick!

  I'm not officially out as an apostate yet in the congregation - though I'm sure it will be soon (had two elders at my door again - but that's another thread). If I were to face that then I would be my friendly self. I refuse to be unloving like they are. Who knows, maybe the fact that others can show unconditional love will wake someone up.

  I'll never understand their lack of love. All the best to you guys!

  Joseph's brothers shared a common experience so they were of various ages but of the same generation? Hello!! Common experience - um . . . . you mean coming out of the womb of the same woman - their mother? Yes, that would make them THE same generation. So how again does that make me of the same generation as someone who was born in 1930? Because our lives overlapped? NEWS FLASH: Everyone's life overlaps! They will keep overlapping . . . . the generation will never end! I guess the end will never come so why the rush?

  Question About Breast Photographs

  i have a fairly serious but gently light-hearted question.. i am on my out the door to meet a friend for consultion with a surgeon who specializes in breast surgery.

  the reason for the consultation is that breast mri and biopsy shows possible cancerous lesions.

  I can only look at it from my point of view - I'm not sure I would want any pictures. However, if my friend asked me if I thought I should get pictures to remember by - I would not get offended. I just don't think I would do it. But that's just me.

  Scarred for life: I completely understood your post - I don't give a rat's behind about Buffet and what he does. That's the whole point of quotes -the words and the meaning behind them for US and how WE can apply them. If it was about the people who said them well . . . we wouldn't be quoting much because we ALL can be hypocrites.

  Missing out on unconditional love as children is a devastating thing. It damages your self-esteem as an adult. If you can't rely on your own parents for support then who can you rely on? What I can learn from that is to make sure that I do my utmost to love my child unconditionally and give him support through thick and thin, mistakes and all. That's what LOVING someone is all about.

  The words themselves have a lot of meaning and scarred for life is right - a LOT of witness children are robbed of unconditional love. Parents let the WTS put conditions on loving their own children. That is disgusting. It no wonder that kids are going crazy in the org. They feel they have no support and have to be perfect in order to be loved. If not then not only will their parents abandon them but God will punish them by murdering them at the big A. Makes me feel sick just typing this. Sad, sick and demented.
