Sometimes You Just Gotta Score One For the Cult Members
by PublishingCult ini really don't care much for jw's at my door, or at anyone's door.
this chauvinistic, fanatical bully-a-hole, however, is one of the worst examples of a christian i have ever seen.
the jw's handled themselves very well in the face of this ridiculous bullying and taunting by this so-called christian attempting to school the jw's about god and the bible.

Today's WT Study Stupidity About Df'ing
by metatron inin today's watchtower study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former df'ed witness expressing appreciation for being shunned.
these comments always remind me of a stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).. after this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".. oh, really?
do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" for the sake of their relatives -and not because of fearing jehovah !!!???.

If disfellowshipping is openly motivated by getting back with your cultish relatives, then what, pray tell, does that have to do with repentance towards God?
Very good point. This is something that has ALWAYS bugged me right from the start, as it should be obvious to anyone that if a person has serious doubts about their religion, the situation is not going to miraculously change simply as a result of being shunned by their loved ones!
What a wonderful, Christian attitude. Keep your doubts to yourself and tow the line like a good little JW, or we will make sure you will never speak to your loved ones again. As you say, what on earth has this got to do with repentance towards God??!!
My own JW relatives know how strongly I feel about the shunning policy, and that the last thing I would do is crawl back to the KH on bended knee begging for forgiveness if they were to shun me, which should hopefully indicate to them how inaccurate this particular Watchtower study article is and will hopefully make them stop and think. One can but hope

When my grandfather died a couple years back I was shunned by noone! I walked into the hall expecting not to be shunned.
Hopefullly it can serve as a reminder that the majority of the people are good but truly "captives of the concept"
We had a similar experience to you, pbrow, when MOL passed away. MOL had been a very active and prominent JW sister for well over 40 years and the service was undertaken by an elder who had been brought into the 'truth' by her. As you can imagine there was a massive turn out for her funeral, nearly all JWs, but I stood by Hubby's side (both of us having been DA'd for many years) and we received nothing but warmth and sympathy by everyone as we thanked them for their support.
We did not expect to be shunned and if anyone had DARED to shun my husband at a time of his loss, I would not have hesitated in confronting them and asking them if God would not expect them to show a bit of compassion to a man who was mourning the loss of his mother. Believe me, I would NOT have let them get away with it!!!
My deepest sympathies for your loss and anyone else who is grieving at this time.

Hi from Andy from state of Montana, introduce myself
by andys inhi wanted to introduce myself, i wanted to intoduce myself once all the dust cleared more and i am thinking more clearly, in feb. 2011 is when i decided to leave jw, my way out of the organization has actually been since july of 2010 gradually over time i started to question the jw religion, in july of 2010 i was still living at home with my parents, my dad at the time told me he was going to force me to go to meetings but i started to drift out the other way it got to the point where my dad told me i had to eventually leave, in november of 2010 alot of things happened, i was finally able to find my own place, just at the right time i found a very good deal on a duplex for $350 a month something that i can easily afford even on low income, usually alot of places even where i live are around $600 a month, in alot of ways i just about nearly was homeless.. in feb. of 2011 is when i decided to read the book crisis of conscience, the very first night getting through 80 pages is when my blindfolds came off, i immediatley accepted christ as my savior, also in the process i did alot of extensive research, i did research on alot of mainstream religons, also jwfacts.com helped me out alot on where to go, i decided to check out the baptist church, everything was beyond what i expected, i am not afraid to walk into a different church to me its helping me heal all the pain that the jw religon has caused, also recently i got baptized and now am a born again christian.. .

"So I broke the kid's arm, it was his fault really"
by sabastious inevery now and then growing up a woman with the first name of guadalupe would come into my life.
this is a story of one of those times.. she was always refered to as a "friend of grandma's.
" that was why we were supposed to overlook the crazy things she did or at least i guessed that was the way it worked.

June 15th WT ( again ) WT Society Bashes College & Earning a Living
by flipper insorry for the redundancy of this being the 3rd article out of this magazine i've made a thread on- but i felt it was important to share these quotes from the aricle titled " make your way successful - how ?
" i think you'll see the extreme dissing of higher education here and guilt tactics used to discourage jw members from getting a college education or earning a decent living.. under the subheading " higher education " ?
it states, " a christian has a scriptural obligation to care for his family, and that includes providing for their material needs.

Here we go again, the next generation being made to feel selfish for wanting to use the brain they have on their shoulders. Once again, they are being encouraged to waste their lives as window washers or cleaning ladies, in fact anything that does not involve thinking too hard so all their mental faculties can be saved for studying the WT literature, with no danger of outside influences getting in the way of their indoctrination.
It is all so depressing, isn't it.

June 15th WT ( again) JW's told " Elders are Imperfect " Give them a Break
by flipper inthis is one subject that really annoyed me when i was a jehovah's witness - and i find it still annoys me after being out 7 years from the jw's.
the title of this jw only wt study article is " have regard for those who are working hard among you ".
in my opinion there always seemed to be a double standard in which rank and file publishers were always told to be patient with elders shortcomings - however if rank and file publishers slipped up - elders would be into admonishing and disciplining them like flies attracted to dung with no delay.

Ooops, that should be counsel, not council, sorry

The WAY the doctor conveyed the information may have a bearing on your feelings , but would you let that determine your decision ? Probably not. Likewise, do NOT allow the wAY you are admonished to prevent you from listening to those whom Jehovah and Jesus may be using to let you know how you can help protect yourself spiritually. "
Oh how this article makes MY blood boil too as it brings back so many memories!! For one thing, I would have thought the term 'elder' meant just that. A man who had the wisdom of age behind him, not 20-30 year old upstarts, often still living at home with Mommy who were suddenly presented with far too much power than was good for them. And now they are being compared to Doctors. Give me strength
Back in the day when I was an active JW I can remember many occasions when groups of sisters (myself included) would need to bite our tongues and try to control our raging blood pressures as these inexperienced youths would Lord it over us all, telling us how to conduct our lives even though many of us were old enough to be their mothers or even grandmothers. I can recall several older sisters on various occasions being upset and humiliated and saying how they had prayed to Jehovah to give them the humility they needed to accept the rather dubious 'council' they had been given.
Even as an active JW I thought how wrong the situation was, and how much more sensible things would have been if the roles had been reversed and it was the mature, experienced, intelligent and compassionate older WOMEN who had authority, as there were times when a difficult domestic situation needed the guidance and advice of a knowledgable older female.

In view of the advanced age of the GB members, I wonder what is going to happen in the future? After all, if they have to choose the GB from the annointed, there is a dwindling supply of those, and not all of them would be up to the job I would think.
