When I was 'in' it was pretty over the top to see, but I just thought it was because we were serving Jehovah..... lol thank god (not the WTS god) that I woke up!

Elder knocks on my door... couldn't see who it was and I opened it...
by Soldier77 inso an elder came to my door the other day in field circus.
i looked through the peephole to see who it was, but the way the door is situated against the sky in the background i couldn't see anything but a silhouette.
not to mention he was standing off to the side so to make it hard for anyone to see who was knocking.. so i open the door thinking it was my friend since he is the only jw that knows where i live.

I agree, he is on the edge, he always has been. I will say that this is not in the US, I'm out of the states for a bit and they do things diferently here, most of the time it's worse, but then some things like this is like, WTF? But this guy once told me to go look at a YouTube video about the Jesus died on a cross/stake argument.Talk about a WTF moment, right in the KH too! He realized what he had told me and got embarassed and threw in the, oh those silly apostates....
Come to think of it, this guy could be of the conscience class.... lol
Again, to re-iterate, I am not going to give these guys, or even this guy, the time of day if they want to sit with me in any form, whether it be to 'encourage' or for a JC. If it comes to an accusatory JC against me, I'll ignore them or tell them to shove it. But right now, I don't think it's leaning that way.
I'm in the 'spiritually weak so let's encourage him' status with the elder body.

Is it possible for the WT society to ever convince us of true reform?
by james_woods ini got to thinking about this and for me anyway, they would have to come clean on at least the following things:.
an honest retraction must be made on all the ridiculous chronology (of course including the false prophecies).
by this i mean, stop this psuedo numerology stuff of adding up this or that date, adding on x many years, etc.

Do You Tend To Believe New Posters When They Tell Us What Bethel's Up To?
by minimus incircuit overseers were supposed to be a thing of the past.
"presiding overseers" were supposed to take over.. there seem to be certain people "in the know" that reveal information and it may sound very convincing-- but is it??.
do you tend to believe what new posters say if they tell us about "new light" from the organization?.

No I don't tend to believe them, especially without backing scans of official letters or recordings. I trust a couple of people on this site that post new changes because they usually have scans or backing evidence.
But to see a newbie post something new, especially if it sounds a bit too good to be true, then I just read it for speculation purposes and entertainment.

How long is a year? Does it matter?
by wannabefree indoes how we calculate a year in our calendar today have any impact on how we understand dates in history and/or prophecy from the bible?.
i was reading about the current calendar and how it came to be.
when the julian calendar was introduced, the preceding year was lengthened to 445 days to bring the new calendar to a correct starting point.

Correct baltar. He is a fairly 'new' elder. Although he is an experienced man in his mid 50's...or older maybe...

Is it possible for true reform?
No. Because to do so would mean unravelling all of the lies that have been handed down to the R&F. If they want true reform, they need to send out an accounts report on where all of the money is invested, how much is spent on what, whom and how it breaks down across all corporate entities controlled by the WTS.
For true reform, they need to explain how they arrive at doctrine, what publications were used in research and by whom. They also need to say that they were wrong on all prophetic dates and explain how those dates were selected.
If they want any credibility to continue on as a religion, these are just some of the many things they need to be transparent about.
