Depression in the Org.
by ssn587 init never seems to be brought up in jah's so wonderful org.
but depression seems rampant, i can name 7-10 people right now on antidepreswsant drugs.

Well, when you are living in constant fear and guilt, constant urgency of the 'last days' it's no wonder why there are so many depressed. It's like driving a car to its redline in a race, you're pushing that car to it's limit for as long as it can. After a while, that engine is going to blow and when that does, you're out of the race.

by carpediem inand i feel good!
it was a long time coming.
i stopped going to meetings june 09. the reason i left it so long is because my husband is still in and for this reason i see witnesses from time to time.

Wait a minute... you haven't told your husband that you DA'd yet? Oh boy... pandora's box just got opened. I truly wish you the best, but it's going to get nasty.

Were you ever embarrassed or somewhat ashamed when the WT patted themselves on the back in their own articles?
by miseryloveselders ini was browsing through the december 2010 awake, and noticed an article on the earthquake that happened in haiti earlier this year.
it didn't take long for the article to disturb me.
the third paragraph initiated the sanctimonious tone that is present througout the article.
-
Soldier77
Oh yes. I always skipped over any 'tooting of their horn' experiences or outright attention grabs. But what I was most embarassed about was anytime someone in casual situation/conversation with a 'worldly' person would say that 'we' are Jehovah's Witnesses. I was like, dude, why do you need to say that? I mean really, nothing in our conversation had anything to do with bringing ones religiious beliefs into it. Thanks you jackass, now I have no chance of taking this hot girl out.

This Week's # 2
by FrankWTower ini've been noticing for a while now how the watchtower sometimes seems to change the meanings of words in the english language in order to not label jw's as anything that has anything to do with the rest of the world.. for example, this week's number 2 part in the theocratic ministry school dealt with: are jehovah's witnesses a sect?.
when i look to dictionaries for the definition of this word they all have similar meanings, albeit with different wording.
a group of people forming a distinct unit within a larger group by virtue of certain refinements or distinctions of belief or practice.

Welcome to the board Frank!
JWs employ the 'us vs. them' thinking every chance they get to make themselves look like they are 'a special people chosen by God' This is a form of cognitive dissonance to gather with like minded people to make their beliefs consonant and justify it.
Truth be told, JWs are a mind control cult and they were a breakaway sect from the Second Adventist movement back in the mid 1800s. JWs don't even acknowledge their own history. They are liars (the controlling members of the cult, GB and legal dept.) and history revisionists. They like leaving out the juicing scandalous parts of their shady past.

I am late to the thread, sorry BroDan.
Hang in there my friend. I'm so sorry that you are going through this yet some more. This proves further that they are a mind control cult. It's disgusting the amount of families this cult has torn apart.
on the tattoos. Glad you had a good time in Maui, I'll pm you in a bit about Hawaii.

Living alone or rooming with someone
by White Dove inwhich do you prefer?.
i like having a roommate..
-
Soldier77
I've lived with roomates several times. I don't like it, I didn't mind one roommate, but the other was a totall asshat. Back in my early 20s I lived with a couple JWs, one MS and one 'aspiring' MS, they were the filthiest guys I've ever known. I mean, bad, like leaving the trash stacked up in the basment for weeks! It was gross, I was hardly home, but when I came home the place was a pig sty, dirty dishes out so long it was caked on, trash every where, pizza boxes piled up on the kitchen table. All these guys did was play Playstation all day/night. Sick freaks.
